Private Dress Drama

Valery stared at her closet in frustration, flipping through dress after dress, each one more revealing than the last. She sighed, tugging at a strap of her favorite green dress, but tonight wasn't the night for something so bold. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy looking good, but sometimes she wanted something a little more modest — something that didn't feel like she was constantly showing off.

Her brow furrowed as she hesitated between two more options, both too daring for how she felt.

"This is a nightmare," she muttered under her breath.

With date night fast approaching, her wardrobe choices weren't cooperating. Finally, throwing her hands up in defeat, she called out, "Love!" Her voice carried down the hallway, her frustration palpable.

When she heard Kahlil approaching, Valery turned to face him, pouting slightly. "We need to go shopping," she announced, arms crossed over her chest as she gestured toward the closet. "All of my dresses are too.... sexy. I need something... a bit more modest." Her lower lip jutted out in a playful but genuine plea.

"You know, something I can wear without Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania turning bright red again."

"Simply breath. One deep breath, then another. Close your eyes and just.. Breath. This is not the end. You just need to relax, then open your mouth and take a bite." Kahlil sat before Eryx, a spoon full of peas in hand. They were cooked properly, delicious as ever, but the boy was simply refusing to eat them. Kahlil let out a sigh, closing his eyes for a moment before again smiling.

Valery had this much easier than he did.

"Once you finish, we can see mama."

That seemed to be the trigger needed. Eryx leaned up to practically steal the spoon and take a bite. The result? A mess, but Kahlil smiled none the less as Eryx ate the peas without anymore fuss. All to see mama, huh? He glanced up as she heard him call for her though, blinking in surprise. Aris was the one to take over feeding Eryx for now as he chuckled and walked up.

"Call me biased but I think no matter what you'll end up wearing you'll be pretty sexy. But I also see your point. Shall we go shopping?"

Eryx's expression was priceless — his tiny face scrunched up in betrayal and determination as Kahlil left him with Aris. He had promised to take him to Mama, and now he was leaving without him and going to Mama himself? Not having any of it, Eryx doubled down on his efforts, scooping peas into his mouth with newfound resolve, even as the spoon left behind a mess of green on his little face.

Seeing the scene, Vera chuckled and leaned in close to Aris with a smirk. "Wow, look at him go. He's eating almost as fast as you and Mom when you two are hungry," Vera teased while grabbing a snack herself.

Meanwhile, Kahlil approached Valery with that familiar grin still lighting up his features. Her eyes sparkled in response, and though she teased him with a mock-serious tone, there was no mistaking the warmth in her gaze.

"Smooth," Valery remarked, arching an eyebrow at his compliment. "But yes, we are going shopping." She gestured toward the closet with a playful huff. "I love feeling confident, but I want something stylish that doesn't turn every eye in the room to my chest or butt the moment I walk in." Something she could wear around Padawans without feeling too spicy.

She crossed her arms but added with a sly smile, "You'll enjoy it too, trust me. I'm thinking we'll look at some Epicanthix styles and I'd like your opinion."

There was no resisting the mischievous spark in her eyes as she prepared for their spontaneous shopping trip.

M977SXg.png

"Hmm.. On one hand, I agree. On the other, I do like looking myself." Kahlil rubbed at his chin, seeming to really think it over. Naturally, he wasn't. He was just teasing her, and the faint grin that slowly spread as he pretended to mull it over. Ultimately what mattered was his wife wanted a new set of dresses to wear, and there was little in this galaxy that would stop him from spoiling her with them.

"When would you like to be off, my love?"

Valery rolled her eyes playfully at Kahlil’s teasing, her lips curving into a smirk. “Well, you're allowed to look,” she replied with a sly grin, and to drive the point home, she rotated her hip ever so slightly, striking a pose that was equal parts alluring and playful as she arched her back and gave him that view he liked.

She loved teasing him just as much as he did her.

When he asked when she'd like to leave, she wasted no time. “Right now,” she said, grabbing his hand with enthusiasm and pulling him toward the door.

