Description: The Y8 series only has one droid, given the name Y8-S1. It was built by the Nabooian prodigy Ydrin and his Uncle, who worked in engineering, so as to provide something to watch over and assist Ydrin in his medical studies, and later, work. It was also given a near sentient personality (think C3-P0 and R2-D2).
The original Y8-S1 was only built for medical purposes. It possessed a CPU full of downloaded medical information from one of the hospitals of Theed. It chassis was weak and a punch could dent it while a EMP could easily power it down. However, despite these weaknesses, Y8 was a skilled doctor.
Upon Ydrin leaving his home at 19, he took Y8 with him and set out into the galaxy. Do prevent Y8 from being damaged, Ydrin replaced his chassis with a more durable version, downloaded information on basic skills for wielding a blaster pistol and equipped him with a blaster pistol. Despite now being able to fight and withstand blows, EMPs were still a weakness as well as hits with a high amount of kinetic force as Y8 was by no means a combat droid.
