• Races: N/A
Strengths

 • Skull Bash: The name is highly indicative of its primary defensive ability, as the Domeskull possesses a densely reinforced upper skull, which it uses as a weapon when defending itself. The creature tucks its head down level with the target as it charges towards them, providing enough force at full sprint to easily break human bones. Several instances of fatalities from a full-speed charge have also been recorded.

 • Speed: While not the fastest animal on land, the Domeskull possesses an excellent top speed and quick acceleration, notable especially given its size. Despite not being very agile, the Domeskull can reach its top speed in mere seconds, preferring to run rather than fight when faced by a predator.

 • Easily Trainable: Many instances of Domeskulls being trained as beasts of burden or mounts for travellers have been recorded, making them one of the more easily trained creatures on New Plympto for even a novice.

Weaknesses

 • Typical Weaponry: Blasters and slugthrowers are very effective against the Domeskull, as its skin doesn’t provide much protection. They can be taken down easily in two or three shots from a typical blaster.

 • Easily Spooked: While they can be trained to resist sounds, wild Domeskulls are exceptionally easy to scare away, whether it be loud noises or large groups of potential predators. This can be dangerous as they will very likely trample anything or anyone in their way in an attempt to get to safety.

 • Striking Round Objects: While its skull bash can be deadly to humans, it doesn’t come without risks. The primary of which is slippage on contact with a rounded surface. Striking with the head at full speed is risky when the target is a rounded object as slippage can result in permanent neck damage and possibly death for the creature.

CULTURE
 • Diet: Herbivorous
 • Communication: Simple Vocalizations and Body Language
 • Technology level: N/A
 • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
GENERAL BEHAVIOR

Domeskulls are solitary nomadic herbivores, roaming both the plains and forests of New Plympto in search of food and water sources. Their preferred source of nourishment is the fruit on small to medium sized trees, but they have also been noted both in captivity and in the wild to feed on tall shrubbery and, in some cases, low grasses. Despite their solitary nature it isn’t uncommon to see them group together at water sources, especially in regions where predators are prevalent.

Their mating season occurs every 2 years, which is one of the few times large groups of Domeskulls come together voluntarily. This typically happens on open plain areas, as males and females gather to select a mate, a process that seems to be done at random rather than by skill or coloration as observed in many other species.

Aggression is not a noted trait in Domeskulls, as they often prefer to flee from danger. They have been observed to utilize their skulls as a dangerous weapon when combined with their natural speed, but only when forced by a persistent predator or when surrounded by packs.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

One of many species reintroduced to New Plympto following its sordid past, the Domeskull is one of the most interesting, as it has a very long history alongside the Nosaurians due to its ease of training and uses as beasts of burden that can defend themselves and others. Having diverged via evolution some 10 million years ago, the peaceful nature of the Domeskull and its herbivorous status make it one that is easy to approach for the well-researched person, especially those raised in captivity around other species. A long history exists of the Domeskull being domesticated, separating them from their wild brethren, and utilized by Nosaurians and others for long-distance transport along the ground, not only because of their strong backs and legs which allow for them to carry large amounts of materials, but also due to their ability to deliver a potentially lethal strike with their dense heads to threats while on the road.
