The man known as Ecthelion Aiglos is a man of good shape. A decent height with an apparently athletic and muscular, swimmer-like stature, support his heritage and original occupation. Stripped naked, one would not realise his augmentations and aggressive bio-chemical treatment.
Hidden in a secret chamber in his house is his armoury. A shrine for his heritage and true occupation, the white, black and golden set of polished Zakuulan Knight armour resides on a rack, with his shield at the wall behind and the pike on a horizontal rack in front. Once a week he enters the armoury to polish, clean and maintain everything.
He has taken several more items with him, several sets of Knight equipment. He coloured them in a neutral gray though and uses them for his daily training.
After the encounter with the newly proclaimed Eternal Emperor of Nelvaan, the former Exarch was offered to join this new realm and to accept duties and responsibilities as its High Justice.

Ecthelion Aiglos was born on Zakuul, twenty-eight years before the great Benevolent Emperor, Valkorion, was murdered by the Outlander. As a child of zakuulan nobles he got an excellent education to the point when his Force sensitivity was discovered. His connecetion was not considered very strong, but his patriotic parents were eager about this great fortune and send him to the Knight schools.
Aiglos was a strong willed child and recognised his specialness, he had no friends before he came to the Knight training facilities. Now he was among equals, among people who were like him and he prospered. Moving into friendly but fierce competition with many other students his training was highly efficient and the young boy was learning very fast.
His weaker connection to the Force was compensated by his unbreakable will and good aptitude in combat and educational skills. Ecthelion was no highly intelligent child, definitely not, but he understood that doing the simple things exemplarily and improving on them can achieve the same grandness one highly intelligent could reach.
His intellect allowed for deep and serious indoctrination. Everyone was focused on the goals and principles the knights serve and of course, whom they serve. The Emperor visited the schools from time to time to show himself, to hold a speech and encourage the training. A neutral spectator would easily recognise the manipulative and indoctrinating nature of these visits, but here they were simply appreciated and a reason to cheer.
When Ecthelion grew older, reaching puberty, he was a skilled combatant, investigator and a fierce and fiery follower of the Zakuulan ideology. The training continued until he reached his sixteenth year of life. He was deemed worthy of the Knight trials and send to complete them.
Consisting of four parts, one knowledge trial, which was equally a test of ones dedication and morale, one trial to rate the Force aptitude of the future Knight, one trial of combat and the last of faith, ideology and zeal.
The first trial was an equally investigative one as it was testing his knowledge of general life aspects, but heavily focused on the Zakuul itself. He was sent to the Royal Archives to find a text which was hidden and could only be found by someone who understood the idea behind finding what is unknown and lost, as well as knowing what it means to be Zakuulan.
The second trial was basically only a show of different Force abilities, the knowledge behind them and the clear-absence of division between Light and Dark Force powers. One was equally meant to explain how healing and lightning works, which emotions and concentrations it needs and so on.
The third trial was a duel with a pledged Knight, actually, with a Knight-Captain. Three phases of combat were practised with full contact and lethal weapons. Unarmed combat, lightsaber combat and pike combat with the shield. Everything in full armour and with real weapons. Even while it is the most dangerous trial and the most challenging, it was the easiest for Ecthelion to complete.
The fourth trial was putting the aspirant in a difficult situation. He was morally challenged to make a decision between personal feelings and the greater good. Hypothetical questions at first and then going deeper and growing more personal with every question until all dark deeds, sins and wrong thoughts were laid bare. Aiglos mastered this trial without ever noticing or recognising that he revealed family secrets, the ones of friends and his own worst and most intimate thoughts and memories.
The pledge and celebration of becoming a Knight of Zakuul soon followed.
The following years Ecthelion Aiglos spend his time with doing his duty in an exemplary manner. Learning most parts of the Eternal Empire by being sent here and there to track down criminals, hunt traitors or eliminate rebels, he became a proven and dedicated warrior. Applying for advanced warfare education programs, Aiglos was accepted and managed to pass them as well, qualifying him to become a Knight-Captain, sooner or later.
