STRENGTHS
  • Small & Light: The Espresso is both small an light, making it easy to bring along to a battlefield or other settings without encumbering the wearer.
  • High Powered: This weapon packs a serious punch for being a slughthrower pistol and while it does not fire laser bolts, the slugs it fires can still be most dangerous. This amplifies the advantage that slugs have over laser bolts in the sense that the bullets can travel very fast.
  • Can keep position hidden: Unlike laser bolts, the slugs don't necessarily create a bright light in their path. With the right attachments, a person carrying the Espresso can stay hidden more effectively than someone with a traditional blaster.
  • Mechanical: This weapon does not care for EMPs or electronical failures. It will function regardless.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not laser bolts: It is in the nature of laser bolts to possess more destructive power than bullets and even though this blaster has a good stopping power, its projectiles are still not lasers.
  • Force: Slugs are easier to redirect through force usage than laser bolts.
  • Ammunition: Different slug throwers have different calibres and slug throwers are not a very common sight to begin with. This means that it can be hard to salvage ammunition on the go.
  • Reloading: Unless using a special aiding mechanism, each bullet has to be loaded into the Espresso individually.
  • Lethality: Unfortunately, slugthrowers cannot be put in stun mode.
DESCRIPTION
The Espresso Revolver was created by Mathieu Brion after joining the Silver Jedi Concord. While he did not have any intents on actually using the weapon himself originally, it soon became obvious that it could have its uses anyways. The name 'Espresso' comes from Mathieu thinking about the gun while drinking coffee and finding it amusing how both were small but still packed a punch.

Overall, the Espresso was a rather average pistol with its main advantage being its small size. This is where its primary strength laid as people could easily bring the weapon along as a sidearm that complemented their primary weapon with minimal additional encumbrance.

The way in which this slugthrower can complement another weapon can vary depending on the preference of the user. Often, it comes down to one of two factors. One is that the Espresso does not require electronics which means that it can still be most reliable in the case of being affected by an EMP - something which cannot be said for all weapons. Another factor is that the gun can be equipped with attachments which makes it stealthier than traditional blasters.

Naturally, it is not without cause that blaster weapons are more common across the galaxy as slugthrowers still have numerous weaknesses. For the Jedi, one such weakness would be that the Espresso cannot be put in stun mode like a blaster could. Still, since this weapon often acts as a sidearm to complement other weapons, it is less of a problem.
