Dromund Kaas was eerily calm today. He didn't like it.

Well, not as calm as it could have been.

The humid feeling in the air still kept him on edge, and the assignment that he was on did little to alleviate that. The masked Acolyte's gaze swept over the entrance to the tomb, a small clearing in the jungle leading to the stone entrance. It was old of course, as almost everything was on the old Sith planet. Supposedly a holocron lay inside, just ripe for the taking. He perked up slightly as the holocommunicator that had been left there for them activated. A dark hooded figure came into view, their face hidden by their hood.

"You remember your orders? Plunder the tomb, find the holocron. This is a test of your skills and abilities, failure will result in...dire consequences. You have three hours." With that the hologram disappeared and the communication was ended. He resisted the urge to scoff. Those academy Sith are full of themselves aren't they? He much preferred to do his education and training on the battlefield, but then again that was mostly out of necessity. His master hadn't deigned to enroll him in an academy, he just liked to pop in to assist his fellow Acolytes. Alisteri rolled his shoulders and took a moment to stretch and mentally prepare himself for the task ahead.

He glanced over at his fellow Acolyte and gestured to the tomb's entrance. "So, ready to plunge into the depths of some unknown Sith tomb and possibly die?"

‘Steel yourself with hatred, and my words can never again wound you, and arm yourself with anger and your future will forever be brighten by its crimson flame.’

The words of the Sith Overseer echoed in his head, as the young Sith acolyte took in the humid jungle of Dromund Kaas made it seem a bit hotter than what the temperature actually were, already beads of sweat started to drip from Deshharr’s forehead, down his chin, and spatter onto the soil below them. Deshharr was not nervous to say, or well, the sweat was not the direct result of nervousness but merely bad genetics. The young acolyte had taken whatever weaponry and armory he could find within the academy’s barracks, unfortunately, Deshharr could not find much. For now, he wore simple black pants, tunic, boots, gloves, and of course a casual black cloak that draped over his shoulders- he did not posses a weapon yet and had to utilize a vibrosaber which was strapped to his thigh.

“Yes Overseer” Deshharr stated coldly his voice laced with bitterness as he hid the holo-communicator into an easily accessible pocket. The two acolytes were tasked with delving into an ancient ruin and attaining the holocron that laid within, they were supposed to return it directly to the Overseer but, Deshharr was plotting to take his time with the holocron so that he could study it a bit before giving it to the Overseer and his grubby hands. Deshharr’s melancholy-stricken eyes carefully explored the cruel stone that had been twisted into a dark, but ruined, temple of the dark side. He shivered as a cold chill zipped down his spine at the thought of what the cruel temple could contain, and the cruel rituals that were executed within its dark halls.

“I suppose the trick is not to die, shouldn’t be hard, I guess that is what we both have been doing since the indoctrination into the Sith academy.” Deshharr jested, honestly, he felt that the only thing he had been doing within the academy was surviving and pushing through the harsh trials and lessons conducted by the Overseers. He assumed that the other acolyte had a similar experience as him, seeing as the Sith seemed to have love placing their students through pain and suffering. “The honors go to you my friend.” He gestured for the other acolyte to enter into the temple first.

The dark entrance betrayed little of what lay beyond, other than a cold and sinister feeling that seemed to accompany most old Sith structures. By now he had done his fair share of exploring and fighting through tombs, temples, and the like, but one never really knew what lay inside until they went in. Until then it was all guesswork really, and he had little taste for that.

Better to rip off the bandage so to speak and delve inside.

A small chuckle escaped him at the jest and he lightly shook his head. "If only." He had spent some time around an academy or two, and knew a handful of other Acolytes that told him stories of the place. He didn't see the point in all the trials and indoctrination himself, not with the war raging on anyway. What better way to ensure skill and loyalty to the Sith than have the Acolytes fight for their very Empire? He supposed that they did wind up producing more skilled Acolytes in the long term though, if he was any comparison, so they may have had something going for them in that regard.

"Ah I am honored, it's not often I get to go in front." Alisteri offered the other Sith a respectful nod and stepped forward, the feeling of dread that the entrance gave off seeming to amplify with each step. It didn't seem to want visitors, but it had little choice in the matter. They had a holocron to retrieve, and Force help whatever got in their way.

The planet only helped the atmosphere of it all, the already dim light of the day turning a bit darker as a thick cloud passed over the sun. It all gave him a bad feeling, but he was undeterred. By the time he had arrived before the dark gap in the stone, he had already pulled the hilt of his lightsaber from his belt as a precaution.

The tomb answered back to the challenge.

A sudden gust of wind blew from the entrance and was strong enough to push him back a few steps before he regained his footing. Great, it's temperamental... The masked man sighed and idly cracked his knuckles. "Alright then." A simple 'follow' gesture was the only thing he gave the other Acolyte before springing forward and rushing straight into the crevice of an entrance.

