GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name:
Dra'Amorgijra(singular) - Name is taken from various cultures and even influenced for its appearance. A full translation would be "Armored Dragon" or "Armored Monster"
  • Dra'Amorgijri(Plural) - Changing the last vowel makes the translation become "Armored Dragons" or "Armored Monsters"
  • Gjira(Shortened) - The Shortened term that they are most often known by, translated as "Mosnter" or "Dragon"
  • Kagjira - Adding the Prefix of "Ka" signifies that it is a child. Direct translation would be "Child Dragon" or "Child Monster"

[*]Designation: Semi-sentience
[*]Origins: Kro-Var
[*]Average Lifespan: 50-200 years. Depends greatly upon the environment in which they are living, how nourished they are, if they happen to be tamed by sentient beings, or even used in fighting matches in illegal activities.
[*]Estimated Population: Rare - While they were once a more prominent species upon the surface of Kro Var, the colonization of various Galactic factions, the use of these creatures in Illegal fighting rings, as well as the destruction of their ecosystem have caused the number to decline significantly.
[*]Description: A bipedal lizardon with a hide notorious for being incredibly durable and resilient to the elements. More over, the hide of this creature has in very rare circumstances to be able to withstand conventional weaponry of the Galaxy. Once the natives of Kro Var discovered this, Many of these creatures were hunted down specifically to be used in armor, or even beheaded as trophies. While more recently it has been illegal to hunt these creatures in an attempt to preserve them, hunters have instead resorted to capturing them alive, and either using them in Cage matches, or removing various spikes from their back, Claws, or even teeth as a proof they had caught one.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average Height of Adults: 3 meters
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Earthy greens, browns, tans, and on rare occasions Grey. However, notable, a small patch of hide around the lower stomach can sometimes be colored in blues, reds, and the extremely rare purple hues.
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: Gjira are monstrous compared to the height and stature to most humans. More over, their stature and frame are large and heavy. Many that are seen can be in laments terms, bulky. This is mostly due to the creature's armored hide. Distinctly known for this armor, and even more so, was once hunted for the hides durability. Typically in earthly tones of hue, with a distinct belly section that can be colored along the spectrum from Reds to blues and anywhere in between. However, with the illegal hunting activities, many have resorted instead to simply lopping off a horn/spike from the creatures back, or even yanking a tooth from the creatures head. Namely its canine tooth as they typically are the largest. Being around the size of a small dagger or knife. Another trait of these creatures is their ability to survive in a variety of environments. Most notable being desert like, however, some have been seen around the volcanic flows of the Ungoth Valley. Lastly, on the chest, as well as the bipedal legs, are holes. Not a straight opening but rather a filtered opening in which the creature can breathe from. Specifically used in situation where breathing through the small nostrils upon its face would be dangerous or even difficult. Namely when the creature is running, charging, or when literally walking through a sandstorm. The secondary known usage for these enlarged openings, is used for inhalation of a large amount of air just before letting loose a roar. Specifically a roar that can be heard up to a distance of 20 kilometers. Standing next to this creature while it is roaring, would be experiencing a rocket thruster going off right beside you (180 dB-190 dB).

