Dishonor among thieves || Chapter I. (Full)

Chapter I
Stranded on No Man's World

After a recent massive heist of an enormous deal of money and a desired symbolic figurine where a Raven double-crosses his 'co-workers' and robs the loot murdering his fellow ravens in the process, a team of ravens is comissioned to track down the traitor with the syndicate's reputation and inner order at stake.

The chase for justice started immediately when the news had reached the Dragon Palace Casino on Antecedent. The team forged to deliver justice and vengeance consisted of the bossy Chief of Staff of the Red Ravens Patricia Susan Garter, the short-tempered foul-mouthed Nagai Lurcano Car'dann, and the intimidating ex-soldier Jasem Wardon.
The full of contrast team's journey towards Coruscant, where the dishonorable ex-red raven's location was reported to be, was cut short when their average sized freighter broke out off hyperspace, systems completely failing and directing the ship towards the closest planet in the open space. The malfunction which blocks complete control over ship seems quite odd to occur to a red raven ship as they are inspected thoroughly only by other red ravens.
Fortunately, despite the crash on the quite green and blue planet obliterating more than half of the Red Ravens' supplies and some of their essential personal belongings, the passengers survive only with a couple of bruises here and there.
First thing immediately to be done was to instinctively open the exit hatch and reveal a morning of an endless horizon of nature with no hints of civillization.

The infinite green seemed to hint that it was a flatland, with some hills here and there, a few thick woods dotted the land further away from their position. Above in the sky the morning sun shone bright and warmly upon the faces of the team, while various noises of fauna could be heard occassionally.
No Man's World.
The landscape of a complete unihabited world would swiftly change as a shuffle in a few bushes ten feet away from the red ravens opened the way for gnomes armed with sticks, spears and other very primitive weapons.

A total of eight gnomes had appeared from the bushes, grouped in pairs so that they formed a half-circle around the red ravens group.
One of them, seemingly younger than most, stepped forward and ferociously spoke with a broken Basic to the ravens:
"You not here, leave, land ours!!"
The gnome growled under his breath and angrily looked at the ravens.
An older gnome with a long white beard stepped forward with a very calm demanour and gestured to the younger gnome to go back.
"Please excuse young Falin." The older gnome smiled warmly at the ravens, his skills in the Basic language as good as native. " I am mayor Dinli of the Sleeping Giant town, we are the Ligos, the natives of this planet."
Dinli stood there still smiling while an awkward silence lingered in the air until he realized he should speak some more.
"Oh my, I've nearly forgotten to ask you, what is that you seek in our lovely home?"

Lurcano Car'dann

"Kark you, I won't do what you tell me."
Lurcano groaned as his eyes fluttered open. The red emergency lights of the freighter they had trusted to take them to Coruscant were now blasting in full affect. Thankfully, the sound that usually accompanied the emergency lights seemed to missing; though Lurcano couldn't discern whether that was actually the case or whether his eardrums were just not functioning properly. He took another deep breath before sitting up, the muscles in his abdomen protesting this movement as pain and discomfort flared all throughout his body. 'Damn, we got karked up. What the chit happened?'

Lurcano had been heading towards his quarters when the everything had gone to chit. The lights had been the first to go, and everyone had been plunged into a pitch black darkness. That had given Lurcano pause for a moment, and even before thoughts could begin to formulate in his head with one witty remark or another, the ship immediately began to plummet down towards the planet they were orbiting. As the ship was once again illuminated by the emergency lights, and the alarms began to sound, Lurcano had time to think one thing before the asphyxiation of decelerating thousands of feet per second kicked in. Gravities a queen, ain't it?'

The sound of Lurcanos feet as they shuffled across the cold interior of the freighter sounded all through out the hallway. Suddenly Lurcano broke into a brisk job. 'Might as well go to my quarters and salvage what I can.' He raced to his destination, and in less then a minute he was there. With some force, he managed to push the door open as a falling cabinet had wedged it shut. He donned his set of Phrick armor, which, despite falling over onto the ground as the ship had crashed; was completely fine. After a good ten minutes or so of securing everything that needed to be secured, Lurcano began to head for the exit doors to see what kind of state they were in.

As Lurcano headed for the exit doors, he came upon a dead end. Curious, he moved closer to investigate. The blast doors of the ship had shut down, and through the window he saw a dimly lit room filled with the various crew members that had been tasked with the job of maintaing it. At first Lurcano was unsure of what had happened and why the doors were closed, but his eyes full upon the oxygen counter by the doors keypad which was promptly blinking red at 0%. 'The blast doors must have shut down to make sure the breach in the hull didn't spread to the rest of the ship. Damn. I knew this ship was a piece of junk the moment I laid eyes on it. Karking ridiculous.' With a sigh, Lurcano turned and began to search for another way towards the exit doors; wondering how many people were as lucky as he was to be in one of the areas that hadn't been breached.

