- Modularity and Adaptability: Purpose build with the idea of a human soldier in all but the flesh, the Eshkrene Class Battle Droid was developed in part to ensure the continued protection of the worlds that have signed on to join the Confederacy as well as other prospective buyers of the product. The Eshkrene Class Battledroid maintains the ability to use weapons as well as controls for vehicles and ships that were designed for humans, and with the use of a capable Droid Brain is capable of varied and somewhat complex roles on the battlefield. While not nearly as capable as heavier or more advanced models, the slim frame of the droid allows for the droid to be capable of being fielded in large quantities in a variety of situations.
- Personal Energy Shielding: Taking a lesson from old technology more popular in the Old Republic and High Republic Eras, the droid comes outfitted with a personal energy shield to help weather blaster fire, heat, and cold damage to the droid. This is done to provide some level of durability beyond the metal shelling and to allow for the droid to seamlessly operate in a number of biomes, making their wide spread use easier and with less worry.
- Dime a dozen: While the Eshkrene was made to ensure the human element can remain on the battlefield without risking the lives of the recovering populaces in the Scar Worlds, it remains a rather simple droid. While the use of central command ships are not needed like with the early B1 Battle Droid, the droids are incapable of larger operations without a tactical droid or active communication to a designated command and control droid or individual. Furthermore, the droids lack the creativity that comes from a living soldier, making for more rigid warfare that cannot adapt as quickly unless given new orders.
- Battery Life: While not nearly as taxing as the similarly shielded Striker War Droid, the Eshkrene does suffer from a larger battery load. This requires a larger battery kept in the back of the droid as well as requires the droids to be recharged more often. This can hamper long term operations where sufficient charging stations or resupply of batteries could become an issue for the droids.
The Eshkrene Class Battle Droid is the first new product being produced by the Keshiri Driveworks as a response to the newly increased production capabilities that have been granted to the company as well as the Confederacy after the operation that saw the planet Daiyu taken over by the Warlord Darth Vodrux. This Battle Droid was designed and submitted for tests as a result of the battle taking the lives of a number of soldiers that were becoming more and more limited in numbers. As such the old Prometheus Droid Brain would be taken and implemented into a new battle droid, allowing for a versatile and adaptable battledroid to be created, one that would replace human lives on the battlefield or at the very least supplement them.
The requirements that came as a result of the droids replacing human lives gave the droids a very human appearance as well as a similar height, though still taller than most humans. This allowed for them to be seemlessly put into roles that required them, such as crewing ships or vehicles that required such as well as their place on the battlefield using weapons that had already been in use by soldiers of the Confederacy. Further, the use of Personal Energy Shielding allowed for these droids to be more capable of operating on the barren or terraformed worlds out on the edge of the galaxy, letting them more easily fight at the sides of their organic counterparts.
