Vattas was old, at least by human standards. 211 years, to be specific. And yet, he was still a padawan since 150 years ago. He was not particularly inept in either combat or studies, being a Hutt, which led Vattas to a theory of his own stagnant career in the Order: they forgot about him. At the beginning there was hesitation for many Masters to take up a Hutt apprentice, both fear of his kind’s lure toward the Dark Side and the fact that his immense size made practical lightsaber training rather awkward and unorthodox. Vattas quickly forgave the Order for these setbacks, understanding their hesitance, and instead took to many decades of self-study instead. His repulsorlift implants made him near-silent as he floated amidst the shelves of the archives, so few heard him. When he would go to train his lightsaber skills, he would always go when it was least busy in the halls in consideration of the traffic and obstacle his size might cause the smaller creatures, so few saw him. After a century, he had outlived most masters and padawans who had been around when he was first initiated, so nobody remembered him.
The Hutt was quite content meditating and training on his own, though the lack of practical experience had largely held back his furthering of his lightsaber skills and the lack of formal training made his force abilities quite underdeveloped. However, as far as the texts go, he had confidence few else in the order could match him.
Recently, though, Vattas came to the epiphany that he could not let himself continue to close himself off in the shelves. To do so is to deny his presence and abilities in support of the greater good, and thus such passivity was a lure to the Dark Side. Upon this, Vattas slithered out of his corner in the library and signed up for open-roster training classes, intent to re-connect with the personnel of the Order.
Arriving to the classroom, Vattas bowed his head down slightly, the doors made wide and tall enough for most sizeable species such as himself. From his low stance, Vattas floated in, his repulsorlifts plates maintaining his tail remained about 3 inches from the floor, and then rose up to his usual vertical height of 3 meters, though it took a few more seconds before all of his tail had made it inside as well.
Scanning his fellow occupants, he spied the teacher and two young girls. Well, they were all young in comparison, but relatively young for their species. The girls, he presumed, were padawans like Vattas due to their respectful distance from the male and their grouping up, as is usual for students to flock to students. With quick consideration, Vattas bowed to the teacher with no modesty withheld as either a Hutt and elder. “Greetings, Teacher.”
Then the Hutt moved toward the desks, positioning himself directly behind the two girls. There were two reasons for this placement, first was that he did not wish to become an obstacle for their learning by sitting in front of them and blocking their vision of the instructor. The second was that there was value in getting along with his fellow padawans. They were quite young, and the Hutt had been quite isolated over the years, so he wasn’t quite sure how intelligent these humanlets were yet, but theorized that, based on their youth and small brains, they may also be ignorant of the development of other species and may accept him as one of their own should he present himself as a youth. “How do you do, fellow kids?”

(OOC: Whoops, posted as my Writer account instead of my "Vattas the Hutt" character account. Will use Vattas from here on, just so there's no confusion.)
