Day off (Open; Annaj)

A cup of tea clanked slightly as it was placed on a small circle table. A woman was engrossed in a datapad reading and catching up on one of her favorite holoweb comics. It was an odd tale of a young padawan who wandered off into the dark world of the Sith, there she found a Sith Lord who seemed to be a Jedi in disguise sent to the underbelly of the Sith to figure out how to destroy them. The tale was about love, loss and the struggle of mortality. The dance between light and dark played out through the young padawan’s life who at this time now that Spencer had caught up, the girl was a master. Putting the data pad down she took a glance over the small café.

Annaj was beautiful even if it was a planet covered by fog. Reaching over she took a sip of the tea and then returned back towards her data pad which just updated the comic. Making sure she didn’t drop her tea in excitement, she placed the cup down and picked up the data pad.

Today was a wonderful day, a day off possibly. Snuggling up into her chair she continued to read the comic and enjoy her tea.

Annaj was capital of the Fringe, by its definition it was where the fringe of the galaxy resided. The criminals, Jedi, Sith and others not wanting to be under the more…restricted…governments of the core.

Thus, it was perfect for Kalinai Soluza, captain of the Flying Pineapple and all-around woman of mystery and action. She liked to think so anyway!

So into the café she wandered, idly playing with her pet rock Rocky XXVIII.
“Ho, landlord, a pint of tea!” she ordered the bemused server. She ladled out credits until she had enough, then waited.
Looking around, her eyes settled on Spencer. She didn’t know her…well except in some sort of weird alternate reality history thing…but she had an idea. She whispered orders to the waitress and made preparations.

A moment later the waitress approached [member="Spencer Jacobs"]' table. “I’m sorry, ma’am, but that woman over there asked me to give this to you,” she said, clearly bemused.
She offered Spencer a small wooden box wrapped with a horrible pink bow.

Inside it, if the Master of the Force opened it, was a lightsabre crystal, red as the plains of Korriban, and a note.
The note was hurried and messy, having been written there and then.
“Hi! Do u want ths?! Kally”

The pirate offered a cheery wave to her fellow blonde. Perhaps she had a reason, or perhaps she was just good at being mystifyingly confusing. At least she wasn’t a space elf. Probably.

What more was there to say than that which was simple. It was the Outer Rim, the Unknown Regions and she felt right at home in the darkness beyond which any shining light of government or the galaxy would reach. Of course she didn't feel as though she should remain too long, as the whispers continued to call her towards something further from this place. For now though she had some time to relax and enjoy herself in her own way. With as little attention she could, she slipped into the small cafe, always finding such places as odd. Then again she had spent much of her earlier years in a forest of darkness and had little in the means of interaction with others in such a setting.

It was her nature to find the dark corner of the cafe, shying away from the more brightly colored tables, far from the glass that looked out onto the streets. Her fingers tapped against the table as he waited before some waitress managed to muster the courage to approach the woman. It could have been how she had so silently slipped into the back corner, or the mere appearance of her attire, though the Dark Lady knew that she would put some beings off with her own appearance. Then again she didn't mind, and often found it flattering to herself to see how many she could cause to second guess themselves before approaching.

A simple order of tea, though it seemed all they had, was more than enough to quench whatever thirst might have grown within her figure. The Dark Lady quietly kept to herself only to begin one of her many hobbies, that of people watching. She noticed the bubbly blonde and her pet rock, as well as the quiet reader. Her eyes shifting over the other few patrons in the cafe as she remained blended in the dark of the corner.

Gavin was dressed in his fringe naval uniform with his rank on the collar. His expert marksmanship badges and flight wings rested on his left chest above his pocket. Basically he wasn't he usual fun loving self he was here on business.

"Excuse me Master Jacobs and women I have never met before." He said before turning to Circe or whatever her name was. "I'm afraid I'm under orders to escort you to the starport and have you removed from Fringe space you are currently under ban. Please don't make this difficult."

Gavin rested a hand on his blaster pistol and nodded slightly toward a waiting escort of troops and the ever waiting door.

There was an audible click as Hannibal flipped the safety off on his CZ-840 Combat shotgun, currently loaded with VENOM slugs. He walked forward, taking up position just beside his more lightly armed comrade, Gavin. As dictated by the laws of convenience, Hannibal had been part of the small escort of soldiers sent to remind Circe of its exile. If she wanted to argue with the second, slightly less mystical Ovmar, she would be held accountable for wasting Hannibal's time. People who wasted Hannibal's time often became more acquainted with the ammo of his shotgun than they wanted to be.

