When one grows up in a certain place, cut off from all outside forces, it is not crazy to believe that they think that what they know is all that’s out there. For nothing else could be out there. It was just what they knew, in the moment. But when they are suddenly pulled from that controlled environment, it is also not surprising for them to be overwhelmed quickly, with new experiences, sounds, sights, and smells assaulting their senses constantly. This was the fight that Shamira was having to cope with, having been rescued from a world that very much wanted all of her kind dead.

To say that she wasn’t grateful for that would be an outright lie. These witches, her people, had saved her life. There was no telling how much longer she would have lasted on that world in hiding. Yet now, it was opened to her that there was so much she didn’t know. That the galaxy didn’t revolve around her tiny, wasteful little planet, and that there was so much more to see. Perhaps this is what prompted to ask the white skinned witch for a ship, or at least a guide, to go explore and further her knowledge.

It had been granted, though not in the way that she had been expecting. Another witch, though this one from outside of the coven, had been approved to act as her guide and pilot for the time being. An interesting gesture, to be sure, but it got Shamira exactly what she wanted. And if the coven trusted her, it was fair to say that she was worth her trust as well.

At least, this is what she told herself as she watched the ship that was going to be her shuttle for the time being land on the platform just outside the coven. A simple ship, really only fit for a few passengers and some supplies, still looked massive to the witch that had only been given her first ride on a starship a few days ago. She was so busy looking over the massive hunk of steel that the side ramp almost came down on her head, electing a yelp and few quick steps backward from her. That didn’t seem very nice, though she supposed it was her fault. Whoever this witch was probably didn’t expect a passenger so naive as to never seen a side ramp before. What a surprise she was in for.

Purple boots clicked against the gravel as she made her way to the front of the ramp, waiting expectantly down at the bottom. “He…hello? Is this the..’starship’ of a Viana Morreth?” She called up, curls falling over her face as she tilted her head to the side as to try and get a better look up the ramp. Hopefully this was the ship she was supposed to be on. Not a random one that Shamira was now holding up, making her look dumb in the process.

When agreeing to become allied with the coven of Mandragora witches, Viana had considered the arrangement quite a good thing. While she was quite the recluse, having allies that understood who and what she was, and how to assist her if the need ever arose, was most certainly something she had needed in her life. It was good for all involved, really. The coven got an ally on the outside who understood their ways and did not impose upon them, but had the freedoms to do as she pleased and when she pleased to do so. It worked out, really.

However, the very last thing that Vi had expected to come from this alliance with her allies was to be requested to become a glorified babysitter. While Vi of course understood that this young woman needed guidance and education, to see the galaxy and learn from it, she did not see why it needed to come from Vi herself. Did they not have people of their own who could do such things? Surely they did not need an outsider to perform such a task.

Regardless, she had agreed if only to keep the peace, and she had taken her ship to go and retrieve this woman. It had been an easy enough flight, mostly done by the auto-pilot until the planet approach. Then Vi had taken control and gotten herself docked with the ease of familiarity. Once docked and things were shut down, she had sighed and made her way through the ship. As she lowered the plank, she adjust her gloves into place as the ramp lowered into place.

Admittedly, she was shocked to find someone standing below, More than that, she was surprised to be addressed immediately before she had even gotten off of her ship. "It is." she answered. "And who are you to ask such questions?" she countered, brow lofted as she looked this redheaded woman over with slow curiosity.

Apparently, these starships could come in a very large variety. Or at least, a larger variety than the few that the Mandrogora had on hand. Vytal had told her that the ships could get extremely large, to the point where they would block the sun from the sky, but Shamira surmised that she was just trying to blow the witch’s mind. There was no way that man, using the magics or not, could build ships that large. And finding the man power to run it? Ridiculous.

A voice, calling out to her from the top of the ramp snapped her back into the moment. Her eyes focused on the woman at the top of the ramp who had just addressed her, and whom was also scanning over her. It made her feel like a caged animal, a feeling she didn’t exactly appreciate. Though, it was possible that this was some sort of cultural misunderstanding. Was it normal to let the pilot get off one of these ships before speaking to them? There was so much to learn.

For now though, she focused on the woman, swallowing nervously before responding. “My uh…my name is Shamira Karuto. I am to be your passenger for the next few days..” She pulled the pack, given to her by the nightmother, higher up on her back to a more comfortable position after speaking. It was only to be a couple of days that she would spend with this woman. Though, hopefully, a productive trip. One that would enlighten her on the galaxy just a bit more.

Her foot tapped nervously, awaiting a response from the pilot, only for another question to make it past her lips, dripping with her Spanish accent. “May I..come aboard your starship?” If it was her ride, did she need to ask? Perhaps not, but curtesy was a good virtue, especially with a woman that she didn’t know and had been nice enough to show her around the nearby systems a little.

