SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Pain = Bad. Pleasure = Good. Therefore, Euphorium is good for you. Ask your doctor for a prescription if you live in a totalitarian hellhole that fails to recognise every being's right to freely make poor life choices that pad the corporate bottom line only affect themselves.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
  • Feeling Good: Euphorium produces sensations of intense pleasure and profound contentment, making even the most miserable of beings feel good... until the dose runs out. Heavy doses have been known to place users in a hallucinogenic daze, leaving them quite helpless.
  • Pain is Pleasure: Certain blends are known to convert sensations of pain into sensations of pleasure, useful for keeping patients content on their deathbed... or pushing soldiers (and/or poorly paid manual labourers) past their bodily limits. All for profit the greater good, of course.
  • 'Nonaddictive': While chemically nonaddictive, Euphorium is very much psychologically addictive. 'Reality is poison, give me more!'
DESCRIPTION
Pharmaceuticals is a lucrative business, doubly so for those willing to market their products broadly. While originally designed as a painkiller for use by the terminally ill, Vysh-Kolluri was quick to appeal to the military market - pain is no excuse to stop fighting the good fight*, after all.

Given the pleasurable sensations involved, it quickly found its way onto the recreational market. While many Core Worlds have placed restrictions on the product due to their hatred of fun (and the fact that heavy use is associated with drastically increased risk of heart failure), the same cannot be said for more unregulated markets - on worlds like Denon and Nar Shaddaa, Vysh-Kolluri openly sells the painkiller as a recreational substance.

According to preliminary data, its use as a 'safe' recreational substance is notably more profitable than its use as a painkiller - after all, painkillers are only taken while in pain, but if something becomes a habit it can keep going for years or even decades of tasty, tasty profit.

Coincidentally, Vysh-Kolluri also happens to sell cloned or bionic hearts... and cheap mechanical versions for the lower class.

*'The good fight' is defined as the cause championed by the most valuable client.