Visored eyes settled on the mobile turret the creature had brought with it. Not only was she violating her exile, but parading around weapons of war? That didn't settle well with Hannibal. What else did she think was okay to bring here? How had she gotten past customs, much less customs with a freaking battle droid?

"'an switch off th' battle droid, 'for I does it for ya."

Waltzin' through the door of this fine establishment at the back of the 'escort' troops who should I spy with my little eye but one of the Fringe's most wanted? First we got rid of Zaiden with that business at JAC, now this she-bantha shows up haulin' herself and her droids all over town right smack dab on our capital planet. Might as well put a bow on it and say happy freakin' birthday.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the ficus reborn," I muttered, moving over to stand on the other side of Ovmar, opposite my buddy Oryen.

The BTI-Ripper blaster pistol in my hands didn't really need the power levels checked, but I made a show of doing it anyways. You know, for safety reasons.

"What's the goin' rate on a Circe-sized bounty these days anyway?"

OOC: previous post found above has been edited.

I walked into this fine establishment and looked around. Lots o' familiar faces. Time to get a cup o' caf I think.

Come to the Fringe, they said. Nice place for a short break, they said. Annaj is nice, and there's a great cafe where you can get the most delicous tarts. No really, go.

"Stupid Fringe," she muttered to herself as the scene unfolded at the table next to hers. Turning, she looked at the woman, then at all the men drawing weapons. "Seriously boys, is all of that really necessary? How about everyone puts their manly compensators away and you start with asking politely?" Edison normally would have just stayed out of it, but the sudden threat of violence coupled with her own oncoming headache and a dislike of public bullying made her speak out.

I rolled my eyes and exhaled, breath possibly laden with my morning alcohol intake.

"That's cute. How about you turn back around and let the grown ups handle this."

Gavin turned to the woman who spoke up. He didn't like the situation anymore than she did but the laws of the fringe were in place and one couldn't pick and choose which laws they wanted to obey without knowing there would be consequences.

"I apologize for the disruption again but the lady here was declared a public enemy by the fringe high council." Gavin said by way of explanation, "my choices are a peaceful escort or forcible removal. This is out of my hands. If need be I will call in the high lord of Annaj and he can confirm this is not a matter of whim on oir part. Laws are in place and she is in violation."

Gavin looked to [member="Enigma"]

"The only I can do is ask for the council to review your case but either way you'll have to come with me."

All this flying in ships still so new to her. It wasn't like she had innocents around her just this new to her was all. It was a strangeness that the Gods and Godness would had hand in this worlds creation. It had the fog of like her own world, but different. To hot for her own taste. It was a strange place this c..a..fff..ee. thinking that a strange name to name brewing house.

As she step into the place everything to her be expired. In her leather and furs knowing she was out of place. It seem strange where she had been these last few months not knowing how to get back to her own people. In a way she was one to dare take a risk in adventure. Knowing know that all these vision that been in her mind coming true. To the one of the dark figure that had burn everything she ever own to a crisp.

It was this gift of herself wanting to explored, wondering if she would be giving another vision of one that also shared in this gift. Place she went to stare at all with her eyes upon those given to look back upon her. All she had on her was knifes her bow that had remade by her own hand. To those around would see her as someone from a stone age. "Yes good lady, I would like some of that dark brew that all seem to be enjoying"

Finding herself a seat as she waited. "Yes, I have trade for this.", as she pulled from her leather pouch a bit of copper. Laying it on the table. Not waiting as her thirst drove her. Only to cause her to sip out the liquid. "Good lady, I feel you have wrong me...this isn't ale. Its has a bitter taste I do not like, good lady...I want something more to my liking."
With that she knocked off the cup which the hot dark coffee was in.

As the Barbarian Queen entered the café, Kalinai thought things couldn’t get any weirder. She’d already seen a woman enter with a droid, only to be confronted by magically teleporting people with weapons and mean intent. It was all rather confusing.

Still, the woman in furs was rather interesting, especially as she was talking like someone with either a comically bad accent, or badly out of place.
So, whilst she waited for the other blonde to answer her offer she wandered over to the noble savage.

