SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Unstoppable: The Clamor is exceptionally rugged and reliable, resisting nearly any type of fouling or failure-to-feed imaginable. Malfunctions are all but unheard-of.
  • Versatile: The Clamor's large-caliber, armor-piercing energized slugs render it highly effective against armored infantry and vehicles alike. Likewise, the addition of an integrated, miniaturized rocket launcher can threaten all but the heaviest of targets.
WEAKNESSES
  • Backbreaker: The Clamor possesses significant weight and recoil, though the former somewhat mitigates the latter. Nonetheless, it typically requires a firm stance, a strong arm, or both to use without the aid of a vehicle or emplacement.

DESCRIPTION

A surprisingly low-tech offering from the Privateers (at least compared to their usual physics-bending fare), the Clamor is nonetheless widespread amongst the Dzara in a variety of roles.

Effectively filling a "heavy support" function, the Clamor is a large-caliber automatic slugthrower. While (barely) light enough to be carried and used by a single soldier, the Clamor's relatively-compact size belies its significant firepower.

The weapon fires a 13mm Kensium-Helsteel slug through simple chemical-explosive propulsion, like most slugthrowers. These are fed via disintegrating belt links from a 75-round box magazine (when carried by infantry) or from much larger, 200, 500, and 2000-round ammunition feeds (when mounted on vehicles).

The bullets used are traditionally tipped with a small Otherplasma API (armor-piercing incendiary) charge, coating them in glowing night-black energies and greatly increasing armor-penetrative potential. Coupled with the significant size and velocity of the slugs in question, they can threaten infantry of all stripes, as well as light and potentially even medium vehicles.

This versatility is perhaps the weapon's greatest selling point, as it can be used to attack and damage nearly anything short of a proper heavy tank or walker. Coupled with low cost of production and excellent ruggedness of operation, it has rapidly become the Dzara's go-to support weapon.

The Clamor is found mounted on vehicles or stationary emplacements, but may also be carried into battle as a man-portable support weapon. While slugthrowers in this weight class are typically too hefty to be considered for this latter role, the Clamor is just within the range of size and weight that a particularly-brawny soldier can lug and fire it from the shoulder. However, this typically restricts the weapon to the 75-round boxes, as anything greater becomes restrictively heavy. Still, larger droids or organics (typically alien species with greater-than human brawn) might carry a massive store of ammunition comparable to that found on vehicles.

Most unusually, the Clamor is usually found with an integrated miniature rocket launcher. This lends the weapon a secondary option for deploying various types of light ordnance over longer distances, though mass and weight limitations ensure that this auxiliary attachment only carries limited ammunition (usually 6 rounds, plus whatever the user is willing to carry). These rockets feed into a small multiple-launch battery, and may be fired separately or all at once.

Most commonly, these rockets are small but powerful Otherplasma-based tracking warheads, assisted by the weapon's onboard Aftershock calculation software. An impact subjects a small area to incredible temperatures and high radioactive contamination, giving the Clamor some utility against structures, aircraft, heavy vehicles, and entrenched infantry.
