Discussion Do Things Seem a Little Stale?

You asked the hypothetical question first. You have no clue whether or not creating a faction and reaching out to the other Major Factions for invasions and skirmishes would be well received or not.

I merely was pointing out that.

I have a strong feeling, an inkling really, that me creating a Major Faction with the only goal being "I am going to PvP and invade you" would not be well-received by many people. I think most importantly, anyone who asks me "Alan why did you make this faction". If I said "I created this solely to invade the Mandalorian Empire/TSC/THR" that would be what we call "toksičan" in my native language. And rightly so. I've seen factions over the years that are mostly sparked by OOC motivations, I don't think they're good ideas.

If I created a Major Faction that was "we are here just to kill everyone that likes Tuesdays" do you think that would be well-received and well suited for generating roleplay, a fun environment for people to be in, and a welcoming community?

I dunno what if I order a lemon water with my next meal? what does that even mean?
It means you are boring and predictable. But in response to what Lily said it meams you aren't willing to talk things out apparently, because her implication was that Majors are not necessarily closed to the idea of an invasion. Probably just need a good hook, a decent reason, something to drive the plot other than 'I want what you have, now give.' Why do you want it? What is the driving force from a purely IC perspective? Come to MFO's respectfully and with a decent plot hook, watch the fun that can be had with invasions. Don't do that? Well then it is far less fun for everyone involved, and they are less likely to want to write with you. Basically this:Collaborate with other writers on the collaborative forum RP and you will have more fun. Things will also be far less stale feeling for you.

It wouldn't and the people telling you that it would be are being dishonest.

:( lets not fight everyone.

I literally just wanted to see if anybody else was feeling the way I felt. If you want I can start a "what new factions do we want to see" post if people think that is something worth discussing?

at this point just create an lfg to find a get a core group of writers with an idea and story you all want to tell.

There really is no need to make a whole other thread on "on what do we want to see". Because all it will be is people talking and how everything has been done. And you know what, who cares if its a story you and your friends wants to tell has already been done. Its about having fun and doing your own thing, others will want to join if youre having fun and being positive. At this point, just do it.

Its all talk and no writing to put it into play. Literally we are going in a circle constantly.

There have been Major Factions just like this whose goal was to swing on everyone that have existed on Chaos and have been very successful over the years.

The first that comes to mind and the most recent within the last five years was The Brotherhood of the Maw.

The second and much older were the Primeval and the Moross Crusade.

Also, the most infamous, well-known, and successful of the “Swing on Everyone” factions were the Brynadul who tore through the map.

It had been done and it can be done again.

Here's the problem, you both are making up opinions and views on things neither of you are willing to attempt to do. Not building any factions, stories or plot hooks that will draw people in.

Claiming something would fail without even attempting it, that is the negativity this discussion has been dragging on now is just coming across as petty and refusal to understand why things don't go your way.

You miss every shot you never take and there hasn't been attempts from either of you to create anything positive.

There are several writers on this board who will vehemently disagree with you as it pertains to me and making content for roleplay. Conversely I would have already made moves to make a Major faction, however, I am ineligible to become an MFO.

My opinions are accurate as I have had people come into my Discord to quietly agree with what I have said so far in this thread.

You're telling me, that you're saying, unequivocally, that in my 13 years on Chaos, I have never created anything positive? You gotta call 555-come-on-now for that one big dawg.

"I am doing fine, therefore the problem must be your attitude or lack of effort," is exactly the kind of response that prevents an honest discussion about cliques, accessibility, failed outreach, and why some people have stopped trying.

It is not fair to dismiss people's experiences simply because your own experience has been different. Telling people they are only being negative, complaining, or failing to put in enough effort can feel like telling them to be quiet rather than listening to what they are actually saying.

People should be able to discuss patterns they have encountered without being treated as though their experiences are invalid. Disagreement is fine, but shutting people down does nothing to address the underlying problem.