“Ale, huh? Don’t think they got much of that here. But I do have…this!” Kalinai rummaged in her pocket, unearthing mysterious and bizarre items like an apple core, a piece of chalk, an onion. Finally, she produced a small flask.
“Now, of course, I don’t drink ardent spirits myself, but I’ve been told this is very strong. Hmm, I got it from the Empress of Corellia!”

She paid off the bemused bartender with some credits and took her pint of tea. Quite how she could possibly drink a pint of tea was anyone’s guess.

After the voice drifted to her ears look up upon the lady of golden blood. It reminder her of her people back on her planet. It was rare that ones have such a fire red hair.
"I would ask good lady for mead, that's something I dare to say will not touch thee lips again.", looking down at the mess that made feeling embarrassment coming upon her cheeks to make them rose red against her pale white skin.

Titling her head a bit with one of puzzlement along with amusement. At first her own eyes looking at the small flask. "Oh this is a what one places drinks in.", taking it out of the lady hand. "I fair that I don't understand such a bottle of this nature.", it wasn't like the skin or wooden barrels that the mead came in. "I thank thee..Miss..." not knowing this lady of golden crown of hair.

"Do you know where I can get some of those shinny things that one trade in.", as look upon the pint of tea. "Does all drink here in this place.", waving her one hand around. "Taste so bitter,.... If thee care to give this one your name...I may give mine to.."

Silently she rapped her fingers upon the table, her nails clicking in rhythm upon the table top surface as she enjoyed herself. Bemused at the spectacle that was unfolding before her eyes and allowing her lips to slowly curl as the muscles tugged upon the edges. Pursed softly at the thought of blood and gore spilling in the slightly all too well kept cafe was at that moment the only reason keeping her in the seat that she had so easily claimed for herself much earlier. Slender digits wrapped around the small handle upon the side as she brought the glass to her lips. Sipping gingerly at the hot mixture as it seemed to wake her up, her eyes opening slightly to reveal the smokey-grey hues. Closing her eyes for a moment she inhaled the steam that rose from the liquid before she slowly finished the drink in a final gulp.

Quietly she decided to bemuse herself in her own little show. Her attention now barely split evenly between her own movements and that of the other patrons. Her hands gently wrapped around the cup as she brought it up as if to take another sip. The cup though was void of any liquid, with only the tea leaves remaining within, which at that very moment her smokey-grey hues seemed interested in as they were locked upon them. A small smirk crossed her lips as she looked at the leaves, quietly setting the cup down once more before she decided to take note of anything else that was to happen. Of course by now she was watching more intently than before, as if she had some knowledge that the others had not at that moment.

The Dark Lady thus slowly leaned back in her seat, and reminding herself that some may not find her normal posture suiting, she decided to act as 'lady like' as she could. Her long leg being crossed over the other as the long high cut skirt draped over her lower half. Once more her fingers returned to their bemused tapping, slowly raising and falling in turn as she watched.

Spencer of course was in her own little world as she continued to read. She felt the others move into her vicinity which meant she was going to have to participate in social activities soon enough. Placing the tablet down, she looked at the gift and grinned. Crystals were easily one of her favorite things to collect so with taking the red crystal she placed it on the table and examined it for only a moment. The crystal soon found its hope in her handbag. Before she could thank the bubbly blonde another woman walked up with a sentry?

Again, before she could speak another man with a navel uniform and one of her favorite mercs walked up. Seems the woman with the sentry wasn't meant to be here. Spencer stood and nodded towards the officer of the Fringe. She gathered her things and held her data pad close to her chest. Looking at the others she sighed, there goes a wonderful afternoon. Glancing back over at the Navy Officer, Spencer eyed his name badge and raised any eyebrow. Seems Jared was hiding something, either way she nodded towards him.

“Ovmar right? Before you take away this young woman and escort her off Annaj can you explain to me what she has done, well beyond the blatantly obvious mistake of bringing a weapon into a cafe...and having it walk up to one of the Fringe Arbitrators.”

Spencer ignored the claims that it was Circe, she had hoped the woman was smarter than to step foot on the Fringe home planet especially after her wife had outlawed the woman from touching Fringe soil.

As soon as [member="Spencer Jacobs"] spoke those words Ovmar entered the scene, which was highly coincidental and definitely not pre-planned. He walked past the crew, giving them a nod in acknowledgement and finally ended up by the bar. Without skipping a beat, he then spoke to the barkeep.

