Effective Range: Personal
Rate of Fire: Semi-automatic (hard-sound shots), ongoing effect (omnidirectional projection, comprising second and third fire modes)
Special Features: The Deathrattle Hard-Sound Carbine has three firing modes:
  • Semi-automatic directional hard-sound gun
  • Omnidirectional weapons-grade projection, capable of bursting eardrums within 20 metres in an unenclosed space
  • Omnidirectional animal repellant projection, capable of warding hostile predators away within a radius of 20 metres in an unenclosed space
The Deathrattle often benefits from attaching a collapsible stock.

Strengths:
  • The Deathrattle combines several standard functions of sonic projection equipment into a single highly portable, highly effective weapon.
  • Certain young and unscrupulous Mandalorians have been known to jury-rig the third fire mode so as to make the Deathrattle into a functional, high-powered subwoofer.
Weaknesses:
  • Omnidirectional weapons-grade fire mode absolutely requires the user to wear comprehensive sonic protection gear and wear padded gloves to reduce bone conduction. Standard Mandalorian armour generally fills these requirements. Attempt to use the second fire mode without these precautions, and you will probably be out of the fight.
  • The Deathrattle is quite bulky; resist the temptation to use it as a pistol.
  • This weapon is extremely loud.
Description: The Deathrattle Hard-Sound Carbine combines the functions of a standard hard-sound gun, a standard omnidirectional weapons-grade sonic projector, and the sorts of sonic projectors that are used to keep predators at bay. Two of the three modes rank among the absolute best weapons for taking down Force-sensitives. Hard-sound guns can’t be blocked by lightsabres, but are excellent at shattering bones. Omnidirectional sonic projectors will put Masters on the ground, bleeding from various cranial orifices for a couple of minutes. Sonic weapons are just a joy.

The Deathrattle is also quite handy when camping or traveling in the wild. Its third fire mode, though inaudible to most sentients, projects a subsonic vibration that keeps most predators away. A single Deathrattle can protect a small camp with ease. Ideally, the weapon would be propped up on a bipod, hung from a tree, or carried by a sentry.