Lurcano thought to himself while heading towards the exit doors, 'I assume I'm not the only survivor, because well, I'm not that unlucky. Or that lucky really. If I somehow managed to make it off whatever gods forsaken planet I happen to be on now, a promotion would be due. After all, with Patricia being gone, we'd need a new Chief of Staff now wouldn't we? Alas, it is not to be.' The exit doors came into view and Lurcano slowed his jog into a walk. He surveyed the survivors and he wasn't very impressed. Patricia had survived, 'Of course she did, karking figures.' And she was flanked by some other fellow who Lurcano had never seen before.

They exchanged greetings, before the man set upon opening the doors of the freighter. After a few minutes of finnicking with the controls, he actually managed to get them open. 'Well at least he was useful for something.' Lurcano thought in his head. As the doors opened, and the crew began to walk down the crooked ramp, Lurcano remarked to no one in particular.

Lurcano Car'dann: "Wow. If we weren't totally lucky, and this planet wasn't one rich with oxygen that could support life. We might have just been totally karked. Funny how things work out that way isn't it?"

Lurcano had to admit though, the planet they were on was undeniably beautiful. After spending years of breathing in the disgusting, smog filled atmosphere of Nar Shaddaa and even Antecedent, he couldn't help but enjoy the rich, unpolluted air that filled the young planet. A sense of wonder filled him, that reminded him of when he was just a child on Nagi as he stared at the sprawling hills and the still young sun which illuminated the land.

This illusion was quickly shattered as various gnome like creatures began to approach them. Immediately to Lurcanos aggravation, they began to speak.

Falin: "You not here, leave, land ours!!"
Dinli: "Please excuse young Falin. I am mayor Dinli of the Sleeping Giant town, we are the Ligos, the natives of this planet. Oh my, I've nearly forgotten to ask you, what is that you seek in our lovely home?"

Lurcano Car'dann: Lurcanos first instinct was to kick one of them. But he quickly stifled him. Seemingly the first one out of the group to shake the shock of seeing such strange creatures on an otherwise, what seemed to them anyway, uninhabited world. Lurcano decided to speak up first for the group. "Oh of course, no offense taken. Your planet is very beautiful indeed, and it is pleasure to meet all of you. What do we seek? Well. As you can see, we've crash landed here. Our freighter underwent what we can only assume to have been a series of system failures that resulted in our arrival here. Do you have any way of getting us back up and running? We would greatly appreciate it and we could make it worth your while in some way or another?" As Lurcano finished his speech, he thought, 'Whatever these things are. If they can get us off this planet. I'll be thankful.'

Jasem came to under a table in the galley. He had been trying to enjoy a quiet meal when the insanity began, but thats all he could remember. As he surveyed his surroundings, bathed in the red emergency lights of warning, he saw the bodies of a few unfortunate crew members laid out around the room. Heads bashed and necks snapped.

He brought his watch to his face and lit up the display. "Well, that was about the longest uninterrupted bout of sleep I've had in ages," he said to himself. Despite the much needed rest, he reminded himself he really did need to move. Gas leaks, fires, possible flooding. Who knows what could be going on outside of this room.

He rolled the table to the side where it clattered into more debris around him, then stood slowly. Everything ached, especially his head, but he made it to his feet, did a quick digit-check, then headed out of the galley.

As Jasem progressed through the decks he called out for other survivors, finding a couple banged up and terrified crewmen, but alive. They passed by the armory and collected weapons. The two with him withdrew pistols and five magazines while Jasem went straight for the shotgun on the floor. 'Good condition,' he thought to himself, surprised that it had survived the tumble with only scratches.

The rest of their journey through the ship was quick as they went straight for the aft end of the ship where they assumed the survivors would head. Most crashes don't end too well for the bow. When they arrived they were greeted by the friendly faces of fellow survivors, of which there were few. Jasem took a moment for those that didn't survive the landing, then started looking for the rest of his team.

It didn't take long to locate the other two, Lurcano the Nagai and Patricia the Female. Beyond that he didn't know much about them and, until they were out of this mess, didn't plan on getting to know them too well. All the same, he greeted them and suggested they go ahead and get out of the wreck.

Jasem took to the task of opening the doors by going to the console and running the sequence of commands to open the doors.

<System Commands>
<Portal Commands>
<Open Bay Doors>

He was met with an angry noise from the console and a message that, abbreviated, told him to screw off and it wasn't happening.

Jasem turned to the group near the door and said, "Y'all might want to take a few steps back," as he moved towards them. He located the panel with direct access to the hydraulic line and opened it, then took a step back and blasted it with the shotgun. After preforming the same procedure with the other main line, he took to the console again and ran the command to disengage the locks. The locks disengaged and the large door slammed to the ground, shaking the deck, and carved into the ground a ways, then followed as the group exited the wreck.

When the gnomes emerged he aimed his weapon at them, paying very close attention to the ones flanking the older gnome that appeared to be in charge. He said nothing and listened as the conversation went on. He was brand new, green as grass to these folks. If they wanted his opinion, he would be asked, but until then he needn't say a word.

Patricia was sitting in front of a holo computer on a video call with her husband Jarven, she was of course wearing a sexy set of lingerie. Yes it was that sort of video call, even though the stars were keeping them apart she still enjoyed having fun with her man. But of course right before she let the goods go and show them off to the galaxy the damn ship crashed. And she must of hit her head on something because everything had gone black.

