Draco wasn't as nervous as Faith, but then again he had only been to Delaya once and though he understood the necessarily part it played in Alderaan's economy, he did not feel worried about the meeting with the governor. Delaya needed Alderaan just as much as Alderaan needed Delaya. Delaya lacked the security, luxuries, and technologies that Alderaan provided and for centuries had been a vassal to the monarchy of Alderaan. A few years under its own management during the time of the Republic's reign would not change public opinion too hastily.
"He won't like losing some of the power and autonomy he has recently enjoyed. But, I'm sure you will convince him that he needs us as much as we need him. Alderaan controls the security and trade through the system, his enterprises prosper better labelled as Alderaani, and you have a way of getting what you want." Draco grinned at her, his hand enveloping hers and squeezing gently to reassure her. She wouldn't use force, probably wouldn't even consider strong arming the governor with tariffs or embargoes even though both of those were available tools at her disposal. What she would be likely to use was the dangling of the carrot before the provincial governor to agree to her terms.
"Remember Alderaan Engineering and ArmaTech are both alligned with the Royal family. He could benefit greatly from adding those two very large corporate powers to his industry. His people suffer from pollution that Alderaan Engineering can clean up in a joint venture he and the royal house get to take credit for, increase his popularity with his citizens. Plus you can always offer him a title and land on Alderaan if you really want to." Not bad options, though that would still be considered a step down from his current place in the food chain. Faith just had to make it seem appetizing to accept the lessened authority for something else.
