STRENGTHS
  • Carrier Cruiser - The Dominus-class was designed to serve as both a heavily armed Cruiser and a dedicated Starfighter Carrier, allowing the vessel to fulfill multiple operational roles without relying entirely upon accompanying support vessels. Extensive sections of its internal structure are allocated to hangars, maintenance facilities, and launch bays capable of housing up to nine squadrons, organized as seven squadrons of Starfighters and Bombers, with the remaining two reserved for unarmed support craft, including shuttles and other utility vessels.
  • External Superstructure - Drawing inspiration from the ancient Tho Yor, the Dominus-class utilizes a distinctive external superstructure that surrounds and protects a more spherical internal hull. This arrangement provides additional structural protection to the vessel's central sections while allowing weapons emplacements, defensive systems, and other essential components to be distributed across its exterior. This separation between the outer superstructure and the primary hull also provides some protection against incoming attacks, as parts of the surrounding structure can absorb damage that might otherwise strike the central vessel directly.
  • Weapon Rotation Drives - Like those installed aboard The Eclipse, the Dominus-class incorporates Hapan-inspired Weapon Rotation Drives along its outer hull. These mechanisms let sections of the Cruiser's extensive arsenal rotate into firing positions, bringing charged or loaded weapons forward while other emplacements withdraw to recharge or rearm.
  • Heavy Cruiser - While capable of supporting a substantial Starfighter complement, the Dominus-class retains the offensive capabilities expected of a dedicated Heavy Cruiser. Its extensive arsenal lets the vessel engage enemy Capital Ships directly. Rather than relying exclusively upon its Starfighters to deliver offensive strikes, the Cruiser can participate in sustained ship-to-ship combat while simultaneously supporting its embarked squadrons.
  • Spherical Internal Architecture - Unlike the more pyramidal internal arrangement of The Eclipse, these vessels possess a largely spherical central structure around which their primary systems and compartments are organized. This configuration permits important engineering, command, and logistical facilities to be distributed throughout the vessel's interior while remaining protected by surrounding compartments and the external superstructure. This arrangement also provides multiple potential routes between internal sections, reducing dependence upon a single longitudinal passageway or structural corridor.
  • Mixed Armament Configuration - Rather than relying on a single primary weapon system, the Dominus-class uses a diverse collection of energy weapons and explosive ordnance. Heavy Quad Turbolasers provide sustained anti-capital firepower, while Agrocite Cannons deliver additional destructive capability, and Heavy Ion Cannons allow the cruiser to target enemy systems without necessarily destroying the opposing vessel. Assault Proton Torpedoes and Assault Concussion Missiles supplement these weapons with powerful explosive strikes, allowing commanders to adapt their offensive approach according to the defenses and composition of an opposing force.

WEAKNESSES
  • Sublight Speed - The Dominus-class is a heavily armored Capital Ship carrying an extensive arsenal of weaponry, defensive systems, and embarked Starfighters. The considerable mass of these systems places substantial demands on its primary propulsion systems, resulting in relatively low sublight speeds. Although it can maintain formation with larger fleet elements, the Cruiser is poorly suited to rapid interception missions or prolonged pursuits against smaller, faster vessels.
  • External Superstructure - The elaborate external framework surrounding the Dominus-class provides additional protection to its central hull, though it also presents numerous exposed structural elements that can be targeted during an engagement. Sustained weapons fire against these sections may compromise external weapon mounts, damage supporting systems, or obstruct access to portions of the underlying hull. Severe structural damage can also leave debris and twisted framework surrounding the vessel, potentially interfering with nearby weapons emplacements or hangar approaches.
  • Weapon Rotation Drives - Although the rotational weapon systems provide considerable offensive flexibility, they also add mechanical complexity to the vessel's outer hull. Damage to the rotation mechanisms, their supporting power systems, or their associated control components can prevent affected weapon emplacements from moving into their intended firing positions. In such circumstances, otherwise functional weapons may become temporarily or permanently restricted to a limited firing arc, reducing the Cruiser's ability to concentrate or redistribute its firepower.
  • Limited Pursuit Capability - Although the Dominus-class possesses considerable offensive firepower, its low speed and maneuverability limit its effectiveness against opponents that refuse to engage directly. Enemy vessels that can maintain distance or rapidly withdraw beyond weapons range can avoid prolonged confrontations, leaving the Cruiser dependent on its embarked Starfighters or accompanying escorts to continue pursuit.
  • Hangar Vulnerabilities - The extensive internal facilities required to support multiple squadrons occupy a considerable portion of the Cruiser's available volume. Although the surrounding hull and defensive systems protect these sections, hangar entrances and launch corridors remain potential points of vulnerability. Damage to these areas can obstruct flight operations, prevent the recovery of damaged craft, or temporarily trap entire squadrons within the vessel.
  • Concentrated Systems Damage - The spherical arrangement of the Dominus-class protects important systems within its central structure, but it also allows damage concentrated in a single region to affect several interconnected compartments. Penetrating attacks that breach the outer superstructure and reach the internal hull may damage adjacent systems, disrupt internal transit routes, or compromise shared engineering infrastructure. Although compartmentalization and damage-control measures can reduce the consequences of such attacks, extensive internal damage may require significant repairs before the affected sections can return to normal operation.

