  • Name: Essedari.
  • Designation: Sentient.
  • Homeworld: Axiar Mellifers (not yet approved)
  • Language: Melliferian.
  • Average Lifespan: 110 years.
  • Estimated Population: Planetary.
  • Description: There is nothing that immediately differentiates an Essedari from a baseline human. The only physical distinctions between them and humans are the light patterns on their skin (easily covered with clothes) and the fact most of them are very attractive.

  • Breathes: Type 1, only.
  • Average height of adults: Females: 1,5m to 1,8m ~ Males: 2m to 2,8m
  • Average length of adults: N/a.
  • Skin color: All human-like colors. Golden tones are more common. They have also been known to display alabaster white, bluish or greenish skin.
  • Hair color: Any. Human-like colors are prevalent.
  • Distinctions:
At first glance, the Essedari do not display any difference from Humans other than their slightly patterned skin and the abnormally tall stature of their males. The Essedari are a race with a very pronounced sexual dimorphism, with the males being far taller and larger in build than their female counterparts. The patterns an Essedari bears on their skin can come in almost any shape, size and location though stripes or spots are more prevalent and they usually appear on the back and upper arms. However, this can easily be passed as tattoos.

Internally, the Essedari are very different from humans. Their bodies posses a lot more organs, most of them known as the 'dormant organs'. This organs and glands, that are not usually active, are the ones that permit them to adapt so quickly to their environments. Whenever they come into contact with an environment or climate in which their body does not feel comfortable, it starts a process to activate the corresponding dormant organs and develop the necessary external structure to adapt to this new surrounding.

Another of the most notable characteristic of the Essedari is that, like some animals, they change colors with the seasons. This characteristic was also possessed by their predecessors, the Darii, and apparently it had held the function of camouflaging them accordingly to their surroundings. In the colder season, the Essedari's tend to display paler and cooler shades of skin, hair and eye color while turning to warmer, golden and brown tones during the summer and spring.
  • Races: Not divided into races.
  • Strengths:
Biologically enhanced and hardened: Due to the successful experimentation with their own genome, Essedari managed to attain a brilliant immune system and metabolism. They are highly resistant to pathogens and toxins and can withstand exposure to most of them with little to no negative reaction whereas others cannot. Many vaccines and antidotes have been created by studying the way in which an Essedari's system reacts towards them.
  • Intelligent: Harboring a higher than average intelligence and swiftness of mind, the Essedari tend to be renowned scientists, researchers, mechanics, engineers and architects and professionals usually excel in their fields of work.
  • Good senses: Their senses of smell and sight are very acute.
  • Environmental adaptation: Probably the characteristic for which they are best known, the Essedari are able to adapt quite quickly to the environment they are in. This ability is not applicable to breathing in atmospheres lacking a proper amount of oxygen and the more adaptations needed, the more time the Essedari requires to morph into them. Adapting to heat or cold usually takes them about an hour. Adapting to aquatic, windy, dark environments in which they need to form new structures (for example, gills and webbing between their fingers to swim) require at least two days of exposure. The adaptations occur automatically whether the Essedari wants them or not.