“A coffee, if you will. Thank you.”

Then with coffee in hand, he walked back to the scene. It took him a few moments, sipping from his coffee, with a frown on his face to finally say something.

“Beyond parading around with a horribly lethal but cute weapon without a permit, there is one simple matter which complicate this happy reunion. The fact that Circe Savan has been outlawed by Arbiter Varanin for transgression against the Fringe Confederation. Before you ask, yes. This is Circe Savan.”

Then he took another sip from his coffee, before looking at Gavin.

“Nice outfit, cuz.”

"I was on duty." Gavin said in response to his cousin's remark. The stiff clothing was not exactly his choice of attire and he felt fairly certain any body wearing the thing would be crankier than he was.

Gavin looked to [member="Spencer Jacobs"] and gave an apologetic smile.

"Pardon the disturbance." he said before he went back to waiting for a response from the woman.

The Patron Saint of Heartache
In a quiet corner of the cafe, a cigar was lit. The smoke thick like the fog on the Fringian capital. Yellow eyes on his wrist as he brushed a bit of ash off of his black jacket. He closed his eyes, trying to not focus on the surrounding madness. Was this always how things were in Fringe Territories? Just what had he signed up for?

Sipping an iced tea, he smirked to himself. Atleast the situation wasn't completely out of control. That was most important. Ashing his cigar, he pulled out a datapad. He scanned the holonet for something. Anything that seemed to catch his interest. However, politics and military campaigns did not.

With a light sigh, he put his datapad back in his jacket pocket. Taking another drag off of his cigar, he crossed one leg over the other, leaning back in his chair. The smoke was blown up into the air, black tendrils of the force creating various patterns within the smoke. He looked over to [member="Spencer Jacobs"] as he gave her a smirk and a nod.

Crazy day indeed.

Kalinai beamed. The girl’s archaic speech and her dress showed she was just off the ship from somewhere. Well, relatively speaking anyway. The interesting thing was that although Kalinai was a trickster and thief, she did have some sort of morals and basis for acting. Whilst she could certainly take advantage of the girl in furs she chose not to.
It’d be more amusing if she didn’t.

“Mead, huh? Not sure what that is, but get some of this fire water inside you. You’ll find it keeps the snow and ice off you! Careful, it’s stronger than a wampa’s backhand!”
The girl likely didn’t know what a wampa was, but ah well.
“These monetary units are called credits. It’s not pegged to a bullion standard, but to an agreed exchange medium based on government fluidity. That’s nonsense talk for ‘it’s not made of gold, but is worth the same’. I’ll get you a good exchange, but for now, here you go!”
She slipped the girl a hundred credits of her own money. Generosity was not one of Kalinai’s normal virtues, but she felt like protecting the noble savage.

“Oh this? This is what we call tea. It keeps you awake rather than sending you to sleep. It can also make one a bit hyper. Not that I’ve ever had that problem,” Kalinai confided, almost breaking the universe with the sheer absurdity of that lie.

Waiting on the one to speak once more finding herself with her eyes upon some of the others with such strange clothing. It could only make herself known that this place had order much like in her own clan back on Midvinter. [member="Gavin Ovmar"] Giving him a long stare. Here more speak strangely with in the place itself. Making note of all if wasn't like she wanted to break any of there rules no doubt their Gods have given them.

Not knowing what to think of the fair skin blonde yet. Feeling of this one seem that one wanting to be friendly enough to want to help. Even giving her some of those trade shinning called credits. "Oh so its a stout brew." , as she took the first sip to have it burn down her throat. It was a warming that hadn't been felt for a very long time. As if there was a stair that came upon her one of those vision of hers flashes of image came to be then went. Shaking her own self back, to the here and now.

Having herself smile a bit, about the tea spoke off. "Is this brew as like hot black brew.", it was true she had a want to curiosity. Thinking upon this until felt smooth metal slip into her hand. "Oh yes...credits ..yes, good miss.", as she shook herself some more. Taking off her back her long curve bow. laying it on the table as she shed her out her layer living the leather skin.

"These credits, you give, you do good work for them.,", knowing that she always taught by her chieftain father taught both her and her sister long ago. "Gods bless these world with lots of task to keep one leaving..like spear fishing, and hunting to trade skins. "
