Intent: To create a masterwork Alkahest blade for the Grandmaster. This weapon will be a Light version of powerful Sith Swords from canon, allowing it to do many similar things, but obviously with a different bent. Overall this can be considered as a Light version of many canon Sith Alchemy weapons.
Development Thread: YES. Also this submission was a prototype of the method.
Manufacturer: Phylis Alince, [member="Corvus Raaf"], [member="Taeli Raaf"]
Model: N/A
Affiliation: The Jedi Order
Modularity: No
Production: Unique
Material: Alchemised durasteel, leather grip, alchemised diamond on the pommel.
Classification: Sword
Size: Two Handed
Length: 80cm blade, 20cm hilt
Weight: 2.4kg
Special Features:
  • Alchemised to be almost indestructible. Destroying this weapon would take cataclysmic power or many powerful Dark Side Masters.
  • Can reflect blaster bolts like a lightsabre.
  • Has an overpowering Light Side aura, sufficient to burn Dark adepts or Sithspawn on contact.
  • Can be infused with Force Light, making the weapon glow, allowing the stored energy to be released on contact with an enemy.
  • Increased cutting ability compared to a regular blade, but not as much as a regular lightsabre.
  • May only be truly used by Phylis, Corvus or Taeli. Other Light adepts may handle it, but will not be able to get the most from it.
Description:
As the Jedi Order faced defeats and desertions Phylis Alince decided that something symbolic was needed. Though the power of the Light was seen to be waning by many, she decided to create a weapon for the Grandmaster which would provide a beacon in a dark galaxy.
With this in mind she worked with Corvus and Taeli Raaf to create the Dawnbringer, a weapon of tremendous power. Using her now honed skills of Alkahest, and drawing on Taeli’s knowledge from when she was a Sith Lord, the three of them combined to forge this weapon.

Fundamentally the blade is a slightly heavier than normal sword in the shape of a katana. The blade is infused with the Light and alchemised to be unbreakable. Nothing short of a black hole, superweapon or the efforts of many very powerful Dark Side Masters will have any effect on it. In order to reach this point they were forced to think outside the box, as it were. With previous smaller items Phylis was able to use the wielder’s blood to power the alchemisation, but as this sword was so large the dilution in water would be too great. Therefore Taeli hit on a novel solution; using microbe rich water, and drawing the life-force of those little creatures and making them one with the blood, the Light and the metal.

When completed the weapon is able to do the usual things an Alkahest/Alchemy blade can such as resisting lightsabres, blocking blaster bolts and exuding a Force aura. In the case of the Dawnbringer, the Light aura is extremely strong, almost overpowering in close proximity.
One key difference this weapon has is that like some Sith blades it can store the Force and then direct it. In this case, Force Light can be stored in the blade. It can then be directed like a short ranged beam attack, or it can amplify the power of the blade. When thus amplified the weapon literally glows and can deliver a blinding flash and discharge the stored Light energy. Its touch and cut also burns Dark Siders or creatures created with Sith Alchemy.

Like everything, it does have some weaknesses. For one, it cannot cut like a lightsabre, it is also heavier than one, making fighting an enemy with a lightsabre more difficult. What’s more, the wielder cannot hide the sword’s burning presence. It will be noticeable to all Force users of Knight rank or higher in the vicinity. Lastly, the weapon is designed to fight Dark Siders. Against neutrals or against Force dead enemies like Vong the results will be reduced.

Force light has no canonical ability to be able to greater pierce through materials, and is generally regarded as used almost solely to combat the dark side. You can have increased cutting ability, as this is an object of alchemy/alkhestry, but being able to cut through objects like a lightsaber is going to have to go.

Edited to remove the lightsabre cutting power, instead allowing it to discharge the power on contact, as with Sith Swords.

Also clarified in weaknesses it cannot cut as strongly, though added it has increased cutting power compared to a regular sword.
