Strengths:
Cutting power: A lightsaber could cut through virtually anything, from enemies to blast doors. Unlike other swords it has an omni-directional cutting edge.
Deflector: When used defensively, a Force-sensitive could deflect blaster bolts with a lightsaber, and could even reflect the shots back toward the shooter or some other target. Experienced wielders could even employ their lightsaber to absorb Force lightning.
Flexible: This lightsaber comes with a dual phase function allowing the wielder to quickly switch between three set lengths at the flick of a button. It was developed to be able to extinguish and ignite in an instant snap-hiss, allowing for full use of the Trakata technique. Due to Pyrrhus ruling the ocean planet of Glee Anselm for a long period of time, he later modified it to be functional under water as well.
Weaknesses:
Not everything burns: While lightsabers come equipped with the power to cut through almost anything, it will fail to do so against materials such as, but not limited to, beskar, phrik and alchemized items.
Things uncivilized: While efficient in deflecting and redirecting blaster bolts it is not particularly useful against slugthrowers and cannot provide an adequate defense against the momentum of a slug round.
Description:
This Force-imbued artefact became the crowning item to signify the young Togruta Acolyte, Tanek Santii, stepping into the ranks of Sith Knights. It was the first lightsaber he ever constructed, and he carried it with him well into becoming Darth Pyrrhus, Lord of the Sith. Its creation came about as the final test from his master, Darth Vornskr. Pyrrhus was abandoned on a lava planet with little in the ways of weapons or tools. Only the Force was available to him. Here he found a way to survive, eventually discovering the lava crystal which would become the focus of his new, deadly weapon. With the lightsaber components he had brought with him, the weapon was made within the fiery depths of the unnamed volcanic planet.
The hilt was adorned with the bone of an akul. The akul were large quadrupedal, carnivorous predators native to the grasslands of the planet Shili, and were known to be the only creature the Togrutas feared. They could attack and destroy settlements and villages. This came to serve as a symbolic relic showing back to his origin as a hunter on Shili. Although he did not use them for beautiful necklaces or headdresses, Pyrrhus maintained the not uncommon use of akul remains for his own creations. Though discarding almost every aspect of his past, primitive life, Pyrrhus upheld the strict tradition stating that these adornments could only be used by those who had slain an akul single-handedly.
The hilt stands out from the standard design not only with its bone ornament, but also from the fact that it is curved. This design was usually made to allow the hilt to fit better into the palm, facilitating the use of one-handed fighting styles such as Form II, or to provide variable blade angles to confuse opponents. The use of curved hilts allowed for more precise movements as well as near-perfect flexibility when engaged in lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat. The hilt’s curvature also gave the wielder more power when delivering overhand strikes and would change the angle of attacks by the merest fraction of a degree.
Pyrrhus equipped the lightsaber with a few additional function, some included later than others due to a rising need. Most notably it is a dual-phase lightsaber. This allows Pyrrhus to change the blade’s length between three pre-set lengths, each serving their own purpose in given situations. Unlike typical lightsabers which often possessed a manual adjuster for reducing the blade emission, the dual-phased blade could be triggered in an instant, adding an element of surprise to catch an opponent off guard. Additionally, dual-phase lightsabers also had a blade-width adjust. The hilt came equipped with an ion energy cell. These were placed in a lightsaber hilt in order to modify the energy output of the lightsaber, allowing skilled users to better deliver powerful attacks against both organic enemies and droids. Lastly, Pyrrhus had the hilt installed with a bifurcating cyclical ignition pulse, aka Waterproof Casing. This circumvented a common weakness of the lightsaber, as they would short out and require minor repairs when submerged underwater. This was perhaps not an issue for most, as it rarely would see use above water. However, Pyrrhus considered it a necessary addition due to his prolonged stay on the ocean world of Glee Anselm.
