OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To sub a major recurring NPC.
  • Image Credit: Art by Brom
  • Role: Errol is the sole living servant at Tintagel, the father of Nineveh, and for all intents and purposes, Arrius Messala’s foster son.
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: None
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: Early 30s.
  • Force Sensitivity: Knight
  • Species: 1/2 Arkanian Offshoot; Mixed Togruta and Human or Near-Human ancestry
  • Appearance: Pale, gaunt, and frail, Errol Aylmer stands out in a crowd. His white hair he lets grow long, down almost to his elbows, and his eyes, while originally blue, are now red. Outside of battle he wears the long black robes of a scholar or judge, swathing his long thin body in heavy dark cloth. In combat he dons armor and a cloak decorated with the feathers of a raven.
  • Voice Sample: Night Mind
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Errol Aylmer
  • Loyalties: Primarily to Arrius Messala and Nineveh Aylmer; the Sith Empire.
  • Wealth: Partial ownership of his father's company, For All Seasons, means Errol shares in its profits. He also frequently serves as a mercenary soldier-for-hire contracted to various organizations.
  • Notable Possessions: A Sith Sword and light armor.
  • Skills: Sword combat; Force abilities include telekinesis (particularly choke) and Stun.
  • Personality: Errol Aylmer is fairly unemotional. He cares little for others and has no problem dirtying his hands, so to speak. His concerns are typically selfish in nature, and he isn't particularly smart or cunning. He is more of a thug or henchman than a leader.
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice: Sith Sword
  • Combat Function: Errol prefers to use a Sith Sword in combat, and he is quite adept with it. His use of the Force is geared toward offensive abilities which wound his opponents or wear them down.
Strengths:
  • Warrior: Errol is skilled in battle, particularly with the use of a Sith Sword. His level of experience qualifies him as a war veteran, and he isn't afraid to fight dirty and get creative.
  • Ruthless: While he projects an outward shyness and concern for others' wellbeing, Errol is willing to do anything to accomplish a goal, including hurting and killing innocents. There is no limit to what he can do in the name of something he truly believes in. His timidity is merely a front to hide this inner sociopathy.
Weaknesses:
  • Physically Frail: Errol's body has been plagued by various maladies for his entire life. He relies on alchemy and medicine to keep himself healthy. Deprived of these, his body will rapidly begin to fail him.
  • Apathy Is Death: Errol doesn't really care about the broader repercussions of his actions. He cares only about himself and the handful of people whose company he enjoys, or who are most useful to him. This careless attitude has led to him offending and enraging others, to his detriment. Those who have seen his true face find that there is little to like about him, and he has few friends and allies who would be willing to assist him.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Errol is the only child produced from the short-lived union of Aylmer, a talented but morally conflicted alchemist who had been trained by the Sith only to turn away from their doctrine, and a beautiful Togruta/Near-Human hybrid named Omie who suffered from a mild physical deformity. The two met while working for a traveling circus; Aylmer used his skills to create Sithspawn creatures for the freakshow, while Omie was herself a main attraction.

Prior to their marriage, the circus manager had purchased a young Half-Bothan slave named Arrius Messala who was extremely deformed, apparently from birth, for the express purpose of making him the new centerpiece of the freakshow. Despite this, Messala endeared himself to Omie, who sympathized with him. Aylmer likewise pitied Messala and indulged the boy's interest in alchemy, taking him on as an unofficial apprentice.

Aylmer and Omie continued to work for the circus after their marriage and the birth of their son Errol. But marriage and fatherhood made Aylmer restless - he had never been at peace with his chosen profession anyway - and he had become increasingly obsessed with Omie's deformity. He convinced her to let him try removing it with alchemy, arguing that she would be released from her service to the circus and the young family could seek out a better life elsewhere. He succeeded in making her truly "perfect" - at the cost of Omie's life.

Following Omie's tragic death, Aylmer bound his wedding ring with a void stone and vowed to never practice alchemy again, much to Messala's frustration. No longer of any use to the circus, Aylmer and the infant Errol were thrown out. Messala escaped the circus and went looking for them in the wilderness of Ambria. By the time he found them, Aylmer was past saving, but Errol was alive. Messala took the child with him and attempted to leave the planet, only to become lost on his way back.

Messala and Errol had not only wandered off course, but directly into the path of Erictho, a Shi'ido witch and necromancer. She captured them and held them as her prisoners. When she threatened to kill them by draining their Force energies, Messala convinced her to spare them by offering to become her servant. She agreed to these terms. Messala took the opportunity to learn the art of necromancy from Erictho by watching her conduct rituals and memorizing her spells. Errol grew up in the company of the hateful witch, who gradually came to dote upon him.

Eventually, Messala conspired to kill Erictho. He enlisted Errol's help. The boy was now nine years old and had been taught how to use the Dark Side by Erictho. He and Messala managed to kill the witch and left Ambria. The two made a new life for themselves on Chaldea, where Messala enrolled in the Chaldean Academy. He warned Errol never to openly use the Dark Side while in the presence of others, as they would be charged and arrested by the local authorities. Errol became a troubled, directionless teenager, prone to bouts of anger and mischief.

During the Chaldean Civil War, he enlisted on the side of the Potentium. This was the young man's first taste of battle, and he found it easy to kill. In later years he would go on to fight in other conflicts alongside Messala and on his own, including a campaign at Ankhypt. He fought with the Sith Empire in its earliest forms, and campaigned against various forces throughout the galaxy while serving as a wandering mercenary.

More recently, he met and began a relationship with a Sith Changeling woman named Gwen. The two had a daughter together, Nineveh Aylmer. Fatherhood has hindered Errol's soldiering, and he seems to have all but hung up his sword for good in favor of home life. But this may only be a temporary interest of his before he rides into battle once more.
