Delivery for Mr. Lee (CIS, BTI)

[member="Cade Lee"]

A plain looking man, short with brown hair and brown eyes, unremarkable entirely, stood looking through the window at BlasTech Industry's headquarters.

"Excuse me, are you the delivery man?"

The plain fellow smiled demurely and nodded his head at the secretary's question. He gave her the once over. Attractive, young, likely quick on her feet, and female. In other words, the stereotypical secretary.

"Yes."

"What exactly are you here for?"

He smiled demurely. "Well, Ma'am, is this Mr. Cade Lee's place of business?"

The secretary's brows rose incredulously. "Considering he owns it... yes."

"Excellent, can you point me to his office?"

"I'm afraid we can't just let anyone-"

"Very well," the man said, sighing, he withdrew a folded paper from his suit jacket and handed it to the woman. She took it, frowning as she read the title. Subpoena ad testificandum. In other words, orders to appear before the Confederacy of Independent Systems courts or face the penalty. Charges of intellectual property theft and patent infringement. Czerka Arms via Beau Legal Firm vs BlasTech Industries.

"He's been served."

Cade could see the man on the camera in his office, but the smile never left his mouth.

"Let him in, I want him to do this personally."

The grin never left his face, Czerka wasn't a company owned by one nation. Their owner had gone the way of the dodo, so why he was he being served?

The plain looking man raised an eyebrow, then the secretary led him into Mr. Lee's office. Her expression was tight. Closed. He'd seen that a lot, been in this business a long while. He looked the dark haired man with the bifocals over once, then handed him the papers.

"I believe you've already heard it once, but I rarely get tired of saying it... you've been served."

The CEO merely looked at the man the way a predator viewed it's prey, that smile never going away even as his eyes narrowed.

"Under what court have I been summoned considering this is a galactic spanning company that has failed to fulfill it's obligations? I've broken up a power company while servicing all nations capably. So unless you have a good reason to be here, I'll have you locked up."

"I am a servant of the CIS courts," replied the unremarkable fellow, "As for the other stuff, I don't know. I'm just the delivery guy."

Then he turned around and walked toward the door.

This was not Gabriel Beau. No, he'd be seeing Cade Lee later on.... in court.

"Well thank you Mr. Beau, I'll see you then."

Cade took the paper and sent it to his legal department. Then after that he penned a message to all departments that were still in CIS space.

Dear all,
It appears we will be closing down all facilities within the borders of the CIS. Effective immediately all data will be cleared in all servers, and all products shipped immediately to more friendly nations. After that, all facilities will be destroyed if a deal can't be reached.
Cade Lee, CEO.
Within moments Blas-Tech got to work, and within a day it was done.

Gabriel Beau, head of the primarily Jedi-law oriented legal firm, was dipping his toes into uncharted waters by taking on Czerka Arms and their subsidiaries as a client. The green-eyed Zelosian adjusted his tie as he read the letter from Mr. Lee to the CIS.

"Well, this sets us back. Still, we can file an injunction in the courts. Make him unable to sell the stolen tech in CIS space. But I think it's time to go to stage two."

Beau typed up a reply to [member="Cade Lee"] on his datapad.

"Mr. Lee,

I represent the legal firm for Czerka Arms. It has come to my attention that your recent line of 5.56mm Bang, Venom, and Shock slugs appear to be exact copies that are claimed in my client's patent, which is enclosed. You are to cease and desist the production and sale of all such items immediately as it is an infringement not only on my client's patents but on intellectual property and appears to be unethical and purposeful corporate sabotage.

We would like to resolve this affably, however if we do not receive written compliance within the next day we will be pursuing legal action. Including taking this to the Mandalorian Courts.

[member="Gabriel Beau"]'s message came through as he was flying in the Sion towards another mission that had nothing to do with business. He didn't even have his glasses or ring on at the moment, but he nonetheless had to take the time to review it. So you intend to try and get me to cease and desist? Rage burned in the pit of his stomach for a while before a lesson he had learned from someone else came to mind. "Jacen, take your enemies and make them your allies. Use your means, and bring them to your cause." Another grumble of rage came to mind as he remembered Tirdarius and how much he loathed the man. A calming breath escaped his lips, and he allowed himself to relax long enough to formulate a plan. He soon pulled up a few various bank accounts and examined them before deciding to use them to solve his latest problem.

