SEASON OF THE FOUNDING

In the beginning, Hope was in short supply.

When I returned to the Southern Systems, every world existed in a state of uncertainty. In those days, the borders of democratic and imperial powers swelled at an alarming rate - and it was only a matter of time before all choice was eliminated. Should the bastion of Light, the Galactic Alliance, manage to embrace them...they would undoubtedly be drawn into the war against the Empires. And, should the Empires subjugate them, their daily lives would be forfeit in the service of their warmachine. Sovereignty was a luxury that was quickly running out.

Yet rather than accept the "inevitable", I proposed a new option: Freedom. If we would stand together, we would have the power to guarantee that every day remained free. And that every soul within our borders remained sovereign. So it was that the Confederacy of Independent Systems was born anew in the modern age. So it was that the Southern Systems gave itself a fighting chance.

SEASON OF THE ALLIANCE

While the Confederacy was very young, it began adjacent to a minor, Imperial power. The vast differences in ideals, coupled with adjoining borders, made rivalry with the Galactic Empire almost a certainty. As both nations grew, however, the Confederacy soon realized that the Empire did not act alone. Though distant, it had like-minded allies who would gladly support an imperial regime over a democratic one. In these turbulent times, the Confederacy looked to larger nations of the Galaxy and found a common ground.

The Galactic Alliance, the Silver Jedi Order, and the Outer Rim Coalition all stood together against the imperial menace. And, in time, the Confederacy stood alongside them. As a younger "sibling" to the Galactic Alliance, they rose to their defense on Dagobah. It was here that the Galactic Empire and the Confederacy first came to actual blows. And, it was also here that the Mandalorian Empire - seemingly a friend of the Galactic Alliance - turned coat mid battle and fought alongside the imperials.

It was this battle which steeled the Confederacy moving forward. They declared an all-out war against the Galactic Empire and launched a daring raid of their capital: Kamino. Then, they struck anew, attempting to seize the priceless foothold of Tatooine. Though the battles were long and victory was not attained in a single fight, the Confederacy eventually outlasted its neighboring adversary.

Yet the Confederacy did not rest on its laurels - for the Mandalorian Empire had to answer for their treachery on Dagobah. In the hopes of deterring further action against their allies, the Confederacy launched a strike against Concord Dawn. Yet, the fighting saw the nation introduced to a new Mand'alor and a new regime. Promises of peace, collaboration, and friendship were made that day...but they would not last.

SEASON OF THE CRUCIBLE

In the wake of their newfound peace with Mandalore, the Confederacy enjoyed several months of international peace. However, in that time, they turned their focus inward to quelling direct threats to their nation. During their infancy, an organization of slavers had risen up during the acquisition of Shimia. Known as the Crucible, the organization took...issue...with their way of life being deemed a capital offense in the Southern Systems. Thus, they waged a bittle battle on Shimia - but were overcame and silenced.

The Confederacy thought them gone until the day Relovian joined the fold. During a parade which presented the reigning monarch to her people, a terrorist plot was enacted on the streets of Relovian. Chaos ensued. And the resounding reality was that remnants of the Crucible yet lived. Namely, the man responsible for the bombing: Rhaegar. The Crucible would continue to be a thorn in the nation's side for many months, until a tumultous clash above Maramare. During the acquisition of this world, the Vicelord personally executed the terrorist once and for all. Yet, it came at a great cost - for his own sibling was caught in the blast.

In the wake of this act, the slaver menace to the Confederacy grew silent once more. And the nation believed that they had won at last.

SEASON OF THE FALL

In hindsight, the Confederacy should have seen the writing on the wall. It began with Mandalorian treachery, as many solemn tales do. The Vicelord took a routine visit to the world he once called home: Mandalore. In peace, under the banner of their nations' mutual friendship did he go to visit an old estate. T'was there he was cornered by supposed allies and his life nearly forfeit. Upon departing the world, all ties to the Mandalorian regime were severed and a shaky "peace" was established. But even that peace was thrown to the wolves, for Mandalore joined in what had become called "Endgame."