The case was sooner. At the age of 21 he was promoted and got his own squad of Knights to lead. Fighting in war of conquering several more systems in the Unknown Regions, he made himself a name of being an uncompromising, efficient servant of the Zakuulan ideology. For a heroic rescue operation during a campaign which he barely survived and helped several knights escape captivity, he was rewarded with the title of Paladin.
Wearing his dark armour with pride and the own ambition to improve the abilities and therefore the service, he was among those who were chosen by a newly appointed Exarch to serve as the lieutenant on a newly built Star Fortress on a planet long forgotten. After two more years, now being 25 years old, Aiglos was recommend for further promotion to Adjudicator. But this was not happening.
His absolute and undying loyalty were rewarded with taking the dark armour from him again and giving him a white one.
Ecthelion Aiglos was offered to join the Imperial Household Guard of the Benevolent Emperor.
There was no greater honour, nothing he could imagine. The service was dedicated to the Emperor and the Emperor alone, not even his family was included. He knew them from afar, his wife and children, but now he had contact with them, daily. His wife, the commandant of this unit, was honourable and respectable and a great leader.
He was one of two of the Household Guard which experienced the raids. Aiglos and another one were assigned to accompany and protect Prince Thexan. It was no surprise to Aiglos that Prince Arcann followed without being ordered.
Fighting Sith and Jedi for the first time strengthened his belief in the superiority of Zakuul. There was no power in division, no power in stagnation and these two cultures were caught in both. Seeing the Force as two parts instead of one was a heretical thought and he was happy to deliver justice to these sub-beings, not worthy of using this incredible source of power.
On Korriban he was watching when Arcann was torn apart by an explosion. It was not his duty to care about him, so he proceeded with his objective and was later present when the operation happened to augment his body and cure the wounds.
Aiglos did not understand what happened after their return. He and his companion were guarding the two Princes to the doors of the Spire, the Honour Guard was not inside, they are brother unit of the Household Guard. That was strange. The corridors were empty and no guards were around. Aiglos himself opened the doors to the Throne room to check if something was wrong, but the Benevolent Emperor was sitting on his throne.
Bowing shortly he slipped back outside and only the two princes entered.
They had to return to wait for further orders from their commander. They met her at the bottom entrance of the Spire, she was on her way up when she told them to get back to the quarters to confirm that they shall wait.
Ecthelion Aiglos waited an entire day, before he was summoned by Emperor Valkorion and promoted to Exarch and commander of the Household Guard. He did not understand what happened, but in his mind, the wheels locked and he didn´t need to understand why. The doubt lasted half a second before it was replaced by pride, joy and eagerness.
The following month was marked by being barely conscious for an entire day. The augmentations, physical treatments and bio-chemical refinements coming with the promotion had to be done. Aiglos was eagerly accepting them and was patient with the extreme process which included a lot of pain.
Twenty-eight years, four months, ten days and seven minutes after his birth; nine days, two hours and twenty minutes after the end of his augmentation process - the most Benevolent Emperor, Valkorion, was murdered by the Outlander. It was unthinkable for Ecthelion. He could not understand it. Was this possible?
The heart, the meaning, the centre of his life, of his belief was gone. Was this part of the events which included the death of Prince Thexan and the disappearance of Tirall? Nothing was certain, except for one thing. He wouldn´t serve this upstart prince as personal guard.
Becoming a leader in the following war, Aiglos disillusion with the new leader grow. He was not his father and had a very cruel approach. The campaigns were swift and devastating, but at what cost? Many brothers died, ships were destroyed for the price of a Galaxy which did not understand the greatness which swept through it, which basically controlled it now.
The new Emperor assigned all Exarch to garrison and guard duty for important Star Fortresses. It was the ordinary procedure, but the simple amount of Fortresses required was ridiculous. Only the might of the Eternal Fleet allowed this conquest to last.
Ecthelion found himself on the world of his later residence - Alderaan. The noble houses were partly silent and partly very opposing. Their civil war was going on, not really intense and actually dying off except for some very local points of unrest. Those who were Republic alligned formed a resistance, hidden of course, but not very well hidden. Organa, Alde ... they thought they are clever.
