SPECIAL FEATURES
: Modular:
Has some lite modability, being able to make use of different sights, including scopes. If you're skilled enough, you can implement a sound and blast suppression unit into the weapon, for covert operations. The process is tricky, however, given the internal systems it already houses.
: Detachable Stock:
The stock of the carbine is detachable, mainly to make carrying it much easier. Some do prefer to use it this way, however, although many in the company don't see the benefit.
: Fire Modes:
Fully Automatic - Fires as many bolts as it can as long as you have a finger on the trigger.
Single Fire - Fires a single, moderately more accurate shot. Good for marksmen, or those low on ammo.
Burst Fire - Fires up to 4 bolts in quick succession. Like single fire, it's more accurate, but only slightly.
STRENGTHS
- Another One - The weapon has an impressive fire rate. By using an automatic Heter-Valve, it could fire out shot after shot while the converter has more on the way. The automatic valve does seem to affect the energy drain, however.
- Another One, But Painful - The Montag has surprising damage output for being an automatic weapon. This mainly comes from the quality of gas it uses in ammo.
- Another One, But Painful To Droids - The shots of the weapon are ionized, being effective against droids and organics.
- Heft In The Hands - The Montag is quite heavy, despite being about average size for a carbine. This can cause aim issues, carrying problems, and makes it generally harder to use.
- 1 To 200 - A defect caused by the automatic valve, the weapon's ammo capacity is stunted at about 200 shots, quite small compared to the average 500 shots that most common carbines have.
DESCRIPTION
The KOR-7, nicknamed "Montag" after it's creator, is a rapid-fire blaster, with multiple fire modes. It is for all intents and purposes a military weapon, typically finding use in a wide variety of martial occupations. Produced by Ephraim Arms, used and marketed by its parent corporation, Ephraim Labors.
The production of the Montag is rocky, to say the least, primarily based on how 'cursed' its development was. When researching a way to maintain a rapid-fire, several testers were killed when using the prototype. When a functioning model finally came onto the scene, prompting more tests, the first person to pick it up was vaporized as it exploded in their hands. In truth, the numerous incidents sparked the company's leading body, the council, to put the project on indefinite hold. To be honest, there were a plethora of problems with the original design. It would overheat, it used energy sporadically, and for some particular reason, it had a strange effect on magnetic fields which yet has a traceable source.
Eventually, the project was picked up again by an upstart designer, Vosk Montag. The young designer worked tirelessly with a team of other passionate designers to bring a fully-functioning blaster carbine to the Ephraim floor. He and his team were able to fix a number of problems with the original design, even offering a better method of rapid with the automatic Heter-Valve. The most ingenious thing he did was find a bypass in energy usage by increasing the power of the gas compressor. He even was able to implement an ionizing system to make the bolts of the weapon effective against a wider range of combatants.
Funnily, the 'cursed' project would take the young designer's life. On one fateful rotation, the upstart Montag went to test final adjustments for the project model. Upon touching it, the weapon exploded, killing him instantly. His life was not in vain, though, as it gave the company a great piece of equipment.
