- Reliable
The F-22D Blaster Rifle is a modern evolution to the original F-11D, which was itself an upgrade of the legendary E-11. Over the centuries, this weapon platform has proven to be dependable - so much so that it has been the flagship rifle platform across multiple Imperial iterations. In keeping with its legacy, the F-22D is a very durable and stable service weapon for the First Order’s Stormtrooper Corps, even with its advanced upgrades. It could be thrown into the mud, trampled over, or dropped from severe heights - and still fire with reasonable accuracy and reliability. - Particle Combo
One major upgrade of the F-22D is the ability to shift between conventional blaster bolts for mass base-of-fire, stun charges for non-lethal applications, and particle beam bolts for added stopping power all in one weapon. This elevates the rifle in threat level against heavily armored opponents, and those wielding energy shields or lightsabers. - Advanced Optic Integration
Although the F-22D builds upon the streamlined design of its predecessors, it adds several notable and significant upgrades, including the ability to directly integrate the blaster’s optics with helmet HUD systems. This vastly improves combat effectiveness and awareness. - Modular
Within reason, the F-22D is highly customizable; from the buttstock, muzzle adapters, and rail-mounted add-ons one can install for tactical flexibility.
- Heavy
While its form-factor is standard compared to similar blaster rifles of its type, it is notably heavier than its peers due to its compact internal construction - or specifically, the internal mechanisms required for its advanced functions. - Firing Mode Failsafe
Even though the ability to switch between traditional and particle firing modes is a distinct advantage, it does not come without caveats. First, the particle beam setting is not compatible with full-auto due to overheating concerns, and has a built-in failsafe to protect the weapon. Second, one cannot switch between firing modes while the trigger is pulled; the rifle has another built-in failsafe to prevent this. In semi-automatic mode, this is a non-issue. But in burst fire mode - or if one were to try and bypass the failsafe for full-auto fire, and attempt a transition mid-stream - the internal mechanisms could overload. At best, the weapon would be rendered completely inoperable. At worst, the reaction between the two internal systems could cause the weapon to explode within the hands of the wielder. So to avoid this problem, it is strongly recommended that one just stop shooting, and flick the appropriate dials, before resuming. - Advanced Subsystem Failure
Although the advanced optics and other upgrades serve as a net-positive to the function of the F-22D, added features mean added things to go wrong. The weapon is designed to function even through moderate battlefield damage; but that does not mean all of its secondary or tertiary systems will remain fully functional, depending on the level of abuse. The weapon can fire accurately caked in mud, and battered all over - but its advanced optics would likely be completely destroyed, forcing the wielder to use standard iron-sights or backup optics. Or its ability to link directly with a helmet HUD display could be disabled by EMP/Ion charge exposure. - Reserve Spec
Due to the cost involved in the production of this rifle, the F-22D is exclusive to the Stormtrooper Corps, Special Forces branches, or anyone among the Officer Corps with enough clout to requisition one. The only way a standard infantryman or regular army soldier could acquire one of these weapons is from a corpse on the battlefield.
In bygone days, legions of stormtroopers served both the Galactic Empire and the original First Order; wielding the E-11 and F-11D as they spread throughout the galaxy in the name of Peace and Stability. Millions of dissidents, rebels, and pretenders have met the cold verdict of Imperial justice at the business end of those rifles, and that phenomenon is sure to continue with the F-22D. Standing as a modern evolution to its predecessors, the F-22D is both a blaster rifle, and a particle beam weapon - providing troopers the tactical flexibility to lay down mass-fire with the former, and devastating explosive barrages with the latter.
When paired with the Aurek Pattern Stormtrooper Armor (or similar variants), the wielder of this weapon will be able to seamlessly integrate the advanced systems of this rifle with the HUD displays within their helmets, providing a near-peerless level of combat effectiveness and awareness.