As they descended the stairs together, though, Valery’s eyes caught the sight of little Eryx squinting up at them from the bottom, peas smeared across his face in a look of stern determination.

Valery chuckled softly, glancing at Kahlil, “I think we have a prob
lem.”

M977SXg.png

"I should hope I am."

Kahlil snickered just a little before he was pulled along by Valery. Nope, no surprise there at all that she'd pull him along the moment he mentioned shopping. It was one of her guilty pleasures, and one he was happy to encourage. He just chuckled as they made their way down the stairs, or would've, if not for the pea stained Eryx glaring up at them.

He just chuckled.

"Perhaps we'll have to bring him along."

Valery smirked, the playful glint in her eyes never fading. "Well, if you tease me too much, you're definitely not allowed to look," she teased, her tone light but carrying the mock seriousness that always colored their banter.

As soon as she approached, Eryx's stern expression melted into a bright, eager smile, his little arms shooting up toward her. Valery bent down, scooping him up into a warm embrace. "There we go," she murmured, gently wiping the peas from his cheeks with the corner of her sleeve.

Eryx giggled happily, nestling into her as he clung tight.

Valery glanced back at Kahlil with a soft smile, clearly loving the moment. "Looks like we've got ourselves a shopping buddy," she said, bouncing Eryx gently in her arms as his giggles turned into little squeals of excitement.

"Alright, you ready to help Dada pick Mama some new dresses?" she asked the boy, who nodded with all the seriousness his tiny face could muster. "Then let's get going!" Valery added, laughing softly as they began making their way toward the door, the family moment glowing with warmth and affection.

"Are we going town? Or the big city?" she asked her husband.

M977SXg.png

"They're much of the same this point. They've even started building even farther out." Even around their home, which was some distance from the main city of Niv Hani, more buildings had started to crop up. Not too close, considering Kahlil's desire for privacy, but he wasn't about to deny the lake's beauty from his people. The town that had been close to the main city had grown and grown. Civilization here was thriving.

"Let's go to the main district. It'll be good for Eryx to see some of the new sculptures that have been crafted."

Valery walked alongside Kahlil through the bustling district, the scenery before them a perfect blend of artistry and modern architecture. The towering structures around them were polished and gleaming, reflecting the sunlight across the city.

Eryx squealed and flailed in Valery's arms, delighted by the bright surroundings and the warmth of his mother's embrace. His small fingers reached up towards the statues his father was showing him, trying to catch them as they passed. Valery chuckled softly, adjusting him in her arms as they continued through the wide streets lined with sculptures and artistic installations, each more intricate than the last.

The Epicanthix around them, tall and powerful, greeted them with respectful nods, their gazes warm and familiar. Valery, the smallest by far among the towering figures, couldn't help but feel a little out of place, but there was always something comforting about Kahlil's people. They embraced her as one of their own, despite the stark difference in size and culture.

"That reminds me. Maybe I should look into some heels as well," she teased quietly to Kahlil, glancing up at the towering Epicanthix that passed by.

"You know, just to keep up." And because she loved how sexy it made her legs look.

M977SXg.png

Not every Epicanthix was a giant, thankfully. While Valery and Kahlil were among the shorter side of his people, there were others close to their height. Even Valery's. Kahlil was all smiles though, looking through the different pieces of art that had been displayed. Very few things were saved outside of what Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex had taken to the Malsheem, and those were the prize of Niv Hani.

But as ever, they were a hardy people. And they had rebuilt.

"I didn't expect you to want to be taller. I think you're pretty cute at the height you are." He flashed a teasing grin. Which won him quite the glare from Eryx, whom he just snickered at.

"Well find you some heels, I'm sure."

Valery smirked, her gaze shifting up to Kahlil as his teasing comment hung in the air. "I'm fine with my height, thank you very much," she replied with a playful roll of her eyes. "But I do feel a little out of place sometimes, surrounded by all these giants." Despite her words, there was no real hint of discomfort, only the light-heartedness that often filled their banter.

