Desert Sand & Power Plays (Fringe Dominion of Sabarene)

She grinned up at her employee, an expression without mirth but with a hint of malice, and tasted blood on her teeth.
Her mind wrapped around the weapon she'd created, the weapon in his hand.

"Try to pull the trigger. I guarantee you don't have a fraction of the strength."

Khal winked and removed the barrel. He hadn't been really expecting to win this fight, so it wasn't all that bad.

'Can't blame a guy for trying.'

Then he rolled off of her and attempted to stand up, which failed rather miserably with his legs paralyzed (which was a good thing, because otherwise he would have been screaming right about now, melted skin ain't a fun thing.)

With a sigh he seized his attempts and caught Rave's eye, raising his brow.

Rave picked herself up and surveyed the damage. The tikulini singlet was irreparable, after several shots with a sig-gas-powered heavy blaster, and at least one rib was broken. Her head ached furiously. All in all, a good fight.

"If this is what sports are like, Malvern, maybe I should be social more often." She rested the bokken on her shoulder with a pained grunt, and headed for the exit. "See you at work."

Marek had a bit of work ahead of him. Hopefully people would realize that his Master was a bit off his rocker and would still allow him to do work here. Besides [member="Manu Xextos"] was a bro. Sure, he didn't understand how the ancient Master did his thing (a lot of yoga?) but whatever, Marek respected the man.

And well, the man could make him money, and that was equally important. The world, Sabarene, or whatever seemed like a nice play to put a home (Foreshadow here, right? No way), even if he wasn't sure how the Fringe felt about Abrion. But still, a vacation away? That wouldn't be bad.

He'd have to check local surfing reports.

But first, the main event. He made his way up to the boxes, and knew he needed to found the Echani Master. He had a bit of a package to deliver. Casino, fight ring, gambling, gaming, betting, all the best of life. And he was expecting to see a few friends out here. Most of the big names he was friends with seemed to call the Fringe home.

Was that [member="Jared Ovmar"] over there? Right, focus Starchaser, business deal, then drinks with the boys.

Lucien flashed his invitation and stepped into the V.I.P box "Good morning captain [member="Livia Maddox"], yourself and his majesty Have done some nice work here" Lucien handed his coat to his leal servant and strolled to the edge of the box and looked out over the arena "How uncivilised" he sighed to himself before turning around to lean on the edge of the box. He was beginning to regret making the effort to wear morning wear, this was far from a polo match ... He really disliked blood sport.

Lucien's assistant handed him a glass of whisky and a data pad. Lucien took a sip of the whisky and glanced over the data pad. "You are dismissed, leave us" . the assistant left now he just needed to wait for the others to arrive, perhaps some of them might even be worth his time.

He thought on it a moment, tracing back to his own surveys and deliberations. The efforts with Sabarene and continuing onward had an inadvertent hand in accomplishing similar goals to what was being discussed here, and where he had been looking to, himself - the expansion of their borders around the capital.

"Your considerations are in line with my own," he gave in reply, "and thus it is easier to find them to be sound. Leaving aside the obvious current exposure of the capital, I have found the behaviour of our neighbours to the east to be... shall I say, perhaps a bit 'erratic' in recent times."

It seemed that he might frown, or grimace, but his lips stopped in the form of a line.

"That we were unaware of their move against Coruscant caused me a fair degree of concern. I do not like the feeling of being this deaf, Admiral."

She'd been milling about, the citizens and governors of this confederation still largely an unfamiliar entity to her. Little did she know that there were more familiar faces here than she thought, which was brought to her attention the moment she saw a face she hadn't seen since she had been working for him. [member="Marek Starchaser"] had been the second pillar of stability to her current life after [member="Token Waters"] (who was still very much a stable presence whether she was actually nearby or not), which was still building and building. So what did she do? Why, she went right up to him like it was normal and like they were old friends.

"Looking for something, or someone?" No 'hi', no 'it's been a while'. Dispense with the pleasantries, and get down to business. That had been the way things were for the most part, when they were working the same gig. "I might be able to help."

Only then did she follow his line of sight, spying [member="Jared Ovmar"] for herself. Well, how about that.

For whatever reason, he wasn't suspecting he'd run into none other than [member="Siyndacha Aerin"]. He knew she was taking her own route around the galaxy, and that was good for her. He couldn't expect her to remain doing droid stuff when even he wasn't. Funny how things worked, wasn't it? Sure, the nation he claimed as his own still had his loyalty, but there were so many other things that were bigger than that. The Force, the Hegemony, and making sure that people didn't judge him from the sins of the leaders before him.

