Developing Defense

Ar'ekk was right. Cecilia was being too aggressive, and when one is on the attack, one's moves are limited. When one is not, one can attack, block, lock, counter and move. Makashi was a style meant to be efficient in drawn out duels. It was not a style for those who sought to won, but for those who were willing to wait.

This round, Cecilia would bide her time. She assumed the ready position. Lunging stab, deflect; rotating back step, counter; block and counter-- Ar'ekk casually leaned back and her counter missed completely. Slash, parry; slash, parry; slash, block; backstep, ready stance; step through strike, block; strike, parry; strike, parry; strike, parry; strike, block; lock, lock.

Cecilia looked at Ar'ekk through their locked blades. "You have quite the defense." she said, disengaging and back stepping.

Her attacks had been much more varied and efficient that time, she was sure of it, although perhaps only slightly so. Either way, she had been paying too much attention to how she had been moving her sword to think about actually winning the fight.

The Flesh Of Fallen Angels
"Better. Remember that Makashi is all about the footwork, you've got to improvise a little too. Give your opponent no chance to breath."

The man exchanged some wisdom from the form's technique, all the intricates of what you would usually have to do and not to do in certain situations. If your life depended on it, Ar'ekk would go further into the matter to make sure you'd understand because he had to prepare you for the eventuality.

"We'll be doing this non-stop for the next six months. I expect you to be proficient at a decent level by the end of our training period. Beyond that, I don't know what else I could teach you."

As such, the training for today would be over after six hours. They started out early in the morning and now it was pretty late into the day, impressive. Ar'ekk and Cecilia would continue the same routine for the months to come with adjustments made here and there, the Jedi Knight pushing the apprentice to the edge of her abilities so she could really grasp Form II.

It was necessary. She would learn all of it, become proficient.

Effective.

Deadly, at some extent.
