President Brucavaticus “Bruce” Londson paced back and forth across the tall atrium of the Administration Building of Eridaka City. The room contained formal-looking, but not uncomfortable chairs made of an odd spongy substance, two long tables carved out of coral shaped into semicircles leaving a circular gap in between them, and a large holoprojector was built into the floor between the tables. The transparent walls had clear views out into the dark ocean and all of the creatures that swam past. The diplomats would be arriving soon, and The President wanted to make a good first impression.

The planet Karkaris had been locked in an unending Civil War for the past few hundred years, which had ended only recently. Now that the planet’s population was no longer isolated, they had gotten a nasty shock when they discovered that the genocidal Bryn’adûl had territory that was uncomfortably close to Karkaris. The main reason this meeting was being held was so that the Karkarodons could gain military allies to prepare for the possibility of a Bryn’adûl invasion of their planet.

Of course, that was hardly the only reason. President Londson also wanted to meet some representatives of the new ruling factions of the galaxy in person out of curiosity, and to possibly establish commerce with other nearby planets. Importing construction materials could massively speed up the rebuilding of the planet. In fact, the main reason that this city was chosen to host the meeting was that it was the largest city that was finished with being rebuilt.

“President Londson?” A voice belonging to one of the President’s two bodyguards said, snapping the President out of his thoughts. “The diplomats are arriving now.” The guard continued. “Good. Escort them here please. When they have arrived, stay outside the room, please.” The President responded. The two bodyguards walked out of the atrium to escort the diplomats in. After they left, the President sat down in the chair farthest from the door. “What’s the worst that could possibly happen?” He thought to himself, not actually daring to think about the worst that could actually happen. A few minutes later, the diplomats began filling into the room.

Underwater. That was something she had a hard time wrapping her head around, despite growing up around the Susefvi docks and her first office being an apartment above a dockside saloon. But then, that was around the water, not underneath it. Plus, she'd been a spacer before she went into politics. In-system only, but still she was more used to dealing with the vacuum of space and vectors to travel between moons and other deep space bodies.

Karkaris had only just begun to be more involved with the galaxy again and found themselves face to face with the Bryn'adul. And while this was far outside the area the League tended to work, it was still technically the Outer Rim. When the word had gotten out, Mya had packed her bags and jumped aboard one of the Rescue Services' smaller couriers to pick their way through the galaxy to reach the area.

The guards escorted them through the room and she paused behind a seat, setting down a datapad and collection of files. "It's very nice to meet you, President Londson," Mya said with a warm smile. "I'm Mya Jesel, Chairperson of the Rimward Trade League and President of the Sovereign Susefvi Republic."
