OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a drug used with some regularity by Darth Carnifex’s upcoming apprentice, Titos Antonides, created by Titos’ own mother.
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Sith Alchemy
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Name: Empyrean Miasma, though it is also known as Black Ash, or Force Ash
  • Manufacturer: Darth Mallus, the mother of Titos Antonides, and her illegal manufacturing apparatus buried within the Antonides Merchant Company
  • Affiliation: N/A
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Modularity: Extremely easy to modify. May be cut with other things, and be less effective, more addictive, and/or more dangerous. Those that know their way around, however, are aware that there is more or less a collective of “trusted” dealers known for selling it as a pure product.
  • Production: Limited. Available via black market, or directly from the Antonides Merchant Company if you have the right connections.
  • Material: The alchemized, cremated remains of sentient or non-sentient force-sensitive organic beings - molded with energies from the Netherworld of the Force. It does, however, have a history of being composed primarily out of sentient ones.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  • Classification: Drug
  • Method of Consumption: Inhalation through nostrils via what is often an oval shaped canister (traditional method), or similarly to other inhaled drugs. Can be snorted any way you want, really, but the “polite” or “classy” way is through the oval shaped canister. Can be inhaled numerous times.\
  • Average Life: Effects will last for 1 hour per inhale. Up to two hours per inhale if both nostrils are used.
  • Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: Potential for addiction (though it can often be used as a recreational/casual drug by people without any risk of addiction), over reliance, loss in confidence of force abilities. Can cause moderate insomnia after even just one use. As it greatly reduces fatigue, this can lead to increased usage, and will eventually lead to a crash.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Enhances the potency of force reflexes, force powers, force senses, and capacity in general by a rank. If used on a Master, it will enhance them past their natural potential.
  • Used on people of any Midichlorian count, it will temporarily enhance reflexes, provide basic force senses, and light telepathic (short ranged comminication) and empathic (sense) capabilities. causes moderate insomnia, often leading to people using it more as it reduces fatigue. users that do this will eventually crash pretty hard.
  • Use of this can provide a temporary protection against force canceling abilities. At max, they will only be able to reduce the user's force sensitivity by a rank while Force Ash is still influencing their body. Comes in an oval shaped canister able to sit in the pocket, that can be inhaled from.
STRENGTHS
  • Enhances the potency of force reflexes, force powers, force senses, and capacity in general by a rank. If used on a master, it will enhance them past their natural potential.
  • Causes a temporary sensation of euphoria, as well as greatly reducing fatigue and stress, and enhancing focus.
  • Used on people of any Midichlorian count, it will temporarily enhance reflexes, provide basic force senses, and light telepathic (short ranged communication) and empathic (sense) capabilities. causes moderate insomnia, often leading to people using it more as it reduces fatigue. users that do this will eventually crash pretty hard.
  • Use of this can provide a temporary protection against force canceling abilities. At max, they will only be able to reduce the user's force sensitivity by the minimum rank (apprentice) while Force Ash is still influencing their body.
WEAKNESSES
  • Power, Not Skill - Note, however, it cannot replace the skills learned by ascending to this rank naturally and will not grant access to additional force powers or anything of the type. it simply amps up what is already there, and what is already known.
  • Like all similar substances, it has a potential for addiction. While recreational usage exists, there is about a 50% chance of becoming addicted to the substance. Without access to it, addicted users will undergo withdrawals, which have the potential to be fatal without access to medical assistance.
  • Repeated use will warp someone further towards the dark side and the thinking of dark siders, as it will corrupt one’s personality very slowly, a fact that is not known to anyone except the Mallus Cabal. This kind of warping is impossible to avoid while addicted.
  • Can dull the senses of the nose over time.
  • Will not have any effect of any kind on Force Dead.
DESCRIPTION
Empyrean Miasma, the Black Ash, Force Ash is an alchemical product crafted with energies from the Netherworld of the Force. An explosively popular creation of the Force that appeared in the hands of tens of thousands of dealers suddenly overnight, it forms the backbone of Darth Mallus’ illicit criminal empire. With the dealers dedicated to a code of secrecy, and a concerted effort to interfere with investigations into it, it was banned on dozens of worlds within a week of the discovery of its existence but it has yet to actually be stopped in its spread. As insidious as the spread of the dark side itself, Empyrean Miasma is the source of great wealth for the Antonides family and a thing that has infected Darth Mallus’ son himself. Known to stimulate midichlorians and reinforce them against interference sources, Empyrean Miasma is also popular amongst bounty hunters, mercenaries, and soldiers that need a boost in combat. Used in the helmets of Darth Mallus’ stormtroopers, this is the reason for them exhibiting a higher hit rate (an important thing for a class of soldier notorious for missing. They really should train them better), focus, performance in combat, and clarity in action whether they be in command or a mere footsoldier. Used in the hands of a Sith, they can alter the balance of power between them and another, though never the balance of skill as, contrary to popular belief, not all things are possible through the force.

How does this handle Ysalamiri or technological force canceling measures such as force collars and the like?

It works on all of the above. It will last until the drugs wear off. The effect is broad spectrum, but completely temporary. If you can't re-up, its effects end and won't return. It's more versatile in that regards than Empyrean Glands, but the issue is that it is a.) potentially very addictive, b.) not permanent, and c.) negatively alters your personality over time.

As things that counteract ysalamiri are still very rare to come by, if you intend to keep that effect I will need it reduced in production from minor to limited. Otherwise remove it entirely, and keep it at minor.

does my Empyrean Miasma absolutely have to be reduced to Limited? It's supposed to be mass produced for a conspiracy to produce more negative energy in the galaxy so that it can be harnessed. Ysalamari, void stones, and other anti-force stuff are so widespread in usage that stuff to counter it should be more popular by now, and imo it places people who want to counter anti-force stuff at a significant disadvantage. With the limitations that this has, with it having a time limit to how it works, I think that it could be justified to be Minor in all honesty especially because it's supposed to be a very popular drug and is a major plot device for a story-focused concept.

If that still doesn't justify it, could we say that it has widespread use but mechanically is restricted? As a compromise, I mean.

Since Force Users themselves are exceptionally rare, there is no tangible reason why a drug that improves force sensitivity would ever need to be that high production. If Minor can serve for entire governments, Limited can fit for general purpose force users and not break the standards of balance for the site.

Story focused, popular, or major plot aside - it needs to be limited. Even claiming wide spread use doesn't make much sense since again Force Users themselves are rare.

It does make sense, though. It's designed for use by more than force-sensitives. It twists the personality of everyone who uses it, and temporarily can provide advantages to anyone compatible as long as they aren't force dead. The most popular users are, in fact, non-force sensitives like bounty hunters as it gives them a noticeable advantage. The personality changes will create enough of an energy difference that said energy can be harnessed.
