Doomsday Clock (Siobhan/Galina)

Tegaea Alcori

Kaida’s rather tart comments were water off a duck’s back to Tegaea. Besides, she got it; she’d be annoyed if everyone knew a big secret and wasn’t telling her.
“You’ll find out in about…four minutes,” Tegaea said, looking at her chrono.

“Thank you, Judah. I appreciate your assistance here. Chesna, go and have a chat with them and learn what you can, we’ll be in here.”

A nice sitting room with some plush furniture. Perfect setting for apocalyptic visions.
Once they were settled Tegaea looked to Kaida.
“You’re not a woman who minces words, so I won’t soften this. Kaeshana is in the path of a giant body, asteroid or meteor, whatever it is. Efforts to deflect or destroy it have been ineffective. It will impact in just under one standard year. Kaeshana will experience an extinction level event when this occurs. Firemane is helping the Queen evacuate as many people as we can. I came here to get Mr Dashiell’s assistance.”

“My wife is handling the Kaeshana side, moving important objects first to the Skyport, and then to an eventual destination. That is why the lost Eldorai are important. If there is a colony or other world, we could settle there, or we find another world to resettle your people on. This is going to be horrible, but my wife and I have promised to do everything we can to aid the Eldorai, so my being here is of the utmost importance, as is your assistance in this matter, Kaida. I trust both of you not to disclose this information to anyone not approved by myself or the Queen.”

Tegaea sighed, trying to stop herself considering the implications of everything. She wondered just how the frosty Eldorai would take the news.

There, the bombshell had been dropped. Kaida had elected to stand despite the plush furniture, a decision she now regretted. It felt like someone had just bashed her over the head with a phrik hammer. Her head was spinning as she absorbed the news and its implications.

Kaeshana would be destroyed. The motherland. As much as Kaida had her differences with most of her people, as much as she frankly despised most of the useless, leech-like aristos, hated how so many followed superstitious beliefs...they were her people.

Now the planet would be razed and all they had built destroyed. Millions, no billions would perish. 'As many people as possible' would be evacuated. Which was a nice way of saying that those deemed 'important' would be prioritised first. Which again meant that those with power and influence would be able to buy their way off the planet. They would become a race of vagabonds and exiles, drifting across space until they found this lost elf planet, if they even held together long enough and did not get torn apart by strife.

It was almost too much for her to absorb and she felt like she had trouble breathing. "Kaeshana...my homeworld...will be destroyed," her voice seemed to crack. Oh, Kerrigan would be handling the Kaeshana side. That could not even remotely work out well with that pompous queen running things. Assuming she actually did anything.

But...she would not allow herself to break down or cry. Not in front of anyone. Especially not in front of an aristocrat and a stranger. "I understand. What must I do to help?" Now she had regained a measure of composure again, the ice was back. To her it was stabilising.

Since Judah knew about the destruction, he remained quiet and let Tegaea speak. He didn't know most of the dirty details -- his role, the figures on getting people out and the like. Millions would die. In his extremely humble opinion the youngest of the planet dwellers should be one of the first off. It would create a bit of a crisis of raising the children or actually providing housing. Fellow citizens would have to make a great sacrifice.

From what he knew about these situations, those citizens saved weren't the type of folks willing to hazard inconveniences for long. Getting up from the sitting area, he brought a round of bottled water for the group. By the time he returned, it looked as if Taldir was going to pass out. Judah gently pressed it into her hand before sitting back down.

"I'm asking the same thing, what did you want me to help with Miss Alcori?"

A treacherous part of Tegaea had wanted to see the reaction from Kaida. She quickly dismissed that thought as petty, and instead felt guilty for being so blunt.
Still, the icy elf recovered herself, and both of them looked to her for answers.
“Judah, I’m going to need storage space from you. Somewhere to store food, construction equipment, other supplies. Here, in space, anywhere. I’ll also need all your transports and movers. We’ll pay, or the Eldorai will. We’re going to be shifting literally millions of tonnes of gear, and we’ll need you to help do it.”
“Kaida, I need you to take the refugees aside with Chesna and find out all you can from them. Where they come from, the status of the planet, technology level…everything. I’m going to begin searching for this planet they come from, and from others we can make use of in the area. I’m also going to co-ordinate with other suppliers in this area of the galaxy for other things we need.”

If the redheaded aristo had hoped to see Kaida break down she would unfortunately be disappointed. Obviously she was not made of ice and would have a breakdown of sorts had some point, but not in public. In all likelihood the only person to see Kaida completely lose her composure would be [member="Coryth Elaris"] because she was the only one the Angelii trusted like that.

In any case, there was no point for her to waste time with small talk. "I understand. I'll go chat with them. Thank you for helping my people," she made a gesture to Chesna to come along. Hopefully the nymphomaniac would actually make herself useful instead of just trying to sleep with everyone who had a pulse.

"Any currently unused transports can be yours today, on any of our locations. You'll have to wait a week or so for our full fleet....going to have to find a company to pick up our slack while the ships are in use. Not an overly big deal, after our conversation I'll have the Ceto offices start looking into it. As for storage space, easier said then done. We can slap up some prefabricated warehouses in addition to letting the Eldorai use space at our existing locations. Construction equipment could easily be kept here on Tabaqui, plenty of open space."

Judah paused for a moment.

"There are plenty of local suppliers in the area that could be used. Granted, they may not handle the volume but they are reliable."