Her expression softened slightly, and with a subtle, knowing grin, she added, "But I'm glad you think I'm cute. Besides, I like the height difference between us." Her tone dropped just enough to carry a hint of mischief, clearly implying something without needing to say it outright.

When Eryx squinted at Kahlil's snickering, Valery chuckled softly and adjusted him in her arms. "He's unusually clever and protective for his age, isn’t he?" she remarked, holding their son out slightly while she looked at him. Eryx, still squinting, seemed determined to keep an eye on his dad, as if he knew the two of them were up to something.

Valery laughed again, her eyes glowing with warmth and affection. "We're in trouble when he starts talking, aren’t
we?"

M977SXg.png

"Mm so do I."

Kahlil flashed his own grin, but it quickly turned to a full on laugh as he glanced to Eryx. He reached down, ruffling the boys hair a little, much to their protest, but Kahlil continued to smile regardless. He was as bright as can be. "We probably are, but I look forward to that day regardless." Let him, was Kahlil's line of thought. That's the type of family they were.

"Let's get to one of the stores, yeah?"

Valery swayed little Eryx in her arms, his squint turning into a bright smile as she leaned in to plant a gentle kiss on his cheek. “You don’t want Daddy to ruffle your hair, huh?” she teased, her voice filled with warmth and affection. Eryx squealed with delight, his little arms flailing as he laughed, clearly enjoying the playful attention.

As they entered the clothing store, Valery’s eyes widened slightly at the size of it. High ceilings, spacious aisles, and racks of clothing stretched out in every direction. It was bustling with people, most of them impressively tall Epicanthix, making Valery feel even smaller by comparison.

Without hesitation, she grabbed Kahlil’s hand and tugged him towards the women’s section, her eyes twinkling with amusement. “Think they’ll even have anything in my size?” she joked, glancing up at her much taller husband and then around the towering racks. The playful banter continued as they moved deeper into the store, surrounded by a vibrant selection of styles, each piece seeming just a bit grander and tailored for people taller than her.

"At least I'm not small in all dimensions~"

She paused and chuckled, "So, what kind of styles do they have..." She muttered to herself, though with an eye on her husband as well. He knew much better how men and women dressed.

M977SXg.png

Another chuckle. Kahlil expected Eryx to agree, but to see the joy just for having Valery vocalize it for him. So that's how it truly was, a mama's boy through and through. Every confirmation just brought quite a smile to Kahlil's face. The chuckle changed to a snort though as Valery spoke up about sizes. This time he reached down to ruffle her hair, smirking wide.

"We're not all giants. They'll have something in your size."

As for styles? He glanced around in thought before reaching out to take a couple dresses. He knew what he was doing here, happily finding different outfits that he thought might work for the beautiful but not alluring dresses Valery was going for.

"Let's ty these first."

Valery browsed through the dresses Kahlil had picked, adding a few of her own finds to the mix. As she moved into the dressing room, she couldn't help but chuckle, running her fingers over the luxurious fabrics and eyeing some of the styles he'd selected. From behind the door, as she looked through what she grabbed herself, her voice came through, playful and teasing, "Oh my. Love?" she began, "Some dresses don't uh, cover the chest at all."

Not what she was looking for.

A few moments later, she emerged wearing the first dress. It flowed gracefully down her figure, adorned with delicate gold accents and a soft blue sash, giving her a look of regal elegance. She stepped forward and struck a playful, queenly pose, tilting her chin slightly with a smile as she looked up at him. "Well, what do you think? Too much?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with humor. "This makes me feel like the Queen of this planet," she added with a soft laugh, twirling a bit to show off the intricate details of the dress.

Her confidence and playful spirit filled the room as she stood there, embodying both elegance and the lighthearted joy she shared with Kahlil. Eryx, happy as always to see Mom, squealed and flailed his arms around.

"At least he seems to like it," Valery said warmly, "But maybe something more casual, too?"

