As far as we know, Schmitler tries to avoid combat as much as possible. He prefers negotiation and stealth to a firefight, though he is known to be handy with a blaster pistol. In melee combat, he is not as effective, preferring to stay as far away from his target as possible.

Biographical Information
Finding any information on this guy is tough; he's practically a damn ghost. The earliest thing we could find was a file in the Galactic Republic Intelligence of a man matching his description. He was damn good at his job, sniffed out a lot of Sith traitors and got a lot of secrets. However, he also did a lot of messed-up stuff for the Republic. This guy's hands are filthy. He didn't receive a single medal for his service, then dissapeared one day. We believe he went under a complete identity change, perhaps because of something he did?
After that, we found some contracts and bank payments under the name of "Gadolf Schmitler", for his PI service. That's what he does today, solving mysteries and getting secrets for anyone with enough credits.
