Rogue squadron was formed up, waiting in the dark as the robotic Victory One drifted closer. Today was a pilot exercise as well as a show of force for the Citizens of the Galactic Alliance. A chance for the Rogues to show that they were still here and sharp as ever.

Each of them had a column of fightersof their choice.

Before them was a robotic crewed SD. Scenario? Disable it or destroy it. It was a live fire exercise too, which made it all the better. Well live fire for the Rogues, the ship in question was an old junker with only simulated lasers at low power. Enough to rattle a fighter, but not destroy it.

Karren was high up in orbit, reading her scopes as it drifted past. Her custom StealthX hovered, firing jets once or twice to stay in position. She was peering out of the viewport at the jungle world below.

"Ready Paladin?" Her wingman, Tarnor asked. He was a Verpine, new to the GA Starfighter Corp. They always got excited to fly a mission with the best.

"Yep, waiting on the other wings to check in. Stay tight boys. Soon as they make their attack run, we'll be heading in from behind to disable her engines. Might be a heavy fighter compliment too."

What most of them didn't know, was that GA command had thrown a loop in this exercise. Two more craft were on standbye, ready to jump and simulate a SNAFU.

Train as you fight they'd said.

"Paladin to Rogue Squadron, my Column is ready. You guys good down there?"

Jax was feeling giddy. He could feel his heart beating at the approximate rate, trying to keep the adrenaline coursing through his veins at an even pace.

Control, control...

He needed to keep it together. It was only a live fire excercise but if anything went amiss then he could mess it up for the rest of his teammates. Starfighter pilots in the rebel alliance relied on one another always, there was no excuse nor the need for an actual rogue situation. Peering to both sides he caught the outlines of sleek incom TR-20 X-wings slip into view with a far more challenging control panel in comparison to the standard T-65's he had flown during his time in Red Squadron. Jax had already gotten a full glimpse of what Harunn Kal looked like when he was stationed there but he never truly admired it's breathtaking sight from orbit which took the appearance of a golden spectacle with specks of aquatic blue to show it's oceanic view. "Six here, everything checks out." Jax reported in as his gloved hands tensed around the flight stick, scanning the empty space ahead of his starfighter.

Wedge blinked and flipped up the polarized visor. He ran his fingers over the instruments, touching them. It did nothing but reassured him of the craft's reliability. Of his own reliability. He rolled his shoulders and looked upwards at the pictures taped to his X-wing's interior. Pictures of planets he'd been on. Fun times with the Rogues. Things that kept him grounded, kept him focused.

The things that he fought for kept him alive.

Wedge tapped his throat, and his comm unit came online. He rolled his wing to be next to [member="Karren Trask"], at a slightly downward angle.

"Rogue Ten- all set."

Decker had caught wind of the training exercise, and it was something that he and the rest of Mynock Squadron would no doubt need. They had been doing small things, small escort and such. Most stuff that was not much heard of. Nothing big. However, Decker Willo believed that this would be the gateway to bigger operations. It wasn't the fact that they hadn't been asked, it was more that after the last operation they went through, it hit Decker harder than he ever thought he could. Now, he wanted to push that aside, get the blood pumping again. For him, and his squad. Even though it was live fire, it was the closest to a battle he wanted to get to.

He, along with the rest of Mynock pulled in from hyperspace. A fair distance away from what was going down, and he sent out a transmission to anyone of the squadron already here. "Mynock here, hope we aren't interruptin' anything here." He signaled for the rest of Mynock to move in, at least to a suitable range from the others already there.

Jax silently acknowledged Wedge's voice over the comm with a sense of relief. Voices slowly flooded the comm unit but it was all just waiting for instructions at this point so he only had the brooding silence of space and occasionly the chirping sounds of his astrometch droid to accompany in which he complied to with small banter of annoyance. After being in the simulators for quite sometime this was the closet thing to an actual mission even though it would surely determine his skills in the future wether or not he was capable. He had gotten aquainted with most members but he still did not share a bond with others much like his time during Red Squadron and only time would truly tell if he would make the cut or wipe out like several other rookies before him that probably thought they had a chance.

"Nice of you guys to join us." Jax spoke up with hints of bemusement in tone hearing the voice of [member="Decker Willo"] over the comm but shook it off with his natural self-assured demenor as he took formation alongside [member="Wedge Draav"] and [member="Karren Trask"], they were all on the same side here. Jax was maybe just a little too assured that this whole training excercise was going to be a whirlwind of fun.

Karren grinned, feeling that familiar rush as the comms lit up. Ten and Six were here. And Mynock had just showed up. She recognized that voice as Willo. A kid she'd met in a hangar recently.
"Welcome to the fun Mynock. Fly sister squadron on our left. Six and ten stand bye. Second Column prep to engage."

Karren clicked her comms twice, giving the all clear signal to the nearby command ship that was overseeing the exercise.
"All Squadrons, you are clear to engage. Target designated FO Vengeance, coming in to Base Delta Zero our bases."
"Copy command."

She switched channels and fed the info through to the rest of their targeting computers.

"All flights standbye for attack run. Rogues high, Mynock low....launch!"

Karren dialed back her inertial compensator to seventy percent. She loved to fly by the seat of her pants feeling the G Forces of every turn. she felt more in tune with her fighter that way. Then she gunned it streaking down from on high. Her own StealthX was modded by Jorus with afterburners which allowed her to come out far ahead of the pack.

She was a scout and what they called the Rabbit. The one that drew out their point defenses.

And they went off, simulated flak shredding into the space between them. Two of her wings went red on her pannel.

"R8, you got me!"

"Dweep!"

"All squadrons, watch those point defences. Heavy flak on the ventral side, keep low to the hull and strip off her laser cannons!"

She pressed full throttle, easing her way so there was mere inches between hulls, her Column of fighters and hopefully wing mate following her.

"Ten, Six loosen up the formation. Pick and engage at will."
