SPECIAL FEATURES

: Resistant To Elements:
The LOR-6 is highly resistant to the elements of many worlds. It was designed to be both well insulated and cooling depending on the environment.
: Carry Pouches:
Has both small and large pouches on the legs for carrying small items, such as ammunition. Maybe even a snack if that floats your boat.

STRENGTHS

  • Acid Resistance - By using a combination of an armor-weave, fiberplast, ployfibe, and rubber mesh, the undersuit is highly effective towards acid. Note to the user- prolonged exposure to acidic elements will still eat through the suit.
  • Heat Resistance - While contact with a direct flame would burn through the undersuit, it keeps the heat from reaching dangerous levels that would potentially harm the user.
  • Cold Resistance - Is extremely resistant to cold temperatures, able to keep it sealed out, and by using an insulating layer it can keep a user warm with their own body heat.
WEAKNESSES
  • Like Sheet Metal - Although the undersuit does make use of armor-weave and fiberplast materials, known for being quite sturdy, it offers very little protection against blaster bolts alongside slugs, but less so. As to be expected, a lightsaber would also make short work of it too, if not shorter.
  • Electric conductivity - While the use ployfibe of is what provides most of the suit's outer protection, it makes it highly susceptible to electric elements. Ion weapons are especially effective against it.

DESCRIPTION
The LOR-6 is a simple undersuit developed to be worn under more practical armor, taking bases from the body glove worn by imperial stormtroopers of old. However, this undersuit was designed to be heavier on environmental protection, offering defense against blistering heat to intense cold. It even provides protection against acid, via the use of a synthetic rubber compound layered with armor-weave and fiberplast, over these layered pieces is an outer polyfibe layer.

The suit is air-tight, the rubber compound used offering a well-insulated wall against both hot and cold environments. While there were originally intentions to add a self-heating element to the suit, it was discovered that it could be made in such a way that the body heat of the user could provide enough for survival. Of course, this made the LOR-6 less favorable to cold-blooded users. This has since been admitted to being an oversight by Ephraim Arms, yet because of how widely available the piece of equipment already is, there aren't many things that can be done about it.

Due to all these environmental protections, certain areas had to be cut back a bit for the budget. Simply put, a blaster bolt could through the thing like blue butter. While slugs were less effective due to the armor-weave and ployfibe, it was still able to cut through. This lack of combat protection could most likely be attributed to how thin the armor-weave and ployfibe layers are. They are both positioned as the outermost layers, with fiberplast and rubber layers behind them. Still, they both provide some protection against other combatants, however little. Senior designer Wiken described the bolt-riddled test suits as smelling like a 'stripped droid'. Following that, it was reported by other testers that it also produced an odor similar to that of ship exhaust when slugs pierced it.

A side effect of the ployfibe layer is its high electric conductivity. During testing, it was discovered that ion weapons could potentially fry the user if the suit was breached. While it was originally intended for the suit to use a plastoid element, it would have only provided minimal protection against blasters and slugthrowers. Altogether, the ployfibe seemed to be the best choice. Of course, that was until they started ion weapons testing but the suit. Still, the design was used over the original. This downside did lead to a rather funny nickname for the suit, droid Hide. To quote senior designer Wiken on the matter, "Putting one of those things on makes you nearly as vulnerable to ion blasters as those poor sods do. Don't know they'd see this thing as an insult, frankly I think it's kind of funny."

Unannounced to Wiken, it was seen as an insult to many droids in the company.
