Strengths:
  • Speed: The Donnager-Class Star Destroyer was a quick patrol cruiser and could outpace many capital ships.
  • Communications Array: The Donnager-Class Star Destroyer had an advanced sensor and communications array which allowed it to send and receive transmissions over a much further distance away than standard military arrays.
Weaknesses:
  • Capital Grade Weapons: Low defenses compared to other ships of its class meant slugging it out with other capital ships was almost a death sentence.
  • Classic Blindspot: The engine of the Donnager-Class suffered from the same blind-spot weak point of other Star Destroyers.
  • Atmosphere: Unable to land in an atmosphere
  • Exposed Bridge: The bridge and communications hub of the Donnager-Class Star Destroyer was high up and expose like most other KDY designs. While it offered an amazing view of the battle field it offered a great place to attack once the deflectors were down.
Description: Designed as a complementary escort ship for the newly produced Pellaeon III-Class, the Donnager was set to compete against dozens of ships in its class in a cruiser heavy market. Sporting the classic tried and true design of many KDY vessels, the wedge-shaped space frame was meant to invoke a sense of awe and familiarity. Its size precluded the sense of overwhelming dread that a true Star Destroyer brought to a populous.

The powerful engines and solid maneuverability propped the class up to be a solid patrol cruiser with its class 1 hyperdrive allowing it to quickly respond to threats over great distances. While its shields and armor could withstand lower-powered laser cannon fire from starfighters, it struggled against large capital ships with anti-capital turbolasers and missiles making quick work of its shields. Its own powerful complement of heavy turbolasers, ion cannons, and missile tubes made it an excellent knife fighter in brawls or slash maneuvers.

The Donnager-Class held enough room for a single squadron of fighters and other small craft which were often used to support the boarding groups or marine teams meant to be housed on board. With its extensive communications equipment and long-range subspace antennae, the Donnager-Class Star Destroyer was ideal for defending far-out fringe territories alone or in small pairs. Its speed coupled with its communication abilities and ability to hold fighters made the job of scouting, patrolling, and reporting back to a fleet easy for smaller governments. Its slave rigged systems also meant that these smaller groups could easily man the vessels. With the recent push Galaxy wide for more advanced slave rigging systems and the advent of true AI the Donnager was a step forward in accommodating these changes in naval doctrine.

Ah yes, thank you vod, I swear I'm half blind these days xD Right, just a point I thought I'd raise, I'm not entirely sure that not being able to land is exactly quite a weakness for a light patrol cruiser, but you're free to leave it in there if you so wish. Otherwise, everything actually looks good. Gilamar Skirata Gilamar Skirata
