DESCRIPTION
Midvinter has ever remained blissfully unaware of the goings-on in the rest of the galaxy, and up until recently in their long history any otherworldly events or sightings the Valkyri would attribute to their gods as either gifts or punishments. In the case of the material known to the rest of the galaxy as phrik, the Valkyri in ages past happened upon what they believed to be a fallen star. In actuality, said fallen star was a phrik container badly mangled by the impact, rendering it but a hunk of metal. Where this container came from is up to debate, but it would not be the first time a phrik container would survive extreme conditions. This rare starmetal, as they have come to call it, proved to vastly outshine their commonfound (dura)steel weapons in both sharpness and durability. Only a few weapons were ever forged from this starmetal.

The Valkyri people harnessed the precious metal of the fallen star and fashioned the weapon now carrying the name of Dawn, though the sword has worn many names throughout the millennia. It has seen use from the greatest kings, mightiest warriors, and humblest heroes over the ages, and sometimes lost for centuries at a time until someone rediscovers its whereabouts. In recent history the sword was recovered by the High King Threign Hammerfall, father of Thrand Dawnbringer who wielded it during the Valkyri civil war. Having reclaimed the throne from the hands of Beorlund the Usurper, it continued to serve the Dawnbringer until his untimely death.

His eldest son, [member="Thyrian Hearthfire"], was elected ruler following the old king's passing, yet he would not pick up his father's sword for he considered himself unworthy. As such the blade was retired for the time being, until his firstborn son was old - or stubborn - enough to wield it. That day has now come, for the young prince has grown tall and strong for his age and is determined to carry his grandfather's spirit with him wherever he may roam, as the new Bringer of Dawn.

The sword has few distinguishing features; there are no markings or etchings upon either hilt nor blade, nothing that gives away just how old it is or how many men have wielded it. What does draw the eyes of many is its immense size, even for Valkyri-made weapons of war. It speaks of a time when swords were designed to win battles through sheer intimidation and destructive capabilities, plain and simple. While its design might seem simple and even primitive by today's standards, it has never once lost its potency.
