Dev Thread Required?

If I want to acquire a sentient (or semi-sentient) crystal for the purpose of making a droid appear alive to Force users, would I need to do a dev thread?

To further answer your question. Lots of times if you ask yourself this question it's probably best to have a dev thread done always adds weight to your submission and shows the research and work you've put into it. Also the judges love when things are complete when submitted
