GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Erzu
  • Designation: Non-Sentient
  • Origins: A distant domesticated relative of the Tortuga Hound
  • Average Lifespan: 30 Years
  • Estimated Population: Common
  • Description: The Erzu was a common pet popular on rural and watery worlds that saw the beginning stages of development before the end of the Gulag plague. A medium to large-sized reptomamal, they were often used as hunting companions, family pets, and mascots. Loyal and playful, they also had a strong bite and the stranger aggression to match. Bred from crossing the Tortuga Hounds of Naboo and the Loth-Wolf of Lothal by a rich Muun with too much money and time the breed almost saw extinction. Recent efforts in a post-Gulag Plague galaxy, however, have seen its resurgence.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Created over centuries of selective breeding, the Erzu was developed by renowned exotic animal breeder Tip Faphos. Born and raised in the riches of the Muunilinst banking clans Tip had everything he'd ever wanted. He graduated with a degree in xenobiology and biology while simultaneously completing veterinary school. His career began with several now popular domesticated animal species such as the Pygmy Nexu. His first encounter with the Tortuga Hound came from a company visit to the planet of Naboo. Enamored by the beast he purchased several and began experimenting and breeding the beasts for his own amusement. Eventually, he decided that the strengths of the Tortuga Hound would be wonderful in a smaller, Coruscant-living sized package and so he began his program.

After a decade of selective breeding between the Tortuga Hound and the Loth-Wolf, the first liter of Erzu was born. A hunting and family canine companion with the ability to swim quickly and find prey it served as a wonderful pointer. It also could serve as a baying hound, flushing game from the pushes or brush. The Erzu was also a wonderful lapdog, with both the numbing poison of the Tortuga Hound, the stranger aggression, and animal aggression all but bred out of the new species. Unfortunately, Tip Faphos would succumb to the Gulag Plague, though the breed would live on and become a popular pet. They didn't get along well with felines, especially the increasingly popular Loth-Cat of Lothal.
