Description:
The DS-12 Sonic Carbine is a lightweight weapon, highly manoeuvrable in combat, close-quarter environments. It was designed to provide a compact punch to Alliance Special Forces that could bring down armoured opponents in urban environments. Much like a shotgun, the DS-12 has a cone of fire. This is visible as a shimmering wave emitting from the muzzle.

On stun mode an unarmoured target will suffer mild pain, nausea and typically lose consciousness. Targets in fully enclosed armour, with some level of protection from this type of weapon may only feel the waves pass through without ill-effect. Some targets at exceedingly close range have been blinded and so the weapon has seen limited uptake in the civilian sector, despite this having been the original market.

On its lethal setting the weapon has a range of effects, depending on the distance to the target. Beyond its effective range this will typically cause damage to internal organs and target struck to the head is liable to lose consciousness. Within the effective range most armours only lessen the high-intensity wave. An unarmoured target will most likely die instantly. The closer the target, the less effective even heavy personal armour and the greater the chance of fatality.

The DS-12 does very little damage to anything inorganic. Some types of duracrete can crack from several shots, but most metals simple allow the wave to pass through harmlessly. Droids and complex weapons systems may suffer damage If there are delicate internal components.

The weapon uses up a full power cell in just three full power shots. Typically several cells are loaded into the carbine and a pump-action allows the wielder to discard a depleted cell.
Recoil is relatively low, but one-handed use is often not advised.

I am assuming you got the A-okay. Blas-tech is about blaster like weapons. I don't recall sonic weapons. However, I may be wrong.

Why so heavy for a Sawn-off styled weapon?