The dark hall carved into the rock was narrow, just wide enough for one person to walk through. Of course, their shoulders would be bumping the walls with each step though. "Whatever's in here is not very happy." The echo after his words served a small measure of the length of the hall before him, it would be a decent little trek evidently.

In Deshharr’s opinion, the academy was an unfortunate necessity for those who were new to the Sith world and needed a rough hand to guide those fresh minds. Granted, Deshharr himself did not enjoy his time in the academy, and for some reason felt like there was something within the academy that held him back. Although currently, the young acolyte reasoned that the mysterious force holding him back was him. The overseers informed him that this compassion, had weaken him and held him back from his true potential. But something sickened his stomach, and pulled at his ear, forever leaving the feeling that he was missing some sort of greater picture. Even now, with the cold ominous temple breathing foul air from its mouth, Deshharr could not help that feeling that something was unaccounted for, then again, perhaps it was the temple’s cruel magic sowing doubt and unease within his mind that created this feeling of something gone astray within the young acolyte's life.

The other acolyte spoke about how honored he was to go first, Deshharr cocked an eyebrow upward as he tried to detect any form of sarcasm within the other’s voice. Honored? Deshharr thought that was rather funny, seeing as the only reason why he allowed his ‘friend’ to go first would be to simply test the waters. If something were to happen to the other acolyte, then well, Deshharr would know that he was foolish to think that he could enter into the temple and sacrifice the acolyte in order to get a head start at saving his own life. But then again, that would be dishonorable, and his father had raised him to be an honorable man. Conflict stirred momentarily in Deshharr, he chewed on his lips, until at last he pushed himself to immediately follow the other acolyte into the temple seemingly without hesitation.

A gust of wind wailed from the entrance, Deshharr brought his arm over his eyes to shield him from any dust or debris that the gust carried. The dark hall curved into rock was narrow, too narrow for the acolytes to enter side by side, for that reason, Deshharr had to follow the other directly behind him, with his shoulders bumping and scrapping against the wall. He had made the mistake of not drawing his vibroblade from the sheathe, and as he pushed through the narrow entrance of the temple with the acolyte the sheathe got caught on a rock protruding from the wall. Deshharr pulled in frustration, which tore the sheathe and weapon from his belt, and with a loud thud the vibroblade dropped onto the floor.

The epicanthix acolyte cursed under his breath. “That would be an understatement, hold on for a second.” He stated as he leaned down to pick up his weapon.

Of the few things that inspired or brought forth fear in the masked Acolyte, surprisingly tight spaces in dark Sith tombs weren't among them. The atmosphere in them was almost always the same, a vague feeling of dread and danger the closer one got to the prize hidden within. By now he held little genuine fear of such places anymore, he had seen the wrath of living Sith that far outmatched anything the dead ones had thrown his way thus far. Well, for now anyway.

His confidence did little to assuage his basic worries of course, as the tomb was by no means harmless. It had already proved to be active and an obstacle, and they had barely gotten inside. He could only guess at what would block their path as they went forward. If there was any one feature that each and every Sith tomb, temple, and whatever else shared then it was danger. Said danger was the main reason that he had no qualms with going first ahead of his fellow Acolyte. Training was useful of course, that could not be understated, but when dealing with Sith tombs experience was just as valuable if not more so. Besides, he happened to be a decent bit more durable and could regrow whatever he lost should the need arise. Sangnir for the win...

Although he had mixed feelings about being in such an enclosed area, mostly due to the fact that it would be difficult to effectively raise and use his lightsaber with such limited room to move his arms, he was thankful that he didn't have to actually crawl or squeeze through the entrance all that much. He would take whatever silver lining he could find.

Alisteri's focus on moving forward and watching for activity ahead was interrupted by a loud thud however. The masked man couldn't turn to properly look back at the other Sith, but the sound combined with his words brought a small sigh from him. "Please don't tell me you dropped something too useful, or at the very least if it was then it's easy to get back." Normally he would help but there simply was no turning around at the moment, plus he was distracted whenever he heard something off in the distance ahead of them move. It was a loud noise, resembling the sound of stone moving across stone slowly.

Oh what now?

A moment of frantic fumbling later and he had brought his weapon out in front of him, not activated yet of course, in a defensive manner. Or, as well as he could manage such a thing given the tight space. "Pick it up now-GET DOWN!" Out of the darkness a glint appeared, and it took him only a moment to realize that it was approaching quick. With one swift movement he had ducked down as best he could, a flying dagger passing right over his head and shearing just a little bit into the top fabric of his hood as it went over.

"Fething traps."