Of course this was the woman she was here to pick up. Why wouldn't it be some slightly timid, clearly naive member of the coven? A sigh left Viana's lips and she shifted herself so that she had a hip jut out an her weight balanced more on one leg than the other. She rest a hand against the protruding hip and let the other dangle at her side as she observed the redhead down the ramp from her. For a time, the white haired woman merely observed, watching and seeming to very, very seriously debate her options here.

On the one hand, she could turn tail and leave. Wash her hands of this before it even became a thing and the woman below were to ever become her responsibility. On the other hand, she did not wish to lose the coven as allies. Loner by nature or not, that was not an alliance she wished to turn her back on.

"Oh very well," Vi let out, and with a roll of the eyes she turned about and headed back inside the ship. "Come along, Shamira you said? I do hope you gathered your things already. Since there was no need to go and fetch you, I have no intentions of leaving my ship and stepping foot on the planet." Not that she had anything against Ryloth really, but she would really just rather not deal with more people than she already has had to do in picking up this new charge.

Of course this was the pilot to take her on her journey. Why woulnd’t it be a rood, headstrong loner witch? An equally huffy sigh left the redhead’s lips as she was ordered onto the ship, perhaps a bit more forcefully. This woman seemed like she wanted absolutely nothing to do with the smaller witch, and perhaps only was doing this to keep up good looks with the coven. Shamira may be ignorant and naive to the massive galaxy that seemingly had just opened it’s arms widely to her, but she wasn’t stupid. She could still read faces, and this one on top of the ramp had a look of frustration that could only be associated with having to babysit another. Luckily for her, Sha thought, the younger of the pair would require absolutely no babysitting. She could handle herself!

Promptly walking up the ramp, making sure to give the woman a sarcastic glare as she did so, Sha entered into the once again forigen vessel. It wasn’t as though she wanted to be on bad terms with this pilot. But Viana had started it! It would have been much easier to be courteous if the other woman hadn’t so obviously not wanted Shamira around. Regardless, she placed her pack onto what looked to be an open bunk, securing it, before turning on a heel to look at the pilot once again. “Would you..mind if I watched in the cockpit with you? Nightmother told me about hyperspace, and it sounds quite beautiful frankly. Something I do want to see.”

Perhaps this woman would warm up to the younger witch. It wasn’t as though Shamira wanted to have miserable pilot the whole trip. It would be beneficial to them both to be happier…but not if the other woman would continue with her rood looks.

The glare that was directed at her caused Viana to arch a brow at the redhead as she passed by. The white haired woman watched for only a moment, and did not let her new charge get too far ahead before she was silently steering the other woman to where she would be resting and could therefore put her things. Once this was accomplished, Vi simply stepped away, near silent in her footing as she did so. With her guest already aboard, there was no reason for her or her ship to linger around any longer than they already had. That in mind, Vi slid effortlessly into her seat and sighed as sh worked to get the craft back up and running.

The engine had no sooner roared to life before she had heard that voice from behind her. The taller of the pair swiveled her chair so that it was at least mostly facing the redheaded witch, and for a time she was very quiet as she seemed to consider this request made. It was reasonable of course; someone who had never been into space wanting to see hyperspace.

So, Vi nodded.

"Have a seat," she offered, gesturing to the seat just slightly behind and to the side of her own before she turned her own chair back around to face the console once again. "And let us hope that not only seeing, but experiencing hyperspace for the first time does not make you violently ill...." Because if it did? Vi would not be the one cleaning it up...

Perhaps this woman wasn’t as completely unreasonable as she might’ve first appeared. And also, there was the possibility that they could get along. At least she was being nice enough to let Sha slowly slink into the cockpit, hopping into the copilots seat. Despite how curious she might have been, her hands stayed firmly planted in her lap, not touching a single thing on the dash. Vytal had been very clear to get through to her the dangers of space travel, and the last thing that the young witch wanted to do was break something. Perhaps piloting something like this could be in the future teachings, and maybe even this woman would talk her through some things, but for the moment, it didn’t seem like something that was worth asking.

Shamira settled into her seat, working hard to settle her breathing down. This was going to be something really beautiful, she had heard, though her little technique to try and settle her excitement wasn’t doing too much. Hands that were so lightly laid in her lap slowly reached out to the armrests on her chair, gripping them tightly as the ship lifted off from it’s landed position and pointed it’s nose toward the skies. It might’ve only lasted a few seconds, but the time until their ship was surrounded by the inky blackness of space felt like hours for the younger witch.

Then, it was nothing but blue. A swirling, light filled, blue tunnel that completely overtook the viewport of the cockpit. She was utterly astonished by the sight of it. There was nothing that she had ever seen that could compare to the site of what was in front of her. Of course, it did make her feel a bit sick, but she was able to fight off that sickness long enough to get a good, clear look before slumping back into her seat with a goofy smile on her face.

