  • Primary Source: Polemos (x), BL 15 MK I (x)
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Mass Driver Cannon
  • Size: Very Large
  • Weight: Very Heavy
  • Ammunition Type: Depleted Baradium Shells
  • Ammunition Capacity: Extremely Large
  • Effective Range: Long Range
  • Rate of Fire: Average
  • Stopping Power: Very High
  • Recoil: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The Deimos utilizes 381mm depleted baradium shells, with an animated metal sealant for its jacket.
  • An anti-ion mesh lines the shell beneath the animated metal sealant jacket.
  • Shells are typically packed with thermite, and all shells are packed with an electromagnetic exciter disk in the rear of the shell.
  • There are some shells that are packed with collapsium gas, and liquid baradium.
  • Ionization of the shell may be done by enabling the artillery unit’s ionization field.
  • There is an option to pack shells with ball bearings with the idea to create more shrapnel upon impact. [Ball Bearing]
  • Unique to the Deimos are its HESH rounds (High-Explosive, Squash Head) where the tip of the shell is tekonite over alusteel. These rounds are packed with detonite, thermite gel, and packets of null gas. These rounds have an electric detonator triggered by the kinetic impact of the round itself. Deimos’ HESH rounds are designed to aid boarding actions.
  • Encapsulated tibanna gas accompanied by baradium-impregnated detonite encased in a conductive shell, can also be packed into shells. [Plasma]
  • Thermite gel along with encased conflagrine-14 may also be packed into the shells, with g-20 glop grenade components. [Incendiary]
  • Fast track mounting and fire-link capable, built-in heuristic data processing for performance improvement.
  • Single target tracking, and automated lock-on/lead system.
  • Internal temperature check, automated fail-safe, and containment system.
  • Range-finder and built-in range sensors, automated warning for incoming fire.
  • Gauss/coil firing-mechanisms, electromagnetic rails.
  • Dedicated power generator with a crystal chamber matrix featuring boreas and energy crystals. Includes heatsinks, fans, and built-in cooling devices to prevent the cannon from overheating.
  • Remote exciter disk sensor system, remote detonation monitor, emergency detonation override system.
STRENGTHS
  • Impact: Like the Polemos, the Deimos is meant to hit hard and do damage over time with its 381mm shells and wear down an opponent's hull.
WEAKNESSES
  • Size: Unable to effectively track and fire upon starfighters, attack shuttles, and the like.
  • Range: Suited for long-range fighting, the gun isn’t effective for sustained close combat.
DESCRIPTION
As part of the “Avalonian” Project, Primo Victoria has continued to modernize its arsenal and help bridge the gap between the Mars and the Bellona type mass driver cannons. The Deimos is part of that bridge, Deimos is built to fire 381mm depleted baradium shells. The shells are coated with an animated metal sealant. Each shell is packed with an electromagnetic exciter disk.

Step for step, the Deimos is mostly on par with the Polemos. Everything from shell assembly to launch is the same, with the exception of the HESH. Unique to the Deimos is the High Explosive, Squash Head rounds. These rounds spread out on impact, this design was utilized to not only increase the area of effectiveness but to aid in boarding actions. Ideally, the HESH rounds are fired prior to boarding operations, essentially, softening the opponent’s hull for such actions.

Outside of this unique shell type, the Deimos maintains its other firing modes and shell types. Just like other Primo Victorian Artillery, shells are made exclusively for their guns. Often it is questioned if these artillery types can fire other shells, that is to say, shells created by other manufacturers and the answer is no. Each artillery project is a package bundle to include both shell and cannon.

The Deimos is expected to be available for potential buyers by late 863 ABY, after having its production schedule mirror the Polemos.