When she awoke her head hurt and her vision faded in and out of reality. Furniture was tossed everywhere and she groaned in pain. Lifting up her hands she moved to rub her face then she noticed something about her pinky and ring finger, they definitely weren't supposed to bend that way. They had been dislocated, so on top of crash landing where ever they were she was going to have to do something painful.

The little blonde let out a short cry of pain as the first finger was popped back into place with a sick snap. She took a few pained gasps of air then another short bark of pain when the second was pushed back into place. Moving her hand she twitched a bit then sighed in relief, it was going to be ok. The Red Raven Chief of Staff stood up and walked over to her closet, or what was left of it. Opening it up she grabbed a pair of tennis shoes and her little red dress she was well known for wearing. Slipping them on she slung a tactical vest over the dress and began to load up.

Taking two Czerka pistols she strapped them and a few extra clips of ammo around her thighs. Next was her high powered rifle or Redentor and two clips of ammo that slung into her back pouch of the tactical vest. Afterwards she took a outlaw shotgun and strapped it on her back along with a few grenades. Wherever they were she was ready to party.

Stepping out from her room she exited the wreckage and caught Lucarno bargaining with some midgets. Man he was an idiot, Patricia face palmed and walked forward.

"Lucarno, they are holding sticks and the other one barely speaks basic. Do you honestly think they know how to fix this ship? In fact this ship is probably beyond saving, we're caught in the gravity well." Patricia cocked back her rifle and thought to ask more productive questions.

"You speak pretty good basic, I'm Patricia. Can you tell me if you people have a communicator of any kind? Or if there is anyone on this planet who taught you how to speak basic?" Patricia asked the gnomes nicely despite being armed to the teeth.

"We don't want any problems." She added with sincerity

Falin, the younger dwarf scowled at the older and jabbered away in whatever their native laguage was. Dwarfese or something. Didn't matter. Irrelevant. A fairly heated conversation ensued however, with a few of the others who had up until now remained silent chiming in with a word or two. Eventually however, it became clear that Mayor Dinli was coming out the victor in this little conquest, and he turned back to the trio.

"The lady is correct, we cannot fix your ship, such a task is beyond us I'm afraid."

He paused, stroking his beard, clearly uncomfortable about something.

"There may be a way we could help you.. but we would need your help in return first. Not,"

he added, holding up his hands as though to forstall an arguement

"not because we are bartering. We would like to help, we simply cannot until you help us, and I cannot tell you why. It would put my people in too much danger."

Falin spat something in Dwarfese, and a few of the others were shifting from foot to foot restlessly, broadcasting their unhappiness about the conversation taking place. Tiny little baby hands tightened on weapons, though they took no aggressive moves. Yet.

"A very dangerous being has taken up residence in our old home.. If you could defeat him, we could take what we need from there and be able to help you."

He waited to see how this proposition would be taken.

Dinli: "The lady is correct, we cannot fix your ship, such a task is beyond us I'm afraid. There may be a way we could help you.. but we would need your help in return first. Not because we are bartering. We would like to help, we simply cannot until you help us, and I cannot tell you why. It would put my people in too much danger. A very dangerous being has taken up residence in our old home.. If you could defeat him, we could take what we need from there and be able to help you."

Lurcano Car'dann: Lurcano considered the mans proposition, albeit not for very long. Patricias arrival had been cause for much annoyance. 'Bloody hell. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.' When the small creature mentioned the ability to fix their ship, or help them in some way or another; Lurcano had smirked and he shot a haughty glance towards Patricias direction. 'That will show her. Now the thing is, what kind of dangerous being is this?'

"I accept your offer. I'm confident I can deal with any problem you little fellows might have all by myself, much less with some of the surviving crew members behind us. What could you possibly need help with that we couldn't handle? So tell me, what beast is this? What dangerous being has supposedly moved into your old home; and how will getting rid of it allow us to get the hell off this rock, albeit a very pretty rock at that. Do you have accesses to technology?"

Jasem watched the small ones at a distance, allowing the negotiations to occour between each group's respective leaders, and kept his weapon at the ready. He didn't trust them a bit, especially the hothead, and he felt that they knew it. When the old one finished speaking he took a step towards Patricia.

"Ma'am," he started, "they're fondling their weapons. Only two reasons for that and I think you know. They're scared and nervous or scared and ready to kill us just in case."

When he finished he stepped back to his initial position and continued his watch.

Patricia looked over to her sergeant at arms and raised her eyebrow at the man, he accepted? She was standing right here, her boss. And he was accepting on her behalf, what a gentleman. Patricia sighed at that then looked over to the more fresh raven among them, at least he had the sense to be aware of his surroundings and make notes.

"Lucarno not that I wouldn't accept the offer myself but I'm in charge here, so please let me do the talking" Patricia said with a sigh and turned her head to he gnomes.

"Okay so as my affiliate here said we will help you, but there are some terms. We need one of your kind as a guide and to assist us. We need a local otherwise we are wandering around with our thumbs in our collective asses. So other than that we will help." Patricia then made sure she was holding her Redentor in a low but ready to strike position that remained casual.

"They aren't going to attack don't worry" Patricia said to her new friend
