I've been a bit away as I've been helping my uncle adjust to being a new father of two very small children. Apologies for not posting sooner, as well as any threads I might have with people and have not been posting in.
I pushed the coup forward for two big reasons. One, a great number of people asked me to do it, and two, because I needed a story conclusion for Mephirium. Either he lost and I could say he'd taken a darker path to destabilize the One Sith and stall the war from continuing as long as possible, or he won and shifted things to a more traditional imperial mindset, all while falling entirely to the dark side in the process.
I would like for Mephirium to end the Dark Lord and take his place, but I'm not going to be stubborn about it. I did a lot of work, and I want to thank the people that have already vouched for me in this thread, but what the faction as a whole wants is more important.
My plan, if Mephirium won, was to establish a council of FUs and NFU representatives from the military that would run things. Mephirium would take a similar position to the Emperor from SWTOR in the early days of his rule - letting the people on the Dark Council vote on decisions and only stepping in when things got out of hand.
We were going to offer the loyalists amnesty as I don't RP a particularly hateful Sith Lord. From an ic perspective, Mephirium respects loyalty and would recognize that those that stood against him and his allies were only doing what they felt was right. From thereon, so long as they worked for the good of the empire, their resistance would be forgiven on an official level.
Members of the council would control different parts of Sith space and be expected to work for the good of the empire as a whole. The Emperor would keep them all in check, and if one of them decided they didn't like the way things were run, could challenge that Emperor.
A bigger focus would have been set on NFUs and less on worship of the Dark Lord and his underlings. We talked about establishing a Moff Council alongside the Dark Council that, IE: every Sith Lord on the Council has a Moff counterpart that helps them enforce Imperial law in their section of space.
Those were what I was hoping to achieve if Mephirium actually won. I was going to have him and his allies duke it out with the Dark Lord (and whoever writes him) in the next few posts. However, I'm entirely open to working with another way of going about things.
Those were our plans, at the very least. If people don't like it, that's perfectly fine, I was just putting it forward.
On the topic of the us vs them mentality - I don't understand it at all. Everyone I spoke to from the start of the thread up until very recently was having a blast with it. People came to me saying it was a mess and that folks were having a terrible time with it just a few days ago, and with it came these threats of people leaving the faction.
If you want to leave because of the thread, that's your prerogative, but I'd like to know why. If it solely IC, then I get it. If it's an ooc thing, I would like to know, as then there's an actual problem and problems need fixing.
There's my two cents. Back to work I go.
