Unreviewed Dren-Less

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Drenn-Skuri
  • Origins: Al-Khālī: The Academy of the Dead
  • Other Locations: Various worlds it is seeded to for biological weapon attacks
  • Classification: Botanical
  • Average Growth Cycle: The Drenn-Skuri lifecycle begins with microscopic spores, released from pods carried by augmented Drengir or dispersed as pheromone-laden mists. These spores infiltrate organic hosts through inhalation or contact, merging Drengir's botanical sentience with the Rhak-skuri's insectoid traits and Shrikarai's Force-devouring abilities. Within 2-3 months, the spores root within the host or environment, forming a hybrid entity with tendrils and insect-like features. Full maturity is reached in 4-6 months, with the Drenn-Skuri expanding over years into sprawling, networked colonies. Reproduction occurs via spore dispersal or egg-like structures that hatch into juvenile forms. The hybrid persists indefinitely with sufficient prey, dying only through destruction or starvation.
Viability: Drenn-Skuri thrive in oxygen-rich environments with abundant organic life, particularly on temperate or volcanic planets like Upekzar, where they can exploit both meat and Force-sensitive prey. They require minimal sunlight, drawing energy from consumed biomass and Force energy. Moist, nutrient-rich soil or organic hosts are ideal for rooting. Harvested fragments remain infectious for up to 48 hours.
Description: Drenn-Skuri appear as grotesque hybrids, blending Drengir's green-black tendrils with Rhak-skuri's insectoid, clawed forms and Shrikarai's pale, desiccated features. They sport writhing vines, sharp claws, and tentacle-fringed maws with glowing red eyes, exuding a dark side aura that induces dread and hallucinations in nearby sentients, especially Force users.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Average Height: 2-5m (dependent on growth stage and host)
    Average Length: N/A
Color: Dark green to black botanical tendrils, pale white insectoid exoskeleton, and glowing red eyes; fronds and tentacles may show purple or black accents.
Nutritional Value: None; consumption is lethal due to toxicity and Force-draining effects.
Toxicity: Highly toxic via inhalation or contact with pheromone-laden spores, which infect most organic species, particularly mammals and Force-sensitives. Exposure causes rapid transformation or death, with Force users especially vulnerable to husking. Large quantities accelerate infection.
Other Effects: Spores induce terrifying hallucinations and psychic corruption, severing Force users' connection to the Force and amplifying fear. Prolonged exposure can petrify victims into desiccated husks. No medicinal qualities; effects include madness, pain, and loss of vitality.
Distinctions: Drenn-Skuri are defined by their tripartite nature, combining Drengir's root-mind, Rhak-skuri's pheromone-based terror, and Shrikarai's Force-devouring capabilities. Their ability to induce hallucinations and drain Force energy makes them uniquely lethal to Jedi and Sith. In volcanic environments, they develop denser exoskeletons, while in lush regions, their tendrils proliferate.
Strengths:
  • Force Eater: Drenn-Skuri inherit the Shrikarai's ability to feed on the Living Force, causing hallucinations, madness, and Force disconnection in Force-sensitives. Combined with Rhak-skuri's pheromone-induced terror, they can open victims' minds to the Drengir root-mind, enslaving them or driving them to betray allies.
  • Collective Resilience: Their hybrid root-mind links all Drenn-Skuri, enabling rapid coordination and adaptation. They can regenerate quickly in oxygen-rich environments and use assimilated host knowledge to enhance their predatory tactics.
Weaknesses:
  • Force Nullification: Force-nullifying fields (e.g., ysalamiri) sever their root-mind connection and halt their Force-draining abilities, causing physical and mental disarray, rendering them sluggish or immobile.
  • Force Light Vulnerability: Light side Force abilities, such as Force Light, inflict severe damage, destabilizing their dark side-infused structure and accelerating decay of their botanical and insectoid components.
  • Atmospheric Dependency: Like Drengir, Drenn-Skuri require oxygen to regenerate, and exposure to a vacuum prevents healing, leading to death if prolonged.
  • Progenitor Dependency: Tied to a Great Progenitor, Drenn-Skuri suffer disorientation, hibernation, or death if the Progenitor is neutralized or destroyed, depending on the severity of the Progenitor's fate.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Drenn-Skuri were engineered in the biological weapons division of Al-Khālī's Academy of the Dead by Sith alchemist Seras, who sought to create a bioweapon merging the Drengir's collective sentience with the Rhak-skuri's terror-inducing pheromones and the Shrikarai's Force-devouring prowess. Using Sith alchemy and advanced bioengineering, Seras fused Drengir spores with genetic material from Rhak-skuri found on Upekzar and Shrikarai specimens from Sophros. The resulting hybrid was designed to target Force-sensitive populations, incapacitating them with hallucinations and Force-draining attacks while spreading terror among non-Force users. Initial tests on remote worlds demonstrated their devastating potential, with entire colonies succumbing to madness and husking within weeks. The Drenn-Skuri's ability to infiltrate and dominate both planetary and Force-sensitive populations made them a cornerstone of Sith biological warfare. Seras continues to refine the Drenn-Skuri, aiming to enhance their resistance to Force-based defenses and expand their infectious range, positioning them as a catastrophic threat to the Jedi and beyond.
