STRENGTHS

• High Quality: The material distribution in the armor composite provides a high range of protection, particularly against energy weapons and kinetic impacts. It is somewhat less resistant against vibro-lacerations, but can survive a few glancing blows from a lightsaber.
  
  
• Cortosis Overlay: The armorweave body glove is fitted with a cortosis-fabric overlay, providing excellent coverage against lightsaber strikes. Several repeated strikes, however, will still degrade or even destroy the material.
  
  
• Dark Side: The Sarrassian iron in the composite resonates with the Dark Side. This can enhance Sith battle meditation over elite troopers who wear the armor, and provides a limited resistance against Light Side powers.

WEAKNESSES

• Dark Stench: The Sarrassian iron can be felt and sensed by those who are force-sensitive. A Jedi, for example, would have no trouble picking an elite trooper out of the bunch. The electrum finish is also distinct enough to be singled out.
  
  
• Force Nullification: The application of force nullification or similar effects will negate the benefits of the iron.
  
  
• Limited Coverage: The armor pieces do not provide full-body coverage, leaving much of the body glove exposed.

DESCRIPTION

Strictly speaking, elite-variant Sith battle armor is just the officer-variant with slightly purer chromium and an electrum finish. Its real quality differential is that the elite-variant plating is paired with a cortosis-armorweave body glove. Elite troopers are expected to go toe-to-toe with Jedi, so the very high energy resistance helps them survive multiple blows from a lightsaber that might otherwise maim, dismember, or kill them.

Of course, the bodyglove isn’t impervious, and the plating itself doesn’t contain any cortosis. That said, the high-purity chromium does increase the standard energy resistance of the armor, but does not otherwise help against repeated strikes from the lightsaber in the same way as the cortosis-armorweave. However, by relying on a higher-quality bodyglove to do the heavy lifting, the elite-variant armor remains relatively light for its level of protection.
