Fancy Bars and Facial Scars

The Destroyer

The Destroyer, better known as Roy, was in a tux. This was a VERY special occasion, for he was never seen anywhere in civilian clothing. Walking into the bar, he looked around. There was a seat towards the back that he was supposed to meet his contact at. His contact was an important political figure, hopefully they would show up. He strode over to the booth and sat, the seat groaning under the weight of the man. He gently felt his facial scars, running a finger down them. He looked out of place here, being a huge man covered in scars, facial hair, and having long hair, but he didn't care.

"I'll have whatever wine you recommend" he said, looking around. Where was this person?

He looked towards the stage while he waited. There was supposed to be a singer here, hopefully she'd be good.

Alice took four confident strides to the centre of the stage. The microphone stood a few inches from her face and a smile found its way to her lips. There was the usual crowd of business types with their trophy wives and mistresses. She never lingered too long on the audience. Her focus dived into the song as the music began to play, a clear and beautiful tune matched the pitch of her voice perfectly. She sung one of her lesser known songs about a traveller far from home. Though it was a sad song her voice carried light and airy through the spacious venue.

Her performance went on for another few songs, each held a beauty of their own. The band faded out after her final song and Alice offered an elegant curtsey to the audience. This was the part of the evening she enjoyed, second most to singing. Behind the closed curtains a waiting drink was passed into her hand, and Alice made her way down to the floor of the club. Socialisation was one of her stronger points and it always put a smile on her face to meet new and interesting people.

Roy watched and listened, entranced by the singer. She was beautiful, and also had a beautiful singing voice. After a few songs, he decided that his contact was a no show. How disappointing. Well, he might as well make the best of the night. He thought that he had seen the singer walk into the crowd on the floor. Walking onto the floor himself, Roy looked around for her. He at least wanted to compliment her on her singing.

Alice had been conversing with one of her more well known supporters. A less than interesting conversation. From the corner of her eye she spotted a large, muscular male in a rather fetching suit. Not the usual, stiff lipped business class that surrounded her on a daily basis. She nodded and thanked her current company, before slipping her way through the crowd toward the stranger. His face seemed to be littered with scars, it would make for some interesting stories, or at least she hoped. She stopped a few feet away, offering him a small, elegant smile. "I'm so sorry, I've never seen you around before. Alice Shaw." She offered her hand out, the other still clutching the frosted glass of her drink.

Roy was caught off guard when he saw the woman he was looking for walk up to him. That didn't usually happen. He was the type that would usually scare women away with his size and scars. When she offered her hand, he took it, lifting it up and kissed it. "I'm new to fancy places like this. I'm The des.. Roy. I'm Roy." He smiled, looking the woman over. She was stunning. "You have a beautiful voice, almost as beautiful as you." He said, shooting a quick wink at her.

His sudden charm cause her smile to widen and a red blush to touch the curves of her cheeks. In all honesty she had expected a different sort of reaction, but he showed as much elocution and grace as the rest of them. She was both impressed and pleased with her discovery. It seemed you really couldn't judge a book by its cover. "Thank you for your kind words." Her sentence was followed by another smile, growing ever larger as she caught sight of his wink. Needless to say the gesture made her cheeks turn a deeper scarlet. "I'm glad you enjoyed it. What tempted you to come tonight?"

"No problem, miss. Well, I was going to meet a.. contact. He didn't show so I figured I'd stick around." He grinned, taking a glass of wine off of the tray that a passing waiter carried. He took a sip, instantly recognizing the wine as simple corellian wine. He expected something fancier, but preferred something simple. "Would you like to come to my booth?" he offered, already leading the way. He had noticed Alice blushing at his comments earlier. It was obviously going well.

His invitation was met with an all to excited nod from Alice. Already the thrill of someone new was settling in as she placed her empty glass on a passing tray. "I'd be delighted too..." She scanned around for a moment, her gaze finding the bar, which so far was relatively abandoned. The free drinks wondering round on trays were more than enough to bring out the frugal side of everyone in the club. "But first I think I'll opt for something a little stronger. Can I tempt you?" Her eyes glanced up to catch his again and a brow raised with the question.

"Yes, I'd love to get something stronger." In truth, he hated the taste of wine. It wasn't his kind of drink, but most people in this type of place drank wine so he did it to help blend in. Setting his glass on a passing tray, he looked for the bar. Once he saw it through the mass of people, he smiled. Hopefully they had good whiskey. He put an arm around Alice's waist, resting his hand on her far hip. His main reason to do this was to make a statement to any guys that would attempt to hit on her on the way there. He looked down to her, for she was about a foot shorter than him, and smiled. "Let's go." He walked with her towards the bar..

