    • Other: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Stealth Applications: Due to it's heat resistant nature, Ersteel can be used for engine pods and weapon covers, making it much harder for sensors and heat scanners to pick up on a heat signature of any vessel using this material as plating or weapons|engines using it as cover.
STRENGTHS
  • Heat Resistant: Due in part to the carbonite component within the alloy, Ersteel can boast a high resistance to elemental properties, with in particular heat, which thus also improves its resistance against fires, atmospheric re-entry heat, high velocity friction heat and plasma based weaponry.
  • Very High Energy Resistance: Due to it's very good heat resistance paired with a very high density, this alloy has a very high resistance against energy based weaponry such as lasers and the likes.
  • Very High Kinetic resistance: Due to an even higher density than Ersteel 1333 and ersteel 145, ersteel 12231 can boast an impressively high level of resistance against any kinetic based weaponry, but also against space debris and collisions, providing very impressive structural integrity for ships, vehicles and other creations using this material.
WEAKNESSES
  • Extremely Weak to corrosive weaponry: Though it has a heacy density, the fact that it's an alloy of metallic and non-metallic components, it's fragility lies in the fact that corrosive material can dissolve the bindings between those two parts of the alloy, weakening it substantially.
  • Not a good conductor: Ersteel 12231 due to it's heat resistance is a rather bad conductor of electricity and heat and thus has practically no use in electronics.
DESCRIPTION
Ersteel started as an alternative to the regularly used Durasteel which is used in practically every part of daily society ranging from home appliances to massive machines of war. To somewhat mitigate the cost of constantly importing various minerals needed for the production of durasteel, The Eriadu government commissioned the N&Z Umbrella Corporation to either find a solvable alternative or to find a way to at the very least lessen the burden of the durasteel refining within the eriadu system and to lower it's reliance on other systems for the production of its materials.

After many trials and tribulations, metallurgists and engineers employed by the company managed to come up with an answer. Despite their best efforts, they had not yet been able to figure out a full alternative for the production of Durasteel, but increasing the use of doonium: a material more readily available within the Eriadu system was seen as a plausible answer to the more pressing problem. Through trial and tribulation, the metallurgists managed to come up with a first variety of what they dubbed Ersteel or Eriaduan Steel, by decisively combining Durasteel with a large amount of Doonium. Though first tests did show great promise, it was soon discovered that the alloy still lacked something, as it eroded rapidly and was rather succeptible to heat. Further testing was done within the laboratories on Eriadu, until the solution was found in binding the basic compound with carbonite, thus mitigating most of the erosion and heat resistance issues.

A further update to both the Ersteel 145 and the Ersteel 1333 sees the creation of Ersteel 12231, which lowered the amount of both doonium and durasteel being used even further, while adding the rare Hfredium mineral to the mix, hfredium and Chanlon together already form a known, strong alloy called Havod, however combined with the low amounts of durasteel, doonium and Carbonite in the mix, allow for an even denser, more kinetically resistant alloy than even Ersteel 1333, but also increased the production costs and difficulty for production, thus forcing it to be limited to very small production numbers when it comes to being used as a material in ship and vehicle building. Though it has some very useful applications for the creation of weaponry as well, thanks to its heat resistance and kinetic resistance, making it a perfect material for in particular the creation of slugthrower barrels for highpowered rifles.
