SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Heavy armor plating
Strengths:
  • Power: Plain and simple, the ETX.2 is designed for maximum power and range, utilizing much higher quality Tibanna gas than would be otherwise used, and in greater amounts. Thus, not only can it overpower many shield designs and punch through armor plating, it can carry its maximum damage output over a far longer range than a majority of other designs.
  • Armor: While having heavier plating adds to the weapon’s considerable weight, it was decided that the size of the weapon made it such a blatant target that extra armor plating would be warranted. With dense Turadium used to protect it, standard laser fire isn’t likely to do much damage.
Weaknesses:
  • Turn Rate: Due to its size, the ETX.2 suffers from a very low turn rate, making tracking smaller craft all but impossible and limiting it in true effectiveness to use against capital ships of cruiser or larger size.
  • Bombers: Most mainstream fighters lack the firepower to do significant damage to the battery, but targeting from bombers with their heavier weapons can put it out of commission without too much struggle. 3 or 4 in a concerted effort could do considerable damage to the weapon if left unchecked.
  • Cost/Placement Limitations: The ETX.2 is a massive weapon emplacement, which comes with some natural limitations. For one, it’s so large it can only be placed on ships 1000m or larger, as it has very high power requirements that can only be met by a ship of such size. In addition it is quite a costly weapon, so expensive that it can only be produced on a limited run. While it’s very powerful, it won’t be seen out and about in most areas of the galaxy.
DESCRIPTION

Large ships need large weapons, and the ETX.2 Turbolaser Battery certainly fits the bill. Designed to work as a primary armament for capital ships, the ETX.2 was built to be a weapon that can deliver maximum energy output at long ranges without overloading a power supply, limiting its use to large capital ships. To this end it only carries two barrels, easing the potential strain on the ship’s generator. Most of its power however comes from the use of very high quality Tibanna gas, significantly boosting the damage output and, more importantly, its range. While most common turbolasers lose most of their power past a certain point, the ETX.2 carries its full power much further, allowing for serious bombardment of ships or, in certain cases, ground assets.

While the emplacement’s turn speed and fire rate are undesirable, its power and range make up for it. In addition, heavy turadium plating keeps it protected from fighter weaponry, making bombers the way to go when taking on the ETX.2 in a firefight. While these two features tend to even each other out, one thing that isn’t evened out is the cost of the weapon. A single emplacement costs as much as a Corvette-sized ship, and as such, can only be purchased through a contract with EODD to ensure payment is not only capable by the buyer, but received.