Alice's eyes travelled down to her hip. Seeing his arm resting there felt strange, but she wasn't at all opposed to it. In fact, it felt quite natural. She picked her way through the crowd, dodging potential conversations and politely thanking people for their compliments. Usually she would have stopped to converse a little further but she needed a drink. Upon reaching the bar, the bartender began to make her usual drink, a strong smelling clear liquid with a sweet juice mixed in to take the sting away. He added ice and slid two glasses toward Alice, who nodded and turned back to Roy. "I hope you like it." She smiled softly, taking a small sip, then continuing her speech. "Lead the way."

Roy took his drink and started walking back to the booth. "Right this way" he said, taking a sip. It was fairly good, being strong yet not having a sting. "This is good, what is it? I might just have to have it again." As they were walking through the crowd again, several people made a visible effort to get out of the path of them. Roy couldn't help but laugh. It was funny that he intimidated people just by being there, but most people here were just snobs anyways. As they walked to the booth, Roy stepped to the side to allow Alice to sit down first.

Alice pondered for a moment. She recalled asking about the drink once or twice but she could never quite remember what it was. "I think its something Mandalorian. The juice takes the edge of it." Alice glanced at Roy, smiling as she took a seat at the booth. This wasn't unusual for Alice, though she found Roy a million times more interesting than her usual company. Alice took a few moments to work a crease or two out of her dress as she settled into her seat. "If you don't mind me saying, you don't look like the type to be involved in all this." Her hand made a half hearted motion, indicating the snobbish looking rich folk and lavish furnishings.

"The Mandalorians do make good alcohol" he said, sitting beside her in the booth. "Actually, this is the first time I've been in a place like this. But political figures like em so that's why I'm here. I'd much rather be in a run-down cantina on the lower levels, but that's just a personal thing." He smiled and took another sip of the drink. Hopefully this girl wasn't a snob like the rest of the people here, she didn't seem to be.

Alice assumed as much, regardless of his preference though she seemed to be quite enjoying his conversation so far. Whether it was the atmosphere of the bar or the drink in her hand a constant smile remained on the corners of her lips. "I've never been to a lower level cantina..." She took a sip of her drink. Alice was sure that he already knew that, just from the look of her. She was hardly the type to be wondering around the lower levels, even with protection. There was some curiosity in Alice's tone of voice, but she wasn't really sure if she meant it or not.

"I didn't think you would. I've got plenty of stories if you'd like to hear any. The tough thing would be trying to pick one." Roy absentmindedly touched one of the scars on his face, remembering the day he got them. She seemed curious, so he figured he would offer to tell a few stories. She probably didn't hear many war stories anyways, as she was constantly in places like this.

Alice was all to eager to nod her head at his suggestion. "I'd like that. I don't mind which one you tell." She placed her glass down onto the table, focusing her attention completely on Roy. There was a notable air of excitement around her, though it could have been the amount of alcohol flowing through her system. "Pick the most exciting one." She offered him an encouraging smile as she settled back to listen.

Roy leaned back as he started his story, smiling. She looked extremely excited, so she obviously didn't get much adventure. "Hmm. I don't know wich would be the most exciting exactly. Oh, you'll like this one I think." he said, a twinkle in his eye. "I'll tell you the story about how I got this." He pointed to the biggest scar on his face. "I grew up on korriban, in a village of sith. The sith species, not the group of force users. When I was raised, I was worshiped by the tribe as a god. No one knew who my parents were, just that they found me as a baby and I had force powers. And I believed that I was a god. Once I grew up, I ruled the tribe for about 690 years. During that time, plenty of people challenged me to try to take over control of the tribe. So this one guy decided he wanted to try and kill me, as many people have tried. This guy was different, though. He knew how to manipulate the force as well as I did." He paused for a moment in case she had questions, which she surely would.

Alice paid Roy the utmost attention as he spoke. The story had already started out interesting. Korriban wasn't one of the planets on her Galaxy wide tour. Thus, she had done all the research on it. A dangerous planet on its own, let alone for a child without parents. "So, I'm sat with a 700 year old mortal god from Korriban. Tonight has suddenly taken an interesting turn." Alice chuckled gently, before finishing off her drink and motioning to a waiter for a second. "What happened?" She turned her head back to face him as the glass was set down on the table.

"Correct" Roy said, smiling. "I'll tell you about how I'm 700 years old later. So as I said, this guy was strong in the force. We agreed to a duel with just battle axes, a fight to the death. We met just outside the village, in the desert so the village wouldn't get damaged. This guy was about 7 feet tall, muscular as hell, and quick. The whole village gathered in a circle around us, we took off our armor, wearing nothing but pants. No shirt, no armor, just skill. The guy was whooping my ass." Roy was really getting into the story, talking with his hands also, something he often did.

It was marvellous to see him so animated about the subject, Alice herself was being drawn into the story. She sat, slightly lent forward in her chair, eyes wide and locked onto Roy as he spoke. Despite her lack of experience with the subject at hand she felt a surge of excitement as he spoke about the battle. Her drink remained untouched as her features prompted him for more.
