Public Deep Black Sea: Treasures of the Krath

The Planeshift had caused so many problems. Problems of navigation and lost ships. Worlds disconnected from their former trade routes. Routes around the galaxy faltering. But for all the damage it had done, the changing of routes gifted the galaxy ancient secrets. New routes were blooming. The changing of worlds and suns created new gravity wells.

And with the wells, interference with secret treasure and research fleets have occurred. Starchaser Enterprises and Baobab Astrography have been mapping partial fleets entering real space. And as with any hunt, there is always competition.

Enter the region around Bakura. A partial Krath fleet entering real space. War vessels flanking a treasure galleon. The largest seen in recent weeks. Based on HoloNet News Sources, the smaller vessels have been full of various ancient technologies, Force artifacts, technology and Force blended items, precious metals and gems.

The Lahmu was the size of many Mon Calamari Star cruisers. Captained by a droid pilot the ship only had a set time before it calculated a new route away from the world.

As the plunderers enter real space, they're greeted by turbo laser fire, though it’s scattered and inaccurate. The salvagers have to act quickly, board one of the strong warships, or proceed for the galleon only to be lost to hyperspace should they fail to disable the hyperdrive.

Welcome to a weekend Treasure Hunt. An ancient Krath raiding fleet. Impossibly strong cruisers or an intricate, non Euclidean pathways with various treasures. Seek what you like, or test the fates and roll a d20 for an additional bonus.

Kaia Starchaser may not be the best warrior. But that was because her skills lay in exploration and using the Force to find what she needed. A Jedi Compass gifted from her father, that was found vault that was supposedly Luke Skywalker's. It was in the pocket of her jacket.

Her shuttle, the Wandering Star was moving quickly through the flak shots from the cruisers. She didn't expect so many people to have timed this right. But perhaps her family's main skill was not the galaxys most well kept secret. As she piloted, she fingered the bag hilt of her lightsaber.

A Warden of the Sky typically wasn't caught with one. But she knew the records of the Krath. And sure enough, her ships on board droid brain pointed out a platoon of war droids in the hangar. But using one of the air locks was out of the question.

Shields up, her shuttle landed and the ramp went down. As it did her lightsaber came on, blue blade in the smoke of her ships pressure equalizing.

Really there was only one thing to be done given the firepower at play.

Steered precisely by disaster-fuelled cult astrogation, an observatory of the Central Isopter hit realspace just long enough to jump off.

In full cultic regalia, Merion soared through hard vacuum and the.leaky old atmospheric field. The war droids' impending proximity became clear. He pedaled uselessly in midair and landed hard beside Kaia Starchaser Kaia Starchaser 's shuttle. She looked a little familiar. The droids were a more pressing concern.

Merion indulged. How many chances did you get to use a Lords of the Fringe Dukaggath Trophy Mauler in a free fire zone?

Crusher gears chugged. Flash-alchemized skull fragments blasted droid after droid in rapid succession.

Just another day in the office.

When word rang out through various communication channels that a treasure ship had emerged from hyperspace, Kole knew that he had to jump on that opportunity. The University of Coruscant, along with the planet's Museum of Galactic History, were always on the search for new artifacts to add to their collection. Now the man never liked stealing any of these pieces of history. They more often than not belonged to the rightful owner. However, when said owner was being threatened by pirates and had a very low chance of surviving, then that is where the historian stepped in.

His large craft, Fortune and Glory, was much too large to try and approach the treasure ship. So, Kole opted to test his luck with his personal transport ship The Ark. Lighter and more maneuverable, the man hoped that it would be enough to make is past the erratic laser fire. Angling the control yokes downward, he aimed for the open hangar bay.

It looked as if he was not the first one here. Landing with a harder thud than he would have liked, Kole quickly opened the side cargo door to find himself in the line of fire. Ducking back behind the door and removing his blaster pistol from the holster, he tried to come up with a better plan

It was time to keep moving. She knew the suit of the one who landed near her. Central Isopter. She thought they were called. Her father mentioned them vaguely in his writings. As a family of explorers, they’d been around and seen so many beings. It wasn’t as bad as finding a Holocron Eater, but it was better to just see them and keep on moving. But he was here, with what could only be some surplus Fringe weapon.

