Sitting in one of the showroom corporate locations of Guardian Authority Ltd., Caltin was actually on the stairs lifting and setting down a Jedi Interceptor. The showroom was closed and the security staff knew exactly who he was so there was absolutely no issue. He was waiting on someone, an old friend, his adoptive sister. It had been a while since they had seen each other and he had a gift. The very starship he was lifting and setting down. This would not be such a sight, but it was the electrical field around the ship that was the conversation starter.

They needed to talk.

Truth is, he hadn’t kept up on her recovery like he wanted to, was she still in the chair? Was she up and around ready to fight everything and everyone? Was she back to being the Ala Quin Ala Quin anyone would adore after knowing for five minutes? She probably would not recognize him at this point either, but that was a conversation for when she arrived…

… if she arrived.

No doubt, Ala would notice how she could read his thoughts without effort, she always could anyway, but it is simpler now due to what happened to him recently, but she would also notice that he does not have an aura in the way she would recognize. That will take some explaining. Maybe she would not be concerned about this, who knows, she may not even care at this point, or any more, but the big guy always felt the need to keep her up to date about things in his life. It may be a bit cliche or clingy, but it was who he was. She was still "family" to him. This whole “company” thing, it wasn’t him, or his idea, but “his” money, which meant “their” money. He had long ago meant it when he said that his money was hers, that trust fund set up for him so long ago… he was a Jedi… what did he need with it? Why not spread it around. He did not know Jax Thio Jax Thio well and truthfully did not trust Joran Del-Finn Joran Del-Finn much at all right now. Angellus had the ideas and the connections to get this up and running. He could be a silent partner and throw in an idea of his own from time to time.

Like this gift.

It was a play on an old nickname of hers for him, and a rebuild of the classic Jedi Interceptor. There were extras to it that would fit her needs and style (the wider, relaxed cockpit for one, the Force Imbued circuitry for another), most of all, it was his way of breaking any ice that was there. Not that there would ever be any.

There were many things that Ala was, flighty, idealistic, a dreamer, a burgeoning warrior, but she was never, no she was never, ever tardy. Ala Quin arrived exactly when she intended to and not a second later or earlier. This did not mean that she was keeping up with other people’s schedules, though she certainly tried and never meant any offence if she was considered late by other measures of the word.

This whole corporate thing seemed quite impressive, and she wondered if this is what Caltin had done with his money. If so, well done! And she was not surprised. He was the successful type, and she always found it impressive.

Having been directed towards a showroom within the compound, Ala walked in to see a large physical presence, that did not quite look like Caltin, but sure seemed to carry itself in the same manner.

”Cal….tin?” She said, feeling immediately unsure of the situation. Something felt…off.

Caltin may have changed, but Ala sure didn't. She was on her own time as always, which is what he expected, and loved about her, and though her aura was still the same, there was something that caught his attention. She had not changed, but there was something else about her that was not disconcerting, but it was something that he would ask her about at the right time. She had her own life to live and while it felt a little sad for him to let go like that, but he did. Her voice, though confused, still brought a smile to his face.

Turning around to have a glance he quipped. Good to see you up and around. Bring it in. They may not be who they once were, but she was not leaving here without a hug. He was still holding the fighter overhead, electrical field and all.

Did you have trouble getting here? What do you think? He waved one hand around as the other set down the ship. Turnes out I have another descendant, an Angellus. I fronted the money, but he runs the place.

There was no hesitation with going in for the hug, seeing he had opened his mouth and revealed the some personality and voice of her big brother. Despite something not feeling right, there was enough that felt right to over come that initial tension. As usual, she had to jump a little to get her arms around the tree trunk of a neck and squeeze.

“Missed ya, Cally,” she said with a teasing tone.

Dropping out of the hug, she looked again at the ship overhead. Nothing seemed out of place, Caltin, ships and levitation…seemed on par.

”Ah, no…no problem getting in,” she said, shaking off ’that odd feeling’ again, “more descendants? Vanagor’s getting busy hey?” Ala grinned and punched Caltin’s shoulder.

The joke was good-natured, it wouldn't Ala if it wasn't but it made him blush (which was no doubt her intent). No.

He didn't have to tell her, his normal Rancorr hugs told her all she needed to know about that. The ship set down and he walked over to it opening up the cockpit. Proud of himself, he waved Ala over and punched a couple of buttons on the HUD. The ship was a classic design, but it everything about it, right down to the color was "Ala", or at least the Ala he knew, the big guy made sure of it. It's funny really as he was never fully sure why he started with these charitable acts, but it made him happy so he let the thought go.

She was nervous though, he couldn't quite figure out why but she would bring it up to him when she was ready to, no doubt. Get in! Get in. Everything was designed and measured with you in mind.

“For the love of Ashla,” Ala whispered as she ran her fingers from the nose of the ship down its hull. She lowered her eye line to look across the slick paint job. The subtle earthy colours truly spoke to her. It would not look out of place hiding in a jungle, or on a desert world. Nothing garish, just muted, calm and subtle. She loved it.

“She fly good?” Ala said without even looking towards Calin. Her body was still recovering from the loving squeeze that almost always threatened to knock the wind out of her.

Clambering into the cockpit, Ala slipped into the cockpit. Everything she needed was within arms reach. There wasn’t a single instrument she needed to lean forward to activate, nor a single weapon that was not nearby the flick of her thumb.

Her smile spoke more than her words could as she turned her head to begin to say, “Thank you.”

"By the light of Ashla."?

That caught him off guard, something that he had not expected her to say. It's not that he was suspicious of anything, after all, it's "Ala", just what did it mean? Oh well, no sense dwelling on it. What was more important to experience and witness was the fact that she did not look at him sideways when he told her about the starship. Normally the little pixie would look at Caltin like he had three heads, but there was a purpose to this, and he would explain it if asked. Then again, he would explain it if not asked.

She's actually not only tuned to your specifications, right down to your reflexes, and style of piloting, she's imbued with different capabilities of the Force. So yeah, "she flies good". There was a hint of pride in his voice as he made the comment smiling.

It was actually heartwarming, for all of the distance between them, for that that has happened, they were not the people they once were, that was certain (the fact that she is a clone notwithstanding) but the way Ala looked as she inspected her new ride. It reminded him of the old days when things were simpler for both of them. Hands-on his hips, the big guy just gave Ala the smile he always had reserved just for her and nodded as she went to thank him.

You're my sister, I won't let you go around in anything but the best I can arrange.

Then he became a little sullen, no less happy, but more accepting of their current situation.

You may not need me anymore, but I can still be a "big brother" to you when you let me.

The ship was ridiculously perfect, even the lumbar support was just right to boot. The comfort was only sullied by Caltin’s strange words. What did he mean? She didn’t need him?

Turning her head, he looked up at the big guy, and let go a mighty frown, but mixed it with an assuring smile.

”I could never not need you, Caltin. What makes you talk like this?“

He wasn't in any funk or anything. He was just accepting that their lives were going in separate directions. They would always be there when the other called, to be sure, but she had to be able to come into her own, and he needed to learn to let go. It made him feel bad that she took his words the way she did, but it was true.

You're developing a life for yourself. One you've always deserved, without me being a breath away staring anyone who could befriend you or anything away. You deserve it, I just have to learn to step back is all. I guess that's what I'm trying to do.

He's sounding more like a "dad" than a "brother" now...