Money fixed everything after all, and with that in mind he formed a letter.
Mr. Beau,
I'd like to come to an arrangement, rather than a settlement. I see no reason that this should go to the courts when Czerka is clearly on it's last breath and my company only continues to grow. So why don't we take all this energy and legal acumen you possess and push it towards the more noble cause of buying all the trademarks for all these weapons while protecting what I have already built further? Do this for me while sueing Czerka into bankruptcy would be the ideal outcome, and I'd be more than happy to compensate you for triple what they were wanting to pay you. I look forward to hearing back from you.

The soft-spoken lawyer stared at the letter for a full thirty minutes, green eyes intense. He contemplated the concept of working for BlasTech. True, Czerka was a dying corporation and true, BlasTech was only expanding its operations. Even if he managed to halt their operations in CIS and Mandalorian space they would continue to sell elsewhere, expanding. And with the new line of slugthrowers that were more or less identical copies of Czerka Arms' original product... well, there would be no competition. A complete monopoly on the small arms industry. Yes, that did sound appealing.

However, the payout of a settlement between BTI and Czerka in the Mandalorian Courts would likely be in the hundreds of billions as both companies were worth a ludicrous amount of money. And the infringement itself was rather egregious and blatant. The case would be open and shut, as they say. Even so, Lee would be able to drag his heels and draw out the proceedings over a year or more. The idea of having money up front and a permanent position in one of the largest corporations in the galaxy was... appealing.

"Mr. Lee

Your arguments are compelling. I accept your offer of employment for my services on the following conditions. On the first, we both understand that you are a very wealthy man and one of the richest in the galaxy, therefore as I am sparing you a large and extremely expensive legal battle and helping to rid you of your primary competitor, and since betrayal has never been a cheap purchase, I require an annual salary of 10 million as in-house counsel.

On the second, in order to take on Czerka Arms and my former compatriots I will need a non-refundable retainer fee of 100 million which will be put in a special trust account and from which will be deducted the cost of services as they accrue.

On the third, as BlasTech Industries is an incredibly lucrative venture I propose a mutually beneficial arrangement wherein you create both a personal account for your own savings and a corporate account for BTI with Aurum-Saccs Bank, located on Muunilinst. I am enclosing the link for further information here. Simply create the accounts, deposit whatever you feel comfortable with and we will find ourselves both profiting from the results.

I look forward to hearing if you find these terms agreeable.

Sincerely,
Gabriel Beau, Attorney-at-Law."

[member="Gabriel Beau"]'s letter arrived promptly as their correspondence continued. Laying down his datapad that he had been using to figure out the math for his new lasers, he instead opened the message and read it's contents. His jaw never dropped, and his hands never wavered as he looked over what had been sent. Instead, he pulled up a few accounts and saw that what was being asked was rather reasonable. Looking where to cut some costs, because he wasn't going to give this man money that could have been used for profit. He instead found the folder he was looking for and completely emptied that account before enclosing all the information the man would need. Then he dragged and dropped it into the trashcan folder and watched as it was gone into the oblivion.

Donation Funds disappeared forever and he went to work on his own letter.

Mr. Beau,

I'll gladly pay your your yearly fee as well as your retainer. If you do manage to bury Czerka(which is why I'm hiring you) I'll pay you an extra thirty million credits for your trouble. I'd also like to extend some stock options your way, to get you further invested in the company. You'll also receive a starship allowance, just send me what you want I'll purchase it for you. As to your advice on where to bank, I'm opening two accounts over there as we speak. I look forward to your future correspondence and meeting you in the flesh soon.

Cade Lee, CEO Blas-Tech Industries

"Mr. Lee,

The arrangement is excellent. I'll be at the new headquarters tomorrow to go over the paperwork. I'm glad we managed to turn this into an advantage for both of us and I look forward to doing the same with you in the future.

Cordially,
-Gabriel Beau."