Aiglos apparently catched the bait and increased the Skytrooper patrols and waited with a unit of Knights to strike. But again and again they managed to escape. Especially House Alde proved to be very cunning in this guerillia warfare. It took several months before the intelligence could make something of it, a Jedi and Republic military officer from Balmorra was supporting them. A deadly cat-and-mouse play developed with heavy casualties on both sides, but Alderaan was kept under control. For nearly five years everything stayed as it was.
Until the murderer escaped, the one called Outlander. He was freed from his imprisonment and left Zakuul unharmed with an ancient ship. The situation turned into a two-edged sword. After the known encounter of Asylum and some actions on Zakuul, Arcann ordered the Knights to duel to death, leaving only very second alive.
His fire revived by the goal to hunt the Outlander, this also gave Ecthelion the final kick into the direction that Arcann was unworthy. He deserted his post and faked his death to hunt the Outlander alone.
The task proved one to be impossible, always surrounded by guards and companions and sometimes even fleets and armies, Aiglos ceased this vendetta and retired to Zakuul. The planet was partly ruined, but still heart of an Empire beyond the galactic core-worlds.
The next decades saw the rise and fall of the Alliance, the Sith Empire, the Republic again and again, but he did not care. The realm which was still controlled by Zakuul defragmented and lost its importance, wealth and power.
Leaving his armour behind, he was working to upheld some old goals, train people and survive in the ruins of his belief, faith and dedication. He was no mercenary, no gun-for-hire and no simple security guard, hence why he got more and more frustrated with his life. At one point, several centuries after the fall of Zakuul, he left his old home. He could not bear the sight of this once so glorious beacon of hope for justice and stability fade into dust and rust.
Aiglos travelled into the known galaxy, for him they were always the core-worlds, all of it. But now he moved to the actual core worlds and was accepting ordinary, non-combat work to live. Never staying long at one place, as otherwise it would be noted that there are certain issues with his aging.
He never asked why not even his skin was not aging. He always assumed it was because of the cybernetical-augmentations.
Working on large industrial worlds as industrial worker, on rural worlds as farmer, before he settled on Alderaan in a very distant and low populated region as a farmer himself. Nobody knew him, how should they? He was their oppressor so long ago that everyone and their grandchildren were long dead already.
The years passed and he was getting frustrated. There was nothing, no goal, no dedication anymore. Ecthelion Aiglos was considering to commit suicide because of this nonsensical life. But a thought came into his mind which let him waver. He was most likely the only survivor of the Knights of Zakuul, of the Eternal Empire and the only one who could upkeep, maintain and pass on the culture, ideology and ideas which stood behind this grand Empire.
A life without failure wouldn´t be worth living, every mortal human knows that. Aiglos knew it. But he also learned it. Abandoning his cabin on Alderaan to seek like-minded people or rather those who would be influenced by his vision, he moved to the Galaxy gathering followers. It was a lengthy process, Aiglos lacked the basic idea and talent of charismatic leadership.
It took him several years to gather a handful of willing learners, Force sensitives, who wished to be teached by this kind of master. Moving around the Galaxy for suitable, unpopulated training locations, his followers did not prove as committed as they thought they would be. He gained and lost new people, constantly, which made him frustrated once more. No Knight material. One or two showed potential, but they failed the very trials he put on them which were necessary to pass. Neither could they catch his sworn allegiance to someone who was long gone, never experiencing the inspiring and encouraging nature of the late Benevolent Emperor.
After several decades of attempting to form a followership which follows his ideals, he was giving up on the idea. Nobody was worthy, nobody understood him.
It was at the time when the new order was proclaimed, maybe a decade later, Aiglos was captured. By nobody specific, they were just slavers who had the intent to make money. Luckily he had sealed his original equipment somewhere save. But he accepted his fate for the beginning. Maybe it was simply time for him to die. It took a while till they moved him to an auction, he was among more prisoners beforehand.
