Approved Tech ESDS - Explosive Seismic Defense system

Not open for further replies.

  • Intent: A last ditch defense effort for starships. Possibly innovative?
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Restricted Missions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
  • Manufacturer: Corondex Arms
  • Model: N/A
  • Affiliation: Closed-Market
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Mass-Produced. (Anyone.))
  • Material: Duranium-plated frame, seismic wave generator
  • Seismic Explosion
  • Seismic Explosion: A spherical explosion of Void-7 level seismic is projected from outside the ship to deter any form of projectiles, including energy based ones.

  • Last Stand: As it can be only activated when the shields are deactivated, the ESDS is a system created to give a battered starship one last shot of survival by deterring any form of projectile/physical/energy attack from reaching the ship.
Weaknesses :
  • Shields Down: Only capable to be used if the shields are deactivated (whether by command or destroyed).
  • Three Bursts: Cheat death thrice. Three Waves before the ESDS shuts down for over ten minutes to recharge. Make it count.
  • Up to Frigates: Cannot be mounted on starships that are over the 500m length.

The ESDS is the first technology Corondex has produced in the naval sphere of warfare. It comes after Vitor's focus on diversifying the portfolio of Corondex with the attempt to gain a competitive advantage in the highly saturated arms and military technology market.

It is a system that begins with a generator and conduits spread around the hull of the ship. At an order of activation, the conduits would protrude and expel the massive seismic wave. The result of the conduits firing seismic waves is all wide sphere of seismic waves that stop any form of attack (does not include obvious attacks such as jamming/EWAR and similar) right at its tracks.

The systems is designed to be used as a last ditch effort to survive. When the shields are down, the flak guns or anti-missile octets are either nonexistent on the ship or completely disabled and your crew requires just a little bit wider frame than the guns of the enemy ship is giving you, then that's when the ESDS comes in action.

Creative captains have found different uses for the systems such as clearing asteroid fields or risking to drop the shields down just to rip to shreds these schools of bombers coming towards your ship. A variety of uses could be found with the ESDS depending on the captain.

Nonetheless, the risks and limits are there. So pay attention.