After a few moments to catch her breath, she turned her head to look at the older witch, head tilting to the side as the first of what would be many question spilled forth. “So..where exactly do you want to go? I’ve seen my planet, and ryloth. Vytal has told me of these..city planets too.”

Well, one thing this redheaded young witchling had going for her? She listened, and she did so without fuss. That was something that was going to make this trip much, much easier for them both. More tolerable too, most likely. For the time being however, Viana's attention shifted to what she was doing, or needed to be doing rather. The ship had lifted, and when they began to make their way for the atmosphere, Vi had looked over her shoulder to make sure her guest was strapped in, and then her full focus returned to her task at hand.

The ship moved easily from the planet and into open space, and once the white haired witch was sure they had a clear path ahead of them, she put the ship into hyperspace and then set back in her seat with a sigh. There was quiet from her, for quite a while, and even for a time after she had been spoken to again. Where were they going?

A noise was made in the back of Vi's throat, and she swiveled around in her chair so that she was fully facing the other witch now. She crossed one leg over the other and seemed to think for a time before she shrugged a shoulder. "Any place in particular you have a desire to see?" she questioned, lofting a brow as she did so. "The galaxy is literally laid out before us at the moment, so it's merely as simple as deciding where you would like to go and what you would like to see."

This space travel was an extremely interesting thing. To think that there was hundreds, perhaps thousands of planets with people on them out there in the vast darkness was almost overwhelming. But you could travel to each and every one of them quite easily in fact made the whole thing seem so much more accessible. Finding a place to go, then, was a slightly less arduous task as well. “I don’t know of places in particular..though..” She started, accent twinging slightly as she spoke. Her eyes pulled away from the beautiful blue tunnel of lights to look over to the stunningly gorgeous white haired woman.

“Truthfully…” She paused, eyes turning to look out the viewport again. Back home, one of the most important places in a city was a marketplace. People from all over the continent could come and share their most interesting wares. Perhaps then a marketplace opened to groups all over the galaxy could house some new and intriguing items she had never seen before. “Is there a world nearby with a large marketplace?” That probably didn’t narrow things down too much, but there was little she could do about being specific.

With their destination more or less locked in, and having no idea how long a journey like this was supposed to last, the redhead decided to take the time to relax a bit. She reached down to pluck the boots from her feet, placing them to the side, and hopped off the co-pilots seat. Turning to the white haired woman, shamira declared confidently, “I’m going to do a bit of exploring of the ship, if you don’t mind me doing so.” Not that she waited long for the answer from the older witch, as barely as the words came out of her mouth, the redhead was headed toward the back of the shuttle to do her exploring.

Of course, there wasn’t exactly much that she could find in a tiny shuttle. And if any of Viana’s more…rude words came from Shamira’s declaration, there wasn’t many places for the smaller woman to hide. Still, it was a new experience, and soon the redhead found herself in front of what looked like some sort of food machine, with just an obscene amount of blinking lights. Perhaps not as many as Shamira would make it out to be, but it was still easy to overwhelm her at this point.

That was most certainly helpful, now wasn't it? Viana sighed and sank back into her seat in an almost defeated manner, or so it would look. In actuality, she was thinking about just where she wanted to risk taking this fledgling she had agreed to take on. Why had she done this again? Oh yes...good relations and such with the coven. Whatever the case may be, the white haired witch made a noise in her throat and she sat up and worked her fingers against the console to get some coordinates put in.

"Wait, you're going to what?" but by the time that Vi had finished getting the ship set to where she wanted it to go, the redhead was gone from sight. She huffed, then got up from her seat and went after the other witch. The ship wasn't huge, so it didn't take Vi too long to find her guest, and when she did? She loft a brow and fold her arms over her chest.

"Its a food replicator." she informed the other woman. "And while it doesn't have everything in the galaxy to choose from, my collection for food and drinks is pretty good." The white haired witch stepped forward and started pointing so that she could explain how it worked and how to operate it. She explained how to input what was wanted, and the things not to do, and then shrugged both shoulders. "Its pretty simple, so long as you don't let the lights intimidate you."

Shamira didn’t exactly necessarily need the other woman’s help. She wasn’t some sort of helpless babe who couldn’t at least figure out something like this. Surely after a few failed meals and some burning then everything would start working out perfectly. Just needed to let Shamira fail a few times to fully begin to grasp all the machine could offer. But once the woman did start to show her how everything worked, the redhead fell silent, allowing for the white haired woman to get her speech in. Her listening was attentive. Not like if someone was going to offer advice, she would spit in the face of the giver. That didn’t make much sense at all.