Strengths:
  • Sonic Boom: To be honest, standing next to this creature while it roars is actually louder than a sonic boom. Your average thunderclap is 120 dB, while the roar of this creature has been calculated to be anywhere from 180-190 dB. At these levels for an extended period of time, can cause your eyeballs to shake, prohibit you from swallowing, make it laborious for you to breathe, and even cause your eardrums to, at the best, lose hearing for a short time, and at worst, lose all hearing as your eardrums have blown apart inside your head. Should the extent of this roar be held long enough, it is considered lethal. Needles to day, the roar from this creature is not something to be contested in a yelling match.
  • Man Monster of Steel: The hide of the Gjira is well known to be extremely durable. In some cases the hide was resilient enough to withstand conventional weaponry from the galaxy. Namely, Sonic based damage. Would be rather anti-climatic if the creature couldn't withstand it's own roar. However, due to the thick almost, plated armor of the creature, it can withstand quite the punishment.
  • Bite Force: One of the notable "treats" for tamed Gjira are rocks, or even pieces of metal. While it is assumed that the rocks and metal do little to nothing for its actual diet, there is a complex correlation between the creatures durable hide, and the various textiles it decides to consume. However, in order for the creature to reasonably consume such items, it needs to be able to break the rocks and metal down to a manageable level. Surprisingly, the teeth are formed much akin to a humans mouth, and that of a shark. The forward row of teeth are pointed and sharp. Specifically used for cutting meat, or even cutting metal due to the pressure exerted by its jaw. With the secondary and third rows of teeth being more akin to molar teeth. Used for grinding rocks or even flattening metal shards to be easier to swallow. It's bite has been compared closely to other creatures that perform the same actions of eating rocks, or otherwise "inorganic" material. However, Gjira have been seen eating meats, and on the very rare occasion berries, or plant life.
Weaknesses:
  • Endangered: Due to the findings of many fossilized bones from these creatures, as well as the number of these creatures, the assumed number hundreds of years before any form of colonization, could have well been in the couple hundreds of thousands. However, since the formation of the Kro Var, as well as the more recent additions of various factions, and the ever growing Kro Varian people in general, it has drastically reduced this number to barely a couple hundred documented. As such, these creatures are protected by the laws of the planet. Should any trophy be found in someone's possession, various consequences can be placed depending on the severity of the transgression. However, this means that the creature is even more highly sought after for such items. Secondary to this development, most of these creatures that have been documented are kept in captivity under a "Tamed" status where these creatures are left in enclosures to continue their lives as normally as possible.
  • Not a Pet: Due to the creatures biting force, as well as its rather dangerous roar, they are rarely kept as tamed pets. As a lame excuse by some, is that the creature when angered would roar. So anything from a simple toe being stubbed, or just a roar because it's hungry can kill a person. Secondary to this, you are not going to be rough and tumble with this creature. The smallest nibble can be enough to remove a limb, fingers, or even carve wounds deep enough to be lethal. However, there are still some who want to keep it as a buddy.
  • Swipe Left: You thought these creatures were already endangered merely because of their hunting practices. No. In fact, the female Gjira are actually quite temperamental creatures. Mating practices can be seen and have been documented. And even in some cases when one is held within an encloser and artificially inseminated, the female in many cases can just "will" herself to not become pregnant. With the Females already being frustratingly known as a "picky species" for its mating practices, the females can outright deny and prevent their own pregnancy. Typically this is done by the female dramatically decreasing its intake of sustenance, as well as heating up its body by way of not cooling itself down, or by using other heat sources to make its body very difficult to procreate. And you thought getting a date was hard.
  • Heft: Due to the creatures eating habits, and its immense size this creature is not the one to be hiding. One of the more "kings" of the planet of Kro Var, there is little to do when other creatures attempt to fight a Gjira. More over, most creatures tend to run away knowing that it has lost the fight. With footsteps that could leave footprints large enough for other smaller critters to drink out of, and its weight alone? Sneaking around, stealth and even fast speeds are out of the question. While yes the creature can run faster than the average human, there are other creatures that clearly faster, and can run for much longer distances. Any running that this creature would do, is only to close the distance on prey. Even then, most of it's prey are faster than it. Relying on finding weak, or older creatures to catch. Typically this monster can weigh in to be anywhere from 2-3 metric tons. Moving that much mass quickly, takes a lot of energy. Running is not a strong suit.
  • Water Boy: A creature that eats rocks and metal, weights anywhere from 2-3 metric tons, and isn't the fastest. Swimming is not good for this creature. Its species over all doesn't even know how to swim let alone could reasonably evolve to learn how to perform such a feat. As a secondary weakness to this, is the filtered holes upon the legs and chest of the creature are fairly open. While flaps can be closed to prevent items, sand, dirt, or other items from entering the pathway and becoming obstructions, With a high enough pressure, these flaps can fail, and thus drown the creature.
  • Breathe in Deeply: Huge openings in the legs and chest. Direct lines that lead into the massive lungs of the creature. The chance for these to be filled, or plugged is rather high. While most of the time its not a problem due to ventricle flaps that can close and prevent obstructions, when open, it would be very difficult to breathe.

CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivore. While the unique diet of the Gjira consists mostly of meats, rocks, and steels, it can in a pinch eat plant life such as berries, fruit, veggies, or even just eat straight trees with little to no problem. A major reason why it chooses to eat meat more often, as much as it can, is due to its high protein, and nutritional value for a creature of its size. Where as eating anywhere from 3-6 metric tons of meat over the course of a couple days, it would take triple that amount of fauna to provide the same amount of nutrients. A strange attribute of these creatures, is the ability to consume rocks, and metal. While studies have shown that the digestive system can handle such durable materials to be digested. The rocks and metal themselves show little to no nutritional value to them. Yet, it has been also documented that a Gjira who consumes a larger amount of rocks and steel, will have a more durable hide. It is unknown the full extent of this phenomena, but in theory, if one were to feed these creatures constant amounts of metals, that it's hide could be even more durable than expected. As for how much of this absorption of the durability from rocks and metal is accepted, is unknown.
  • Communication: Typically adult Gjira communicated in the common, growls, roars, bellows, and even a low pitched rumble. While the rumble is uniquely used during mating, or a sign of affection or even kinship between animals, it is performed by the vibrating of its voicebox, as well as the ventricle flaps that covers its nostrils. This rumble can in some cases be at a low enough frequency, that standing next to the creature while this is performed can cause a vibration within the persons chest. As a child, or a "Kagjra", the communication is much more softer and relaxed. A series of purrs, barks, yips, and screeching is used. Mostly due to the adolescence of its own voice box, smaller body, and not being mature enough to belt out a roar.
Mating for the Gjira, is quite the performance. Typically they will walk on their bipedal legs. However, during mating, the male will "Stalk" the female upon all fours, Raising it's mace like tail into the air and swinging it from side to side. Should the female give attention to the male, the male will begin to slam its mace tail into the ground. While at first these slams will be more akin to thumping, they will progressively increase the force in which they slam their tail into the ground. Attempting to break the ground where it is being struck at. When the male feels that it has done a well enough job, the male will coerce the female to inspect its mark. Should the female approve, the two will mate, and then part ways. From then on, the female, should she choose to carry the kagjira to term, will be incubating the child within the womb for a period of 16 months. Eating almost triple her weight in food, rocks, and steel. Once the child has been delivered, It will be nurtured for a period of 20-30 months Where upon it is taught to find food, and survive in general. Typically around this time, the body of the young Gjira will start the process of maturing. Hitting a growth spurt in which it will gain close to a metric ton in weight gain over the course of two to three months. Once this growth has began to wane, the mother will leave the young Gjira to now fend for itself.
  • Technology level: While there is no usage of technology itself, one could say that they are intelligent enough to guard themselves. As a youngling, Gjira eats all it can. While it is unsure if eating rocks, metals, and even technology left behind by natives, is beneficial to them, it has been documented that eating an excess of materials such as these will most commonly result in the hide of the creature becoming more durable. Even after various autopsies, as well as studies done of the creature, there is no direct correlation between eating rocks and metals and its hide. While the stomach acid of this creature is strong enough to digest various metals, there is no concrete evidence that the two should be in tandem with one another. Yet, it does show that when they are given more rocks and metal to feast upon, their hides are much more stronger.
  • Religion/Beliefs: The Creatures do not have a religion of belief system. However, it is used by many natives. Coming into contact with these creatures typically results in their roaring at you to stay away, or them attacking humans suspecting them to be a food source. As such, seeing one of these creatures, and be met with neither of these responses is considered a "Good luck Omen" of sorts. Even rarer, and typically only achieved in the wildlife preservations that these creatures can be watched and monitored, is the act of feeding these creatures by hand. This occurrence has been stated by a direct care taken by a person over that of a singular creature, as well as time require to allow the creature to become accustomed to the person. The fastest this has been shown was over a period of three years one individual was able to feed a Gjira by hand. Working directly with that one.
  • General behavior: Solitary and typically only seen with others of it's species during mating seasons. Many have shown aptitude for voices. While not directly understanding the words themselves, they understand pitches, accents of the sound when a person might be angry, or in a joyful mood. In the same case with the man who documented being able to hand feed his Gjira, when he spoke softly the creature would be more inclined to be within close proximity to the man. While loud, sudden noises, yelling, or actions could frighten, or cause the Gjira to become defensive. Much akin to humans understanding that when a dog growls, its not happy. However, other more wild Gjira have been shown to be territorial over a specific area. While they are mostly find with others of their species coming close to them in passing, there have been times where two males would fight over mates, or territory. Typically marking their area with tail bashes upon foliage, having tress be smacked down, or the ground be broken due to the slamming of the mace like appendage upon the ground.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Studying the fossils of these creatures, date them back to be anywhere from 3,000 to 8,000 years older than the formation of the Kro Var people. (~1000 bby). While during the time in which Kro Var colonized the planet, there were still quite a number of them roaming the planet. However, due to the teraforming of the planet, the actions of technology and the beings who use them, as well as the various dominions from Major Galactic factions, have dwindled their numbers down dramatically.

During the time where the Shapers were beginning to form their various clans, the Dra'Amorgjira, or "Armored Dragons" were sought after for their hide. Specifically using them for armor, or their bones for weaponry. They were considered sacred as beasts that could easily kill a tribe or clan outright, but also revered and even feared. Being told that one was "Stronger than the Gjira" would mean one was resilient or when used in the context of a jab at someones "thick headed" tendencies for being headstrong. As their numbers declined, they were also collected as trophies. Specifically the heads, or the backs of the creature which had the spikes and horns still attached. Hung upon walls or worn as a garment for ritualistic dances done by Shamans or Cabal.

However, the numbers of their surviving members deceased even more. So much so, that the natives decided to preserve their species as much as they could. Making swaths of land in which no hunting was allowed at all, and others were the hunting of these sacred creatures was illegal. However, many still hunted them for other purposes. Hunted for their horned bodies, and teeth. Where they would be captured, and then have their horns, and teeth removed to be kept as trophies. Forcing the creature to succumb to starvation due to a lack of being unable to eat properly.

Recently with their numbers now holding at a more stable rate, Many have been captured and moved to be held in captivity zones, or an enclosed wildlife preservation in which they can continue to live their lives where they will be protected. A small number of them have been tamed to a degree in which people can openly walk up and interact with these creatures, however, it is done with extensive protections of the person being required to wear sound dampeners should the creature roar. Even then, the act of doing so is strictly guarded and a protected activity.

[member="Ignis Imura"] I'll admit it. Freely. I saw Larvitar/Tyranitar and got a wee bit nervous...But after I settled in and read everything all the way through? Dang. You did a great job making these beasts their own thing, with ample information, and plenty of juicy tidbits. I like that you used their roar as a primary strength as sonic applications can occasionally be overlooked.

I will be taking a trip to Kro-Var soon. Soon™.

Approved.