Giving the blonde a smile, because, hell, she was a pretty woman, and an old friend, he smirked. "Maybe you can. Looking for the ones in charge of this shindig, have an offer and something to speak to them about. Seen Manu around?" Because Marek knew people. "New endeavors and moving out to this space." Either by business or residence.

Keeping an eye over on [member="Jared Ovmar"], Marek, actually gave his full attention to Sindy at that point. "How's life been treating you, Ms. Aerin?" See? He could be pleasant and not totally business focused.

Well, her Master did invite her. And she knew that the one and only [member="Siyndacha Aerin"], who's name was terrible to spell, and Token would never write a note to her girlfriend spelling out her full name, unless it was that level of important if she could help it, was here. So why not right? She didn't have to report to an exploration mission for at least a week. She had found a cute black dress that might look more appropriate at some sea-side getaway than at any formal event, but this was Token, the girl who wore over the ear headphones wherever she went.

Music was important to her. Looking about, she was hoping to run into [member="Manu Xextos"], and of course Sindy. And she was able to find the latter, blame it on the Force, or some bit of destiny, but she was talking to that Starchaser guy. Old boss, right, she was going to steer clear of that for now.

Who else could she give attention to and tackle and chat their ear off?

"Manu?" she said, not in query like she didn't know who the man was (she did, quite well, actually), but more that... where was he? Even she hadn't been to see him since she'd arrived planetside, but she could hazard a rather educated guess. After a moment, she returned [member="Marek Starchaser"]'s smile in kind. "I've not seen him since I came down, but..."

She glanced upward, blinked, then looked back to her old friend again.

"...best bet is probably the royal box, unless he's found some reason to wander. As for how I'm doing?"

She pursed her lips. The fact that she even had to think about what she could say was something.

"Life's been okay," and that was how she finally settled, "the Sy'vato Fleet has been good for me, and Token's doing alright."

Once more she glanced over at Ovmar, and in doing so, cursed herself inwardly. Any strong Lorrdian would be able to see right through her in that moment. The half-Echani looked back to Starchaster, and her smile became pleasant as she turned towards the way up.

"Why don't we go find Manu, and you can tell me about what you've been up to, on the way?"

Sabarene wasn't exactly Jorus' favorite stomping ground. Most of his exploration had taken place on the other side of the galaxy; most of his Rebel activities on this side of the galaxy had been confined to the Neutral Zone. He'd come up this way once or twice, though; he'd discovered Charal, for one. He'd been dropping by to check whether Jacobs had wrecked the place. Sabarene was just another stop, not for Fringe opposition purposes but to check out the route the Republic had used when they'd come here the long way. From space, on a previous trip, he'd glimpsed the precise scar of Daella Apparine's orbital bombardment, the one that had killed about three million Graug.

From space, he also caught the edges of a serious Fringe presence. The Bullet Time, not a ship they'd know, hovered at the edge of the system as his hypersensors analyzed the routes various forces had taken at various times. Sabarene, it seemed, was better connected than he'd thought.

Marek had his mission here. Really it was to get buzzed and have a good time, but there were a few things that he needed to do first. The Starchaser knew that @Siyndacaha Aerin was part of the Sy'Vato Fleet, and he wasn't going to fault that group for leaving when they did. It made sense. Others who left the government he didn't envy, so maybe that was why he had a little bit of favoritism. Still... That was neither here nor there.

“Yeah, I never thought to take a peak there.” Really, he was still getting his bearings. Funny, right? For a man who owned casinos which were designed to keep people in, he wasn't able to find his way through here yet.

As for Sindy looking at Ovmar, Marek noticed it a bit, but not really much. Besides, Jared was rad. Offering his arm to the woman, he nodded. “Sounds like a plan to me. And now? Well, Haor Chall has been roped under Santhe Corp, and I'm running a casino and resort company now.” Well, that and working in Neuro-Saav.

The Silkworm hypertransit package installed in the Bullet Time included a host of hyperspace sensors, gear that required special training to use properly -- and an awful lot of experience to use to its full potential. The Silkworm had been the Holdings' attempt to replicate and monetize Jorus, and he found the package's assorted features annoying but useful. The ability to technologically analyze hyperspace gave him a very clear mental picture, which in turn gave him a good solid start on doing, well, what he did. Eyes half-lidded, he hovered at the edge of the system, getting a feel for the ways the Force interacted with hyperspace, subspace, otherspace. This far out, even with those energy torps and Hellbore cannons that the Fringe liked so much, it'd be days at sublight before someone could interrupt him, but he still kept his realspace sensors up and half his attention on the readouts. He wasn't the only one who could microjump.