M977SXg.png

"You are my queen."

Kahlil just smiled warmly as he looked Valery over as she stepped out. For him, Valery could be in a sack and she would be the most beautiful woman in the galaxy and beyond, but seeing her in his people's garb would always have his smile grow that much more. He loved seeing her dressed like this, and he didn't hide it. Eryx seemed to be the only bigger fan, but that was because Kahlil's approval wasn't vocalized.

But she'd certainly feel it.

"Why only stop at two? We can get any and everything you want today, love."

Valery felt a rush of warmth as Kahlil's words wrapped around her, his love and admiration clear in his smile. She beamed, feeling every bit the queen he saw her as, and seeing little Eryx's cheerful approval only made her happier. With an affectionate laugh, she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around her husband, pulling him into a hug.

"You always know how to make me feel special," she murmured happily, "I'm going to try a few more things and then we pick matching heels."

However, just as she pulled back slightly, an Epicanthix man walked by, his gaze lingering just a bit too long on her figure. Unaware of the attention, Valery caught the glint in Eryx's eyes as he puffed his cheeks and squinted at the stranger, his tiny hand reaching out to tug on his father's sleeve. His message was clear, his expression full of protectiveness as he warned his father. Eryx wanted to keep Mom to himself, sure, but he still did love his Dad, and he knew he could call on him for backup.

Valery raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "What's up with him?" She asked, her gaze sweeping over her shoulder. But the man was just out of sight, as he moved on through the store.

M977SXg.png

Kahlil's gaze glanced to Eryx at the tugging, then up. Epicathix prized beauty in all things. Their arts, their warfare, their people. Valery was certainly a woman who would pull eyes no matter what she wore, and Kahlil wasn't the kind of man to treat it as if no one was allowed to look at his wife. But a lingering, intruding gaze? He kept a calm smile, but the sharpness in his eyes was enough to make the man immediately rethink what he was doing.

"Just keeping an eye out, it seems. What other styles are you thinking of?"

He turned his gaze back to Valery, smiling warm as ever. There wasn't a reason to go into it, not when this was supposed to be a fun evening out.

Valery smiled warmly at Kahlil and then at Eryx, who looked up at her with that proud little squint of his. Unaware of the watchful gaze that had lingered on her moments before, she simply took Kahlil's comment in stride, giving him a nod before turning back toward the changing room.

"Alright, just a few more," she said with a chuckle, winking at Eryx as she disappeared inside to try another dress.

While Valery changed, Eryx looked up at his father, a coo escaping his lips as he smiled, his tiny face lighting up. He was learning, little by little, that his dad was always there to look out for Mom, and after seeing Kahlil's subtle glare at the stranger, Eryx seemed almost… proud. His jealousy softened, replaced by a warm happiness that Dad had been there, too.

Soon, Valery stepped out of the changing room, a playful smile on her lips as she looked at Kahlil and Eryx, who both turned their attention to her instantly. She wore a sleek, modern outfit — fitted and stylish, with a deep gray-blue top that wrapped around her figure elegantly and secured with a bold belt. The soft flow of the pants gave her a casually graceful look, striking a balance between elegance and comfort.

She even had earrings that perfectly matched her wedding band.

"This isn't the dress yet, I know," she said, spinning once to let the fabric flow with her movements, "But I saw it and thought, why not?" Her amber eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief as she paused, hand resting confidently on her hip. "What do you think?" she asked, her gaze flickering from Kahlil to Eryx, curious to see their reactions.

M977SXg.png

Kahlil glanced to Eryx before giving the boy a nod. He was a lot more aware than either he or Valery thought. The understanding there brought quite the smile to Kahlil's face though. When Valery came back out? They were both there, smiling warm as they happily nodded their heads in approval of the choice. And Eryx held up a different dress entirely for Valery to see.

Keshian, not Epicanthix.

"I think it's beautiful. Sophisticated. We also have some choices though, don't we Eryx?"