The Galactic Alliance was beset on all sides by every Imperial power in the Galaxy. At once. The Confederacy was barely able to make it Coruscant in time to aide survivors in escaping certain oblivion. In the end, the once great nation had been reduced to literal ash. The ordeal left millions displaced, and the Confederacy immediately took to the task of offering the survivors refuge. Monastery became a home for the homeless overnight. In the end, the Southern Systems vowed to never forget what the imperial powers were capable of.

And thus, they vowed never to suffer the rise of another Empire.

As time moved ever forward and the Confederacy grew in power and strength, it seemed almost inevitable that they would clash with the primary slayer of the Galactic Alliance. But the Sith Empire and the Southern Systems knew that such a clash would result in mutually assured destruction. It was thus that an Accord was struck - a pact between behemoths that would see lasting peace secured between the two. Yet this peace did not stay the Confederacy's hand from striking down the treacherous or the corrupt.

SEASON OF THE VOW

It was not until whispers of new Empire arising that the Confederacy took action once more. A lesser Sith regime began to take root within Chiss Space and had ambitions to consume the worlds left behind by the Galactic Alliance. The Confederacy rose and found an unlikely friend in the Sith Empire during their response. Pure happenstance saw their offenses against the Jen'ari Empire occur in rapid succession, with the Confederacy eliminating the Jen'ari presence on Copero. Seemingly overnight, the new threat to Galactic peace had been brought to heel. However. They did not stay in the shadows forever - as a second strike on Zonmira had to be launched on the literal other end of the Galaxy. The Jen'ari tried and failed to take root anew - for the Confederacy was there to smite the weed before it could grow.

Yet, as the Southern Systems waged their battle against a new adversary, the treacherous Mandalorian regime lauded a massacre. The very same General - Kaine Australis - who was responsible for the breakdown of relations between Mandalore and the Confederacy praised himself as the Butcher of Eshan. In the wake of the Mandalorian Empire's bloody assault upon the Echani homeworld, the Confederacy once more found itself a home for the homeless. Echani poured into Monastery en masse - and thus, the Confederacy could no longer ignore the treacherous. After a vicious battle, Eshan was liberated from Mandalorian control and placed under Confederate protection.

Immediately thereafter, the Mandalorians were given yet another opportunity to live in peace - should they simply stay their hands from massacre again.

In the wake of the Eshan Liberation, a surprising tragedy befell a number of Confederate citizens. A luxury liner, bound for Kuat, was destroyed by New Republic vessels. The corrupt nation attempted to peddle lies to the Southern System, shirking responsibility - and thus, the Confederacy arrived to launch its own investigation. Kuat and the New Republic would have known peace...if not for their efforts to assassinate the Exarch Srina Talon via explosion and the launching of a naval battle in orbit. In the end, Kuat was liberated from New Republic occupation - and the corruption nation collapsed immediately thereafter.

SEASON OF THE IRONCLAD

Of all the nations in the Galaxy, the Mandalorian regime adored spitting in the face of Galactic peace. If they had stayed their hands from massacre, there would never again have been an instance where they would cross blades with the Confederacy again. However, the beloved ally of the Confederacy - the Silver Jedi Order - found itself subject to their assaults. Umbara and H'ratth were assaulted - and once more the Confederacy could not ignore their treachery. A gathering of all nations stung by the Mandalorians took place upon Geonosis, where a solemn resolution was reached.

They would all strike to bring the menace to heel once more. And the Confederacy's contribution to this effort was the liberation of the agriworld Taanab. After their successful ousting of the treacherous clans, they quickly introduced the world to the warm embrace of the Silver Jedi Order. Now, the question remains, will the treachery continue? Will the Clans continue to stain their hands and spit in the face of peace? Or will there finally be an end to the vicious cycle?