DESCRIPTION
The Dominus-class Cruiser was conceived as an extension of the same design philosophy that produced The Eclipse, though adapted to meet the demands of a more conventional and operationally versatile Capital Ship. Developed by Aether Systems for use by Srina Talon and affiliated interests, the vessel combines the offensive capabilities of a Heavy Cruiser with the logistical infrastructure and aerospace complement of a Carrier Cruiser. Rather than matching the immense scale and commanding presence of its larger counterpart, the Dominus-class applies the same architectural principles in a more practical way, intended to provide a formidable presence across a wider range of military operations.

Its appearance is unmistakably derived from the ancient Tho Yor, incorporating an unconventional arrangement of geometric structures surrounding a substantial central hull. While The Eclipse has an immense pyramidal superstructure, the Dominus-class uses a more compact design built around a largely spherical interior. This central structure forms the cruiser's primary body, while an elaborate arrangement of exterior framework, armored sections, and weapons emplacements surrounds it. The resulting silhouette is both unusual and imposing, bearing little resemblance to the elongated profiles commonly associated with conventional Cruisers and Star Destroyers.

Heavy hull plating and redundant defensive systems protect the central structure. Multiple layers of armor, reinforced internal components, and overlapping Deflector Shields are intended to preserve the vessel's integrity during sustained engagements. The external framework provides another layer of separation between incoming fire and the Cruiser's primary compartments, though it also introduces structural elements that remain exposed to enemy weapons. The Dominus-class consequently relies upon a combination of physical protection, active shielding, and dedicated defensive weapons rather than any single system to ensure its survival. Considerable attention was devoted to the vessel's role as a Carrier Cruiser, with extensive portions of its internal structure containing hangar bays, launch facilities, maintenance workshops, and the equipment necessary to support a substantial complement of smaller craft.

Much like The Eclipse, the Dominus-class incorporates a series of Hapan-inspired Weapon Rotation Drives along its exterior hull. These mechanisms let portions of its extensive arsenal rotate around designated sections of the vessel, bringing charged or loaded weapon systems into position while others cycle away to recharge or rearm. The arrangement is particularly useful given the Cruiser's limited maneuverability, as it reduces the need to reposition the entire vessel whenever a different weapon system is required. However, this system does not eliminate the limitations imposed by the vessel's size and architecture, as the Cruiser itself remains comparatively slow to maneuver, and the rotation mechanisms are vulnerable to damage during prolonged engagements. Nevertheless, the Dominus-class was not designed to dominate every engagement through speed or tactical agility, as its strengths lie in endurance, protection, sustained firepower, and the ability to support a sizeable contingent of Starfighters while remaining directly involved in capital ship combat.

Where the Eclipse serves as a monumental seat of authority and the commanding centerpiece of an armada, the Dominus-class fulfills a more directly military purpose. It is a heavily armored instrument of war, built to withstand punishment, sustain its squadrons, and deliver overwhelming firepower wherever its presence is required. It lacks the speed to dictate every engagement or the maneuverability to escape every unfavorable confrontation. Instead, it can endure and deliver firepower that makes that endurance costly for anyone who challenges it.