[*]Weaknesses:
  • Well balanced atmosphere: The Essedari can only survive in an atmosphere containing a proper amount of oxygen. Whereas a baseline human could survive breathing in a Type II atmosphere for a short period of time, to an Essedari a Type II atmosphere lacks enough balance for them to require to wear a breath mask. Since they lack the dormant structures to be able to adapt and filter the new air, an Essedari would only have less than a couple of minutes before they die.
  • Simple diet: Their digestive system is accustomed to the consumption of simpler, natural foods and cannot cope well with the chemicals and refined sugars found in the processed ones. If an Essedari were to ingest processed food, they would experience food poisoning lasting up to a day until their body can get rid of the offending chemicals.
  • Slow healers: Though cuts and the like heal at a normal rate, an Essedari's bones take longer to fuse and have a high chance of not healing correctly. This is particularly true for their thinner bones.
  • Sensitive noses: The receptors in their nasal membranes are easily overridden by strong, pungent smells causing serious discomfort and pain. This usually comes hand in hand with the watering of their eyes, diminishing their sight and if exposed for too long, they might later develop an inflammation of the nasal membranes resulting in strong headaches and face pain. (much like sinusitis without the fever)
  • High vitamin and mineral demand: Their bodies, systems and brains might be wonderful machines but they come at a cost. Though the caloric intake they need to have is similar to that of a human, they require larger amounts of vitamins and minerals to function correctly. If these are not sufficiently present in their nourishment, the Essedari experience a general state of fatigue and asthenia (weakness). Most Essedari need to take supplements to make up for this need unless they keep very strict, specific diets.
  • Immunological system weakness and override: Despite their seemingly invincible defenses, there are ways to infect an Essedari. If a strong virus or bacteria is directly injected into their bloodstream, this will cause their alert and powerful immune system to go into an override and cause what is known as a cytokine storm or hypercytokinemia. Normally, this is a bodies last resort to try and save itself from fatal infection by unleashing all of its arsenal but in the case of an Essedari, this reaction is triggered simply by the potential of a dangerous infection. This will immediately send the Essedari into a state of semi-unconsciousness, high fever, extreme pain and redness, incapacitating them almost instantly. A cytokine storm is potentially fatal and excruciatingly painful, for the Essedari it is an act of mercy to put down any who hasn't yet come out of it passed 48 hours since its beginning. The seriousness of the cytokine storm goes in accord with the nature of the virus/bacteria. Weaker viruses will only put them in a state of confusion and general discomfort, only the stronger and commonly lethal unleash the full strength of hyercytokinemia.

  • Diet: Omnivorous. Cannot consume processed foods or refined sugars since these have ill effects to their health and digestive systems.
  • Communication: Verbal, written and kinetic (just like humans).
  • Technology level: The Essedari posses cutting edge technology, specially in the fields of scientific research, genetic engineering, space and land crafts, armor and defensive structures and the innovative creations they call Ecotech. Ecotech is all technology either environmentally friendly or with the function of cleaning, restoring, maintaining and safeguarding a healthy atmosphere and environment.
  • Religion/Beliefs: They are liberal people with a secular government, no specific religion is widely practiced among the Essedari.
  • General behavior: The Essedari are known to be an intelligent and liberal people with pleasant dispositions. Polite and generally very hospitable, they rarely have difficulties to interact with other sentients or find their place among a social group. Passionate and dedicated, they tend to approach subjects in a focused and consistent manner and see any task they set their minds to to completion. Sometimes, it is hard for them to understand that not all societies are as free-minded and helpful towards others and thus most of the disagreements they have with other sentients are related to morals and societal beliefs.
However, it is necessary to remember that just like Humans the Essedari can display widely different personalities and behaviors from one another.

The Essedari are a genetically engineered species, created by their predecessors belonging to the same species: the Dari. Once the Dari had developed a sufficient technological level, they grew interested in the matters of genetic modification and enhancement and started experimenting on their own species. At first, many lives were lost and failure met them around every corner. Until finally, a Dari scientist known as Epax Yarn found the correct way in which to enhance their species without lethal secondary effects. As soon as the first group of successfully enhanced was created, they started selectively breeding them to ensure that their best characteristics grew stronger with each generation.

This new, bettered Dari race became known as the Essedari. After some generations, the Essedari conformed the better part of Axiar Mellifers society. At this time, the Essedari started showing a serious disagreement with their forebearers ways of handling technology and the natural resources necessary to develop it, they were destroying their planet. A war ensued, one which was won by the Essedari and caused the near extinction of the Dari. The Dari that had survived fled the world and later died, falling into extinction. The Essedari started rebuilding and protecting their planet in an environmentally viable manner and established the members of the Eyron family as their rulers (kings and queens).

So I actually this sub quite a lot, but I do have one issue that needs addressed:
  • Right now, the strengths and weaknesses don't really balance out. Currently we have enhanced immune systems/heightened resistance to poisons/toxins/disease, heightened intelligence, enhanced strength and reflexes, heightened senses, and environmental adaptability for strengths and those are balanced by they can't go into certain atmospheres without protection, their diet can't have processed foods and need additional vitamins, slow healing, and headaches from strong smells. I would like to see one additional physical weakness that might come up in roleplay scenarios such as PvP or PvE, and the dropping of one strength.