Once the other witch had moved away, Shamira began to explore the replicator with a bit more specific interest. There had always been a drink her mother had made, a combination of certain roots, spices, and honey, that had been able to cheer the redhead up since a very young age. Certainly she couldn’t make the recipe exactly, that’d be quite the treat, but there was a chance she could get close enough. After fiddling with the buttons for a few minutes, two failed taste tests, and them followed by being poured down the drain, the younger redhead had seemingly created it to the best of her ability. She poured two cups, proceeding to bring one to the older witch with a smile before settling onto one of the small couches on the shuttle.

“So,” she started, in between sips of her drink, delighting in the way it’s warms and sweetness made it’s way through her veins. “What sort of magic do you specialize in? Or..know.” A little shrug, followed by a few more sips of her drink. “Apparently there’s quite a few I do not know of beyond what my mother was able to teach me.”

Well, bonus points to the redhead for stepping aside, letting Viana demonstrate, and not getting in the way or back talking. That showed promise, that perhaps teaching this naive redheaded witch wouldn't be as difficult as the white haired witch had originally though it would be. She had stepped back after showing how things worked, and she let Shamira try - and fail...and do so again until she got what she wanted, and got it done correctly. Vi had even given soft applause - and not the mocking sort! And when she was offered tea, she accepted it with a noise in her throat and a 'thank you' before she went to take a seat as well. They had time, the ship was on auto-pilot, so why not?

The question that had come from the redhead though seemed to actually made Vi think for a long moment. She had never really sat down and talked magic with anyone - ever. Not more than just basics to prove that she wasn't a fraud. So the question took some serious consideration, mostly because Vi didn't know if she wanted to delve into said information.

But, "I know all sorts of little tricks. Things here and there," she answered with a shrug of the shoulder. "Nothing overly impressive in that department. As for my specialization?" she made a noise in her throat, sipped at her tea, then sighed as the warmth coated her insides. Her gaze then lifted back to Shamira, "I seem to have an affinity for ice." Water too, by default, but she always seemed to reach further and come out with ice.

“You surely know more than just a few tricks.” The redhead retorted, bringing her knees up to sit cross legged as she looked across at the white haired woman. She had been happy to receive a thank you for making the tea, but this thought was long gone now that Vi was starting to talk about her powers. She had an intense desire to hear about all the woman could do, and some ‘tricks’ wasn’t going to cut it. Though hearing about her affinity for ice was welcome word, one that Shamira instantly began to dive into with a smile.

Her hips shifted lightly as she leaned forward, interested to hear more about this ice affinity. “I’ve only seen, or heard, of a few witches to use any sort of ice in their repertoire. Do you use it as more of a defensive tactic, like making walls and blinding enemies.” The redhead’s hands stretched wide, demonstrating this with a smile. Then her hands, curled into fits, pressed against each other, drawing outward slowly, as if creating and holding a long staff. “Or do you like to create weapons with it? The sorcerer on my planet used it that way. He could create some of the most beautiful and sharp weapons.”

Shamira’s grin didn’t dissipate as she learned back against the cushions, tilting her head to listen to anything that Viana might have to say. Eventually, she’d pipe up again, Spanish accent dripping over each and every word that came from her mouth. “We’re quite the opposites in magic, it seems.” Her tea was placed onto the small table in front of her, making sure it was settled, then her eyes looked up to meet the white haired woman’s. With a snap of both her fingers, little flames appeared on the ends of each, flickering ever so lightly. After a few seconds of letting Vi see, she extinguished them, reaching to gather her tea back up.

“I don’t know many tricks with pyromancy,” she started, swaying back and forth as her eyes focused down at her tea. “But I have always been a quick learner, and fire just came naturally to me. Maybe I’ll even pick up some tricks of yours with ice, that I can mirror with fire!”

This sudden eagerness caused Viana to settle back into her seat some more, and she loft a brow at the redheaded witch seated across from her. She both listened, and watched, and slowly but surely a little smirk appeared and curled just one corner of her mouth. She sipped at her tea, even with the smirk still in place, and then she set her cup down beside her without much care over whether it spilled or not - it didn't.

Then before Sha could really finish asking her questions, Vi lifted a hand, twist her wrist, and pulled a shard of ice into existence. It was no bigger than a throwing knife, and she then tossed the shard into the couch cushion beside the redhead - nowhere near close enough to have even come near causing her harm or hitting her with it, but demonstrating her capability with it regardless. "I can use it for defense, and I can use it as a weapon." she made a thoughtful sound and sank back into her seat again after picking up her tea. "I never considered making it into weapons..." she pondered aloud.

When Shamira showed her own element of choice, Vi nodded her head. "Opposites indeed," she let out. "And yet I'm fairly eager to see what you can do, rather than being put off by the fact that our elements clash quite violently."