People talk. He talked and other listened. Not impressed by his specific personal faith, but by himself, by his strong connection to this faith, the idea of a dedicated life. It was a like a session with a therapist, this journey to the highest bidder. Aiglos was able to talk and talk and talk, relieving himself off the weight of millenia of depression, sadness and resignation. And the slaves listened, even the guards started to catch note of something going on. They didn´t realise what they got, as they were simply happy to get a slave of good shape without resistance.
At the auction, when he was announced he looked up and stood up, easy and without the weight of defeat on his shoulders anymore. Two guards were pushing him upstairs to the stage where he was meant to be presented. The wooden planks protesting under his weight. In chains he was looking up at a mass of dirty scum. Slavers, merchants, criminals, industrials and more of the like which were seeking a servant of some sorts.
The announcer was about to start when Aiglos spoke, rising his voice that every single being in here could hear him.
"You will free all slaves here. You will leave this place and never come back. Everyone who shows resistance, will be brought to justice."
The audience, the guards and the announcer started to laugh. The guards chuckling was rather nervous though and they had their shock-staffs ready to punch him down. They wouldn´t get the chance. With a smooth and simple movement he was breaking his chains and disarmed both the guards and pushed the announcer down into the mass of people. Screams, yelling and the noise of activated blasters could be heard. But Aiglos was not on the stage anymore. It was a surreal view. To see this large man moving like water between the buyers and disarming their guards, only leaving behind broken bones, unconscious bouncers and destroyed blaster. Roughly ten seconds later, Aiglos was standing at the door, not a single shot fired and was repeating his previous statement.
Now silence followed. Apparently some changed their opinion, but others did certainly not.
The next hours were a little war fought in the slavers enclave, security personnel versus slaves. Towards the end, when the security guards were slowly getting overwehlemd, they ignored their initial order not to hamr the goods. Many slaves were massacred, but the guards were as well.
Aiglos was gone already, he had to seek his personal relics and live. The past month was a turning point in his life. He didn´t know what was coming next, but for sure, it wasn´t as bad as the last years.
Once the terraforming program revived Alderaan, Aiglos moved to his old site, rebuild his house and lived there.
Till today . . .

Ecthelion Aiglos is an expert in melee and close combat. Trained by the ancient Zakuulan school, he has learned a fighting style with lightsaber weapons which is outside the understanding of the seven or three forms installed and maintained by Jedi and Sith.
The Zakuulan´s were pursuing two forms, one for the Knights and one for the higher ranks. The knights perfected the idea of fighting in a formation as Force users, while the commander ranks had a far more duel-orientated approach, based on very close combat, involving much unarmed-combat, acrobatics and increased speed and strength.
Aiglos was also trained to use the Force in combat, he is able to block and perform own attacks, based on both Light and Dark sided powers. He has much experience in this kind of combat, as a support for his melee fighting style.
The body of Ecthelion Aiglos is far beyond what a human could reach with sports and fitness. The cybernetics, implants and augmentations make his body harder, faster, stronger and more resistant, as well as improving his senses.
The force affinity and capabilities of Aiglos are very limited. He possesses no great connection and not much power, it makes him vulnerable to opponents of the Sith or Jedi who are great force practitioners.
Ecthelion is old, he has experience in war, combat, politics, law enforcement, investigation and multiple other areas. But these expertises were teached and indoctrinated, his approaches are linear. He is not stupid, absolutely not, but he is just average in his intellect and ideologically tempered.
The body of Ecthelion Aiglos is a weapon in itself. He has more metal, technical and electorincal parts than parts of skin, flesh and bones. The technology is ancient and therefore extremely vulnerable to EMP or Ion attacks.

This character is for that start just the submission of my personal, most beloved roleplay character. The roleplaying with him will be secondary right now, as I have other projects going on which will keep the focus for now. I hope to slowly develop this one further. Without the interest of someone else, I wouldn´t even have posted this character, as I am not a fan of the 4000-years-old-club and don´t want to enter it. But as several others here, this is originally a The Old Republic character and I loved to play him.
Lets see if we can find an occupation for him here.
