STRENGTHS

• Pocket Battleship: The Extoller-class Frigate Killer is centered around a trio of powerful heavy turbolaser batteries that are capable of inflicting devastating damage on similarly sized vessels from long range. Vessels that get up closer to the Extoller must also fend off a constant hail of fire from its numerous laser cannon turrets.
• Armored Core: Intended to withstand significant punishment, the Extoller-class has thick armor and strong double-layered shields. Its physical armor is especially strong around fusion reactor, its main cannons, and its upper deck.
• Pursuer: Possessing powerful and highly fuel-efficient engines, the Extoller-class is capable of outrunning or outlasting most similarly sized vessels.

WEAKNESSES

• Blind Spot: The Extoller-class’ armament is centered on its top-mounted heavy turbolaser batteries, with only a few laser cannons in position to fire on targets behind or below the frigate killer.
• Aim for the Bridge: The Extoller-class’ bridge is an obvious landmark and highly vulnerable to attack if shields are down. Furthermore, destroying the bridge not only cripples the Extoller’s ability to steer but also disables its heavy turbolaser batteries, whose automatic targeting system is located within the bridge.

DESCRIPTION

The Extoller-class Frigate Killer is an overgunned frigate designed to engage other vessels of its class.

Designed as part of Alge Imperial’s Frontier Enforcer project, the Extoller-class fulfills the niche of an anti-capital light battleship. To achieve this role, the Extoller is equipped with three triple-barrel heavy turbolasers, designed to outrange and penetrate the thick frontal shielding and armor of blockade runners such as the Astrocat and Solo-class fielded by the Wild Space Rebellion. While actually somewhat underarmed compared to its intended targets, the Extoller holds an advantage in speed and is intended to be used in pairs to overwhelm a single enemy frigate while comfortably giving chase. Furthermore, even single Extollers can defeat Arstocats or Solos if wisely positioned and accompanied by starfighters beyond those it can carry in its meager hangar.

True to the doctrine of the Frontier Enforcer program, the Extoller-class is designed to provide an effective, low-cost alternative to Star Destroyers when engaging small craft. In fact, a single Extoller-class frigate is 1/40th the cost of a modernized Imperial I-class Star Destroyer (the common reference point for the Frontier Enforcer project) and can be produced five times as fast using the same or smaller shipyard facilities.