How long was it since that organization was gone? Had she even been there?

Heard the tale in her youth in the Levant Space. The foil to the Free Space, she figured.

Was that weapon performing an alchemization process? What… how did he even get it?

As a second ship landed, Kaia turned her attention from deflecting bolts.

“Good to have company… i think.”
She said. Drifter, her small probot flitted around, knowing he needed to download a map. The second the droid plugged in, he beeped back at Kaia.

Labyrinthine paths. “Just downloaded it. Can point out what we can find after!” She shouted as she spun her saber to send another bolt towards the door controls, narrowly missing.

She really should train with this thing more.

Peaking his head and blaster out from the door, Kole fired off another volley of shots.

The war droids were not letting up. The duo next to him, one of which being a Jedi, seemed to be doing much better than he was. His age was starting to show. But that would not stop him from trying to reach the treasure. Scorch marks started to decorate the side of his ship. Poor thing. Kole had to get out of here and find a way past those droids.

Turning back towards the two adventurers as well, he shouted out.

"You have any ideas on how to get out of this?"

Searching around the hangar bay, Kole looked for something, anything, that would lead them to safety and closer to what they were seeking.

"Fortunately, I'm a death cultist!"

A lot of people had died on this ship over the centuries; hell, right here in this hangar. Oh, maintenance droids had dragged the corpses away for matter reclamation or a brisk airlocking, but the psychic stains of all those deaths were clear if you knew how to look. And if you really knew death, you might be able to spot the places where people hadn't died. Where they'd hunkered down successfully. Where they'd managed to escape.

There was a low-historic-death zone off thattaway and, looking more closely in between Dukaggath Trophy Mauler skull reloads (he was admittedly running low on skulls), Merion recognized a maintenance hatch that otherwise blended in well with the wall.

He hustled that way and went inside. Nothing in there tried to kill him. He took the opportunity to call a dead droid's head to his hand and try loading it in; it was not successful. He had about one and a half skulls left, not a lot of firepower.

Kaia was more than wiling to work with some people. She preferred the ones of her persuasion. The ones that understood what needed to be done, people from the Fringe or Levantine, or Outer Rim Coalition spaces. Those who didn’t grow up rich and cushy in the Core. As a Starchaser, though, she was Corellian from birth, hello kettle, this is pot.

Still, she could side with the beltalowda as she was starborn, and born out in the deep black. Her lightsaber though, was clean and true, definitely a Core weapon, unlike the one being used by the death cultist. A Warden of the Sky, she was hoping to get away from the blade, but for now? It was the best bet to stay alive.

“Droid’s got the map.” She called. Giving a quick nod of her head, the black tresses of hair following, to Drifter. As the hangar quieted down, she extinguished her blade and looked to the others. If there were more droids, she’d need this saber, but if there were people? Perhaps the right hook could take them down.

Drifter came over to the gathered, as Kaia followed Merion and the droid projected the ship’s interior. Well, what it could find.

“That was the whole map?” Kaia asked as she rolled her eyes. Still approximate size and distance from their location to the control center and treasure vaults of this ship were there, just not what was in between.

“Where to?”

She was going to ignore the skull gun.

Having just added the lightweight head of a desiccated ancient corpse to partially refill the mauler, Merion stabbed the holo map with a gloved finger, right along what might be the central route between here and the vaults.

"Many, many people died right there. So either it's the worst place to go or, if the hazards got depleted, the best. I'm going to witness it. I'll head that way; come along if you like."

He did so.

The aging man somehow caught up to the duo after what seemed like an endless array of blaster bolts.

Peering over the death cultist's shoulder, he watched as he pointed at a hallway that led straight for the vaults. It seemed like the group's best bet. And plus, Kole did not want to accidently end up on the receiving end of the...skull gun? Fascinating. He made a mental note to study it later.

"Lead the way. We got to get to that vault one way or another."

So picking up his blaster pistol and an empty bag for transporting valuable treasures and history, the man followed.

"Would any of you happen to know where this ship originated from? I do not recognize its design."
